The Bee and The Cat

Crouching in the thicket and tall grass, Peter watches his future prey closely, waiting for the ideal moment to pounce on it. His victim, somewhat unsuspecting, descends gracefully and slowly to a beautiful pink flower and disappears into it. Peter sharpens his vision, tenses his muscles, and prepares himself. Suddenly, a short distance away and in another flower of the same color, he sees again, with its characteristic striped colors, how his prey emerges. Somewhat surprised, he wonders how it is possible that it has passed from one side to the other without him noticing it. Somewhat distracted and thinking about the possibilities of this, he hears a very faint voice next to him:

— Hello, it's a beautiful day, don't you think?

When he turns his gaze, his surprise increases when he sees that it is his prey who speaks to him, flying very close to him. He looks again at the flowers and immediately turns to the one who is greeting him:

— Hey, how is it possible for you to be in that flower and here simultaneously? — he asks very surprisedly and amazed.

— Oh my dear friend! Those are my sisters, I have been watching how you look at them for a while, they are cute and funny, aren't they? — answers the winged insect, smiling tenderly and looking at her sisters who flutter near them, absent of what is happening — I introduce myself, my name is Laura and I am a bee. What's your name?

— My name is Peter and I am a cat and a few days ago your sister pecked me in the cheek - the cat answers, who immediately looks more attentively at Laura and continues - or wouldn't you be the one who did it? — he interrogates her, squinting at her.

— I'm sorry to hear that, my friend Peter, and I apologize if any of my sisters bit you. You should know that none of us could have done it, because when we use our sting, unfortunately, our life is over — Laura informs him with a sad gesture.

— Is that true? — replies the cat, somewhat distressed — I'm very sorry, although it hurt me too much when he stung me. But, I don't know why he did it, I just wanted to say hello. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped when I did — comments Peter, as he recalls the uncomfortable incident that kept him sick for several days.

— You probably scared her and that's why she reacted that way. But as you can see, we are very friendly as long as we are not disturbed. We like this place very much, there are lots of flowers and we can collect a lot of nectar from them, we love that — the bee informs her, looking at the beautiful garden they have been visiting for the last few days.

The cat sits on he hind legs and looks at her new friend, she answers:

— I like this place very much too. When your now-absent sister was picking at me, I couldn't come here for several days, and now it's even nicer. I suppose you guys have something to do with this, is that right?

— Oh, yes, of course, feline friend, our work helps the plants to reproduce so we can have even more places with beautiful flowers for our delight and yours too — Laura answers, while her smile spreads joy to her cat friend.

Since then, every day, a flower and plant-loving cat now shares the garden with her friends, the bees, butterflies, and many other insects that delight in this small wild paradise, built-in harmony, with affection and lots of love. End of the story.
