Indoor Garden Update - Germinating HOT peppers! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

avatar

Hello Everyone,

Recently I ordered some hot peppers online and had a zero percent success rate with germinating them in soil, so I decided to try the napkin method.

These aren't just any hot peppers, they are world record holders. At least the Carolina Reaper is. It's noted for being the worlds hottest in the Guinness book of records.

These things are dangerous and shouldn't be consumed raw unless you have some serious experience and tolerance for spicy things.

It's possible I will consume a Carolina Reaper, mostly because I like to experience extreme things and have an addiction to hot peppers.

Video link https://youtu.be/1uNpjqH-mQQ

In the video above, the creator of the worlds hottest pepper talks about how he created it and how hot peppers saved him from addiction. I feel like I have a bit in common with this guy, and perhaps explains why I love hot peppers. There's nothing quite like a capsaicin high :D

I'm placing three seeds of each for germination. Three White Ghost Scorpion, three Carolina Reapers, and three random seeds.

The gardener who sent them to me from Ebay threw in all these extras and all I bought was the White Ghost Scorpions. That just shows how awesome gardeners are :D

Here's his link if anyone wants to buy hot peppers from him:
https://www.ebay.com/usr/the_cardcollector_22

With how nicely he packaged them and sent extras, it's clear he takes his business seriously, and he is responsive and communicative, highly recommended!

image.png

I'm also germinating three Teddy Bear sunflowers. I had one sprout previously but it died suddenly and was my fault due to not watering it enough. Seedlings are less drought resistant and attentiveness is crucial!

image.png

I put them all in a little Tupperware container with a lid and placed them in a warm dark location. I'll check them in about thirty six hours.

Everything else is coming along great!
The aloe really loves its new home, and this pink sunflower up front is a very dominant plant and is not afraid to show it!

My capsaicin cravings are hitting hard and that cayenne pepper is calling my name.
Hopefully it will be packing a solid fifty thousand Scoville's so futuremind can get his fix.

What do you all think of consuming dangerously hot peppers?

I would love to read your thoughts in the comment section!

Thank you for stopping by,

Have a great day! -@futuremind

I think you're a little nuts! No way I would eat even an ancho chili pepper raw. Poblano maybe, but even then I would suffer some, and you would laugh at me.
The tent looks so inviting!

I've heard peppers are difficult to germinate, but for some reason, I have good luck germintating peppers, I just put them in soil and water them. They do take a very long time to come up though. Not until I begin to wonder if I shouldn't try again do they begin to poke their noses above ground. After that, at least this past year, my peppers were a complete disaster.

I'm a little nuts yeah :D
And yes I derive pleasure from seeing others suffer the heat of a hot pepper. It's more entertaining when someone is ultra confident they can handle it though.

I usually do as well, and I'm wondering if I didn't wait long enough now, but after a few weeks I gave up on them.

Hopefully the paper towel method works, and germinating three of each is usually a good amount for success. All we need is one :)

If I do it (probable) perhaps I'll record it in a video and post it.
It's been a while since I've done anything like that, and consumption of Carolina Reapers is certainly video worthy.

Thanks for your kind words and support my friend! :)

The biggest take home message in this post, is non other than the part of the video where he said the heat rush giving euphoria when the endorphin overtakes the pain ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

We Malaysian is known to have high heat resistance tongue, probably next to Thai since we're neighbors ๐Ÿคฃ now I know why we weren't as hot as Thai girls, simply because we didn't take the heat up to the euphoric extend and stopped at the burning sensation instead of getting down on my knees and crying ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Also, I kinda get what you mean now, the resemblance of you and him. But you're not going to cross breed your BigMac aren't ya ๐Ÿ˜…

Yes it's almost like a runners high, but better in some ways, in my opinion.
Maybe the ultimate high would be consuming one while running a marathon. I wouldn't even be surprised if people have done it.

The "authentic" Thai restaurants we have here could step up their heat game, they're probably afraid of getting sued.

If you want true heat in America you have to grow it yourself ๐Ÿ˜‚

But you're not going to cross breed your BigMac aren't ya

I'm interested in all kinds of cross breeding.
Cross breeding peppers is an interest, but first I need to get the plants producing more peppers. I need to get surgical with it..

I just have to say, when eating or cutting them up make sure to wash your hands really good before taking a leak! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ Can't wait to see you try them!

I've made this mistake more than once in my life bro ๐Ÿ˜‚
I might make a video of me eating the reaper.

Awesome dude! I love me some hot peppers too, however I can handle a reaper or ghost, that is intense! Best of luck with the grow!

Have you heard of a guy on YouTube called Jonny Schoville - Chase the heat ? He is the most insane chilli head I've ever come across, and will eat handfulls of scorpions, ghosts, bhutlahs etc... it is wild. He has eaten a load of primotali's recently which he thinks are the hottest pepper round. Insane stuff!

Thank you @sunsethunter!

I've done the three ghost pepper challenge, two minutes without drinking anything. It was pretty rough. This is the hottest I've experienced so far.

Have you heard of a guy on YouTube called Jonny Schoville - Chase the heat ?

I've never seen him before but I'm watching him right now consume 30 CHOCOLATE PRIMOTALII..., holy smokes... ๐Ÿ˜‚

In the beginning of this video he says he thinks they are the hottest yes.

I'm nowhere near this level but maybe one day.
These peppers I'm growing are going to help me figure out how much I can handle ๐Ÿ˜…

Great, you use the same technique as me to germinate this garden. But do you eat the Carolina? I grew them once, but I was afraid to eat them :).
