Keep Your Front Window Up to Date

As you probably have noticed if you follow my account, I haven't published full posts regularly recently. That is by choice, I am still active on-chain, reading other people's posts, upvoting and commenting.

When you read comments and engage in conversations, you often learn more than through the posts themselves, that's why I highly recommend you to do that, as much as you have available time.

There is also a very good reason to publish a full post on your account, at least every once in a while, if not daily.

Yes, rewards are a good reason for that, because unfortunately comments (even very good and thoughtful ones) are rarely as rewarded as a "top level" post (i.e. full post, not a comment or reply).

But maybe even more important is to remind your followers (and whoever checks your profile), that you are still around. And your posts are the first thing they see on your profile, apart from the header. Most people won't bother to check your comments, they might not even bother to check if you only posted in communities and not on your blog.

And if they see nothing new for 3 months, they might assume your account is dormant now and it's no reason to keep following (or to follow if they aren't your followers).

These remarks are suited for personal accounts, but also for business/official accounts. Maybe even more in the later case, because that's your front window, what everyone sees.

From conversations I had recently and not only, I realized people know little about HF25 and changes it will bring.

A recent comment I responded to yesterday from @r1s2g3 made me realize (after checking), that our official Hive blockchain account (@hiveio) is very silent, weeks before the HF25 happens. Last post was celebrating our first year on Hive, on March 23rd.

blocktrades, howo, gtg and maybe others, they all have posts related to HF25, from heavily-involved positions in developing and/or testing.

It's understandable all these people are very busy around hard fork time, but if we look back on the history of @hiveio account, the previous HF, which was not nearly as impactful to the regular user, had 4 posts dedicated, two before the fork, and two after.

crimnsonclad invited blocktrades, howo and themarkymark to her regular radio show to talk about the changes that will happen in HF25 about three weeks ago. You can watch the recording of that show on her account. It is the only live show / podcast that I know of where this happened.

By the way, there used to be a monthly roundtable for Hive witnesses. Not anymore, as far as I know. How about HE witnesses?

I really like the changes introduced with HF25. As I considered HF24 very important.

For my own taste, the communications of blocktrades, howo, gtg etc. are... enough, maybe even better. Because I get excited by dev-talk.

But remember, communication is the key, and it has to be unencrypted to reach the regular folks. And official accounts are important! Always!

communication is the key

I agree, this is also the principle I am using as an IT professional. My job is easier when I am communicating well with the individuals within the company, it keeps my job seamless.

You are right, of course. Hive is a bit more complicated due to its decentralized nature. All (or the most relevant) parties communicate, but usually regarding their slice of the pie on personal accounts. Hiveio account, which should be our front, doesn't say a word about HF25, however.

You're so right. I've had to ask at leomarkettalk, when the HF is expected to happen.

That goes for communities and dapp developers too. Keeping in touch with the community is key in this business.

Of course! I know one project which seems to keep doing it forever - Splinterlands. LeoFinance needed a little push, but I appreciate that they are making an effort to keep the weekly schedule.

In the end, their effort is rewarded in many ways, particularly with loyalty.

You are definitely right, engaging in the community is great, but once in a while one needs to drop good content on his blog

This will tell his followers that he is still very active

Thanks for that video, Have not finished it yet.

I understand Hive do not have CEO, but it should have an official spokeperson that can do weekly update for Hive chain.

A news aggregator and occasional relevant interviews would be a great improvement.
