My Hive Goals 2022 - Progress Report Week 3
Time for another progress report for my Hive goals.
As a regular reminder, my Hive goals for 2022 are:
- 25000 Hive (Power)
- 5000 HBD
broken down into 1029 Hive and 406 HBD monthly. I have weekly guidelines too, but what is important are the monthly and yearly goals.
We had an interesting week last week, bloody towards the end.
I expected (and still do) some more diving before we hit the bottom, that's why I pushed more into HBD this week (again), instead of trying to catch the falling knife. I bought HIVE every day of the week, in small chunks, but ended up below the guideline, for the second week in a row.
I am now very close to hit the monthly HBD target (only 65 HBD left), but the monthly HIVE goal is at risk, needing 393 HIVE in a little over a week. Last week I added 135 HIVE, so what I need is almost triple.
I am a bit torn about what to do. If we entered a bear market, it is still a good time to keep adding on the HBD, even if that means not achieving the HIVE monthly goal. As the price of HIVE moves to lower thresholds, more of it can be earned by creating content, and also it becomes profitable to switch author rewards to HIVE-only instead of 50%/50%.

Yeah, it's very challenging... But that will make me very happy at the end if I achieve it.
Great progress toward your goals. I do not have a goal for HBD only for Hive so I have been converting my HBD to Hive. Your goal is more balanced. Are you calculating in the 12 % return that is being added to your HBD each month?
No. The accrued interest adds up every 30 days when I make a move on the HBD savings (which is pretty much every day these days).
Sounds like you've given yourself a real challenge. Which is what we are supposed to be doing here. I am buying on a weekly basis and hope to hit 5000 HP in the next few months. Certainly by the end of the year. I think this is the first bear market I will be going through if that's what this is. Best of luck on your journey to your goals. You should meet them by the end of the year without a problem.

Personally I go into stable coins or SL packs so that if Hive falls more I can buy it cheaply.
Yeah, that's why I thought I should continue to push onto HBD instead of HIVE. I will buy some more CL packs as well (at least I hope so).
Keep your focus on the big picture! It will be easier to get more HP when you have more stake for curation and the price volatility will be here for some time... I mean, if you implement small tweaks regarding swapping from HIVE to HBD and vice-versa, not sure that it will help in the big picture... As you said, HIVE can go further down, and your HBD can be more valuable down the road...

2021 was kind of atypical for a final stage of a bull market, but for me it was great, due to Splinterlands and not only. I'm sure you'll find enough opportunities going forward to rebuild your stables and reinvest in the bear market.

I followed your Listnerds email and I see that you have some very ambitious goals, but I see that you may be able to achieve them.
I will follow you to learn how to do it, because mine are much smaller.
I started small as well. Now having multiple streams of income helps to set and follow more ambitious goals.
The best way to achieve your goals is to make a plan and track your progress. I have no doubt you'll achieve yours if you stay consistent.

Those are some ambitious goals. I think you should be fine so long as you continue to create content during the bear market. Worrying about the prices shouldn't stop you from doing what you usually do.

I prefer processes over goals. So far mine has been to acquire more and more HIVE Power and invest in various DAPPs in the HIVE ecosystem (especially the games). I have missed on few great investments like Fantom (which is was very interested in, but took too long to invest because I had too much of my liquidity tied up on HIVE, @splinterlands etc.)
Personally I'm not paying much attention to HBD. I sell what I get form my earnings whenever HIVE price drops sufficiently.

Pegging will definitely old better than before. I'm in cryptocurrency for the long term. Historically speaking and considering the foreseeable future, the purchasing power of USD has been and will be going down. I would rather purchase a cryptocurrency such as HIVE, stake it and wait for the price to appreciate over the years. Basically I'm giving a lot of weight to potential future ROI and little weight to stability of a stablecoin. It is just a personal preference.

I agree the purchasing power of dollars and practically all fiat currency has declined over time. But with a decent interest, this can be mitigated and sometimes we need something stable. For businesses stability is even more important, but I see few embracing HBD for now.
On the other hand, I also believe HIVE should be the primary target. When HIVE booms (and I believe it will at some point), those holding it will be in a fantastic position.
@ragnarok.game has the potential to change that. I think we HIVE should simply promote 12% interest of HBD across the larger DeFi space. Most people are getting somewhere around 7% in many of the cases I have seen.
That's true. Dan planned this very well. 3Speak a sink for Hive and Ragnarok a sink for HBD.
