I Sold All My Savings To Buy Bitcoin!

Yes, it happened this morning! I decided to buy Bitcoin with all of the savings I have done in Fiat. I have been buying Bitcoin daily in tiny amounts (100INR, $1.3) via Bitdroplet, a Bitcoin Savings Investment Plan. Anyone from anywhere in the world can register and invest in Bitcoin on Autopilot. In simple terms, you are dollar-cost averaging into Bitcoin automatically and you can choose to do it on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. I am not sure which of the countries are excluded but most of you can easily do it. You might also find any local service which provides similar plans. This was done with an intention to start a BTC fund for my son and I would hand over this to him when he grows up! I want him to be responsible for his finances from an early age. They don't teach this in school and I suffered because of that. Only in my 30s, I had realized the importance of investing early and investing often. I will be 32 this year and it's not too late. I would panic once I turn 60. 😂 Better late than never, right?

Hedging Against Inflation & Fiat

Today I kickstarted another fund but this time it was for me. I used all of my savings done in the last 2 years or so to buy Bitcoin. I also bought a ledger to safeguard this fund because I will HODL. Might use it if I see a great opportunity somewhere else but most of it will be locked in a cold, offline storage.

A little backstory - I bought a house 2.5 years ago with my wife where we used 80% of our savings and even then we are under huge debt since we took a loan. @olebulls, you are going through it so you will understand. ✌️ It would probably take us 3-5 years to let go of that debt if we use all of our monthly savings to pay the EMI. Our current salaries are enough to pay the debt and manage our expenses, plus a little room to do some savings. We planned this quite well but since it's life unexpected things (good or bad) happen. A year and a half ago, our son was born and it was a great thing although not planned. 😋 And no, we got pregnant just before covid so we didn't do it when the whole world had nothing to do but to sit in their homes like prison inmates. Anyway, in the past one year, I have realized that our expenses are going to grow as my son grows. Not that I am blaming him, we want to give him a comfortable life and provide all the resources so that he will be able do great things in life, in peace. Even if he doesn't do anything great, that's okay. But parents should try their best.

Since I want to make a career in crypto and I want to completely switch my professional life to it in the next 5 years, I decided to plunge into Bitcoin. It's my hedge against inflation. Also, I don't like fiat at all for several reasons. It's an outdated money system and just like our software, we should upgrade our money. That's what I did today.

Next Step - Sell House?

We are planning to sell our house in the upcoming months because both of us have realized that we did a blunder out of emotion. We bought the house because it was her dream to own one before her 30s. I couldn't back off at that time because she has supported me all my life and made me the man I am. She trusted me when I left my job to get into business full time. Hence, I couldn't say no to her and went with it. Clearly, our planning had loopholes because 3 years later, we are feeling the heat when it comes to our Finances. There are so many things we want to do for ourselves but we can't because we have to repay the debt and manage our monthly expenses. We don't have much room to spend a good chunk to invest or buy anything for ourselves even if we have decent incomes as compared to the majority of Indian households.

Now the interesting thing that happened is that the house we bought appreciated almost 100% in value. Our investment has doubled in just 3 years. I have been hearing stories from @gualteramarelo and @scaredycatguide about how Real Estate investing changed their lives and made them millionaires. Now I get it. We did not buy it as an investment but out of a passion to build our own dream home. Even after cutting 30% on the capital gains, I would be left with a decent chunk of profits plus the money I invested initially out of my own pocket. We would be fools to not consider selling it, get a similar house on rent, and enjoy the rest of our lives. This is not even the best part. Even after paying the rent, we would have a lot more capital every month to save or invest because rent will be a lot lesser than the monthly loan payments. And we can expect similar comfort of our own house although I am going to badly miss it because we put our hearts and souls into it. But at this point in my life, financial freedom is much more important for me and my wife. We will obviously use the profits to invest this time and I am telling you, 30-40% of is going into crypto for sure.

Most of my friends and family members would think that we have gone mad and chasing money. But the thing is, I don't give a shit about what they think. They don't support or manage our expenses, we do. And my mind tells me that this is the best financial decision I will ever make in my life after buying Bitcoin. 😎 Not listening to my heart this time! This is our plan to go Debt free in our early thirties. We can always buy our own home later in life when we have enough money to buy at least three of them.

What do you guys think? Is it a little too extreme? What would you do if you were in my position? Comment below!

Man that's bold, but think you are doing the right thing. Soo if I think about it, you might not be that bold after all, just smart 😅

Haha. It's a bold decision and when I told my friends about it, I got strange eyes 😂

And you are absolutely right, I am not that bold but you gotta do what you gotta do.

A bold move there but that will help to increase returns if Bitcoin does take off.

I am hoping for at least 2x or 3x returns in 5 years. I think Bitcoin can make it that far. Maybe more, hoping for the best. ✌️

Yes, it was pure luck. All thanks to my wife's emotional decision to buy the house.

You are right mate. The world has gone crazy and I think crypto is your best bet against everything that's happening right now. I hope more people realize this before it's too late. You and I are lucky lads to be here and smart as well. We should give that credit to ourselves.

This is huge man, congrats.

If I am in your position, I think I will do the same thing, just to be remembered all of that is for the long term only, 6 months - 1 year I still considered is short term.

And because I am new, I will be investing my savings with DCA, maybe 10% - 20% of it for my first step, then buy more with averaging down 2 times if BTC price is declined. If I buy 0.1 BTC at $60.000 and buy more 0.2 BTC at $35k I already see the gain now. But that's just me and my thoughts only 😁

Thanks a ton mate. Great answer! I did this investment for at least 5 years. But DCA is the best strategy to reduce the risks of market volatility. And if you keep buying the dips, you will be in sureshot profit after a few years!

You’ve done well, I’m very happy that you made such interesting ROI on the house. Buying Bitcoin is cool, with several applications coming out to enable loans on ones crypto, you’d be surprised with what your Bitcoin will do for you.

I wish you all the best.

Thank you so much, mate. 💟 I was surprised to know the appreciation and I thought why didn't I do this earlier in my life. 😂😂 But that's okay! All's well that ends well.

I am going to use some of it in DeFi. Maybe Cub Finance but I will see what's the least risky option available. Thanks once again!

Wow that's inspiring, and I am selling some of my crypto to get away from 30% Tax. I have not bought any apartment, though I have bought a land and hopefully some day when the price of Hive goes high, I can build a house on the land.

Don't sell all of it if your life is not dependent on it. Infact use it to earn yields. This unfair crypto tax has to change. The Crypto community in India is too big to get ignored. I am pretty sure there will be protests against this.

I wish you all the best for your dream housemate. I am pretty sure Hive is going to change our lives for good. Then we can have a drink together on your balcony and have drone wars. 😋

The only way out is all in.

A ballsy move my dude, good luck with all of this!

Money management is hard when the going gets tough but I guess we can't go wrong with Bitcoin in these uncertain times.

Thank you so much, Jerry. Yes, I am going all in! This is where I belong.

I have never felt this suffocated and helpless in my life. I know what investments I want to make in crypto and I want to do it without thinking too much about my monthly expenses. I don't like the burden of such calculations. Bitcoin FTW ✌️

It takes a lot of courage to do it but I think it's the right thing to do!

You and your son will be thankful in a few years from now!

I think you have a partner that you both understand each other and after a common goal, that is a strength to you plans.

Exiting fiat I would commend that as it is my plan to have most of my money in crypto instead of a pile or worthless shitty fiat.

I am questioning myself lately whether buying a home on loan isn't just a financial burden. I'd rather want my house bought once off payment.

You are right mate. I think we both are quite lucky to have each other because we always try to support each other's decisions and dreams.

After getting into crypto, I have started hating Fiat even more. 😂

Yes mate! Getting the sword of debt lying on your head for years is a shitty feeling. Life is unpredictable and you don't want to be in a messy situation because you have some bigass bills to pay every month. This is how I do my spending - If you want to buy 1 unit of something, check if you can afford to buy 3 units of that thing at once. Then buy one!

If you have the money to buy 3 cars, buy 1. If you have the money to buy 3 houses, buy 1. Like that! But this is just me. Everyone has their own priorities in life.

Firstly, I have to say, I am turning 32 years old myself this year 😃
Secondly, we also got a kid right before covid xD
Thirdly, yeh the loan has started, I know what you mean!
--> Its like we live in a parallel universe @finguru, haha!

That return on your house is frigin awesome! HOW? Is it not like 20 years before houses usually doubles in value haha?

You going all in crypto is what I call a bullish Indian! Become the bull, always stay bull and the bulls will help you! GOGO!

and mate, go for it, go chase that dream! It is not extreme at all, remember in crypto fortunes favors the brave!

Hahahaha. Mother of all coincidences. We are like long-lost twins mate. 🤓

I got shit lucky. This house wasn't even our first choice. Our society is the last housing plot in our sector and recently the government decided to open sports-related facilities in the surroundings like a cricket stadium, a badminton academy, a football cum hockey ground, and a bigass sports club. Moreover, a new international airport coming nearby. That's why the sudden spike! My friend wanted to shift to my city and he was looking for houses. He only told me that flats in my society are now selling for a premium.

I am so bullish on Crypto. This is what I keep on thinking the whole day now. I am addicted to studying new, exciting projects and trends in this space. I am going to list my house for sale next week after talking to my property agent. I told you once in one of your posts that I am going to be debt-free soon. This was my plan and now I can see it becoming a reality. Very soon ™ 🚀🚀 Thanks for the motivation mate. :') Needed it.

Hahaha yes indeed we are!

That is totally awesome mate, I really indulge you this!

Ye... me too! The world is changing super fast and the projects on Hive and in the crypto world in general is evolving insanely fast and that is super exciting!

Omg that is super nice, looking forward to a post about your sale and maybe your debt-free life :D

cheers mate!

LMAO. Sure! I will make a post titled "Cha-Ching" when the sale happens. 😂😂

I am getting too excited, it has to happen before my wife changes her mind. Took me a lot of effort and calculations to convince her.

I must say that's a courageous move and I believe you have explored your options and that is what you and your wife decided to be the best. Some people may say you are mad to be doing that, but it is your life hehe :) All the best on your investment moves!
