Harvests, Begin Garbage Dump Cleanup, Treasures, Scouts Fishing and Swimming, NAS RAID - Wednesday

The squash managed 11 pounds and I have to go sort what I ave in the cooler to make sure it is all still good.

We were to go fishing for our cub scout meeting in the evening up at Bear Lake and I spent a bit of time digging up worms to take with. I found the BEST place to get the worms is in the sheep pen. I rolled a railroad tie over and dug beneath it and came up with handfuls of red worms. Nice and active ones too.

Mid day I went for a meander up the hill as I wanted to see what it would take for me to redo the west fence line down the hill since it is falling apart. I managed to get seriously sidetracked by the field of garbage that has emerged from the edge of our hill. The garbage dump was cleaned up years ago but some of the edges got missed which are now being exposed.

Another scouting patch to go with the other one I found. Both are from 1987.

Okay, seriously. I found an unopened bottle of fake blood. It is still liquid inside, the bottle is still pliable, and I remember this stuff from when I was a kid. I also found a tube of green camo face paint, of which I had some as a kid too.

I was going through dragging decomposing piles of clothing out of the ground and piling it. old shoes stacked to one side, metal another, and garbage in its own pile. It will take a long time to get all the crap picked up and disposed of.

This action figure tumbled out of the ground in pieces which I happened to find all of. I noticed when I put it together the only thing wrong was the rubber band holding the torso to the legs was broken. I finally had enough for the day of the garbage and headed down the hill.

The screws are all rusted in the figure but after drilling the head off the screw the torso pieces came apart and I grabbed an oring from my kit and installed it in the figure. The chest piece is not screwed together but it holds tight enough.

I got dinner made and us fed before we headed the 3 miles north to the lake. We met up with the other families and headed around the lake to an open area where we would all have some space. The lines got thrown out into the water and the little bass were nipping at the worms.

They lasted all of 10 minutes before the boys were all screaming about being hot and had found their way into the water. J ended up carrying R out into the deep and scaring him a bit.

Despite the warmth in the sun the water in the lake is still cool. Both boys were chattering as they stood dripping water and soon they were over lying on the asphalt path warming up. I had to remind them parallel not perpendicular.

It worked and they warmed up enough to go back in the water. One tiny bass was caught by any of us but the boys all had a blast swimming.

Earliler in the day I had gotten our new NAS HD and got it installed in the drive. I had to reformat everything though as I made it a RAID setup so we have our data mirrored. This took overnight to get the drive synced but they are good now and ready to backup to.

Went out a bit later to soak as the sun was nearly down.

My turkeys are so obstinate at night and really don't want to go in their hut.

My action figure now sits watch over my computer with his giant AK47 that was found on the ground near his dismembered body.

Today I have to cut the grass and weeds again, have harvests to pick, garbage to sort, branches to haul,and general cleanup to work on around the farm.
