My Hive Goals 2022 - Progress Report Week 6

avatar

Time for another progress report for my Hive goals.

As a regular reminder on my progress reports, my Hive goals for 2022 are:

  • 25000 Hive (Power)
  • 5000 HBD

broken down into 1029 Hive and 406 HBD monthly. I have weekly guidelines too, but what is important are the monthly and yearly goals.

This week was pretty interesting. The new, improved version of HiveStats.io was released, and I obviously checked it out and reviewed it.

The two minor bugs I remarked were promptly fixed because I don't see them any more.

As I looked through the stats that interested me, I remarked that a chart for HBD balance evolution in time would be nice as well, now that HBD became more appreciated on our blockchain.

Here's the account growth chart for my main staking account, over the last 30 days:

image.png

A nice uptrend here, consistent with my focus to achieve the Hive Power yearly target.

Another element that influenced the way I acted this week towards achieving the goals was the announcement (during the Town Hall) of the imminent release of Waka Spiritblade promo card by the Splinterlands team. I wrote a post with my thoughts about that a few days ago.

Basically I haven't decided what I'm going to do. On one side I want the promo card, one the other side that interferes with my main Hive goals, of which I write about weekly in these posts. That even interferes with my goals for Splinterlands.

At the moment, I lean more towards not pursuing this distraction of buying the promo card (which is indeed powerful, thus enticing to buy). But that would cause too many plans to go sideways or be pushed back, and I can't have that.

But I am still in stand by for more details, so I haven't invested a lot in Hive or HBD this week, which reflects in a poor week compared to my general guidelines.

What I purchased was mostly HIVE, because it dropped a bit in price and because my HIVE target suffers much more than the HBD one.

Let take a look at the spreadsheet:

image.png

I missed both guidelines for the week by far and things don't look very promising at half of the month for February with 23.91% on the monthly HIVE goal and 29.56% on the monthly HBD goal.

There are circumstances - which I explained above - and if I decide NOT to attempt to buy Waka (quite likely!), more significant purchases will follow to improve these numbers.

Good luck with your goals. I have given up on setting up goals, I'd rather focus on working hard.

Thanks! Yeah, I hope the goals will keep me focused instead of all over the place.

I decide NOT to attempt to buy Waka

I came to the same conclusion lol. Otherwise my goals will be even more difficult to reach...

Exactly. I pretty much made up my mind as well, given how far behind I am on the main goals.

Waka Spiritblade is lit, but probably the friends and team members will get it first, like it happened in the past on the land sale.

Let's see how you will improve next week, as it will be a step closer to the target.

You are a bit behind but you are still making quite good progress on your goals. As for Waka, I think it will be quite expensive and I plan to sit on the sidelines.

Yes, I am behind... That's one more reason not to deviate from the main goals to chase something shiny.

Uh-oh... It's only February, and these distractions are messing with you... 😃
I can relate to you... It's not an easy task to pick between these 2 things :)

Without distractions it wouldn't be crypto... But I surely will keep my eyes on the ball this year!

I'm so on the fence about the Waka card...Not sure how I'm going to approach it. Guess I'll know more when we see what is required to grab a copy!

Thanks for sharing your goals on ListNerds man, and kudos to you...For being focused and not taking your eyes off the prize!

Distractions are abundant in crypto... Focus not as much. I don't know whether at the end of the year my goals will have been achieved or not, but I'm sure I'll pursue them like a bulldog. :)

I do love the promo cards and I have plans in buy some of them and maxing them out so I will put the Waka card as a idea that will be from money I have outside of hive and I thing the waka card will not be that cost at first which means I will buy them the minute I see them for sale, I don't keep much track of goals as I have something in mind that will boost my hive earning and I will meet up to my 6 months planed goals I guess from then on I will start tracking my monthly goals.

Promo cards are often powerful. Waka is too! If I was sitting around without a clear target or with goals where I was doing great, then I would likely jump at the opportunity.

It's not bad to fall a bit behind as it's not all in your own hands. People also need to vote the content and sometimes rewards just are lower.

I'm also a bit behind on my Hive goal for a few weeks now, but I can just add some weekly income from my social media management work if I want to. I just choose to buy other coins first as Hive my also be a bit bigger in terms of earnings other weeks.

Great job on keeping track of the goals though it helps you to stay focused and Listnerds is also adding another layer of earnings :)

You are certainly right. Goals progress will fluctuate on many factors throughout the year. It's enough time to catch up or to fall further behind. Thanks for your comment!

You are making good progress anyway. And as for Waka, I will not even try to buy that one. I know for sure it is much too expensive for me.

Yup, that's what I decided too, after over-analyzing it for some time.

@gadrian that is the mantra we should be living by, especially online marketers; as we know all too well about "Shiny New Object Syndrome" and it's no different on this amazing blockchain - so much happening and we get that FOMO itch. I came into the New Year wanting to streamline my involvement in too many things. I don't play Splinterlands, because I'm not a gamer and but I have HE-Index and that keeps me in the Splinterlands game in a way.

I'm Wakka Flakka outta here! 😆

In all seriousness, I love your progress. I have a long way to go, so seeing other's progress is motivation for me.

I found this post via ListNerds and now I'm also following you, so look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Yes we do know to stay clear of shiny new things, don't we? And yet we still fall pray to the syndrome every once in a while. I guess it's in human nature.

In all seriousness, I love your progress. I have a long way to go, so seeing other's progress is motivation for me.

I react the same way. Seeing the progress of others motivates me as well, especially if I have issues self-motivating.

@gadrian, there will always be "Shiny Objects" to try and distract us from the real goal. There are a lot of snake oil salesmen in the crypto world. The best defense is you have your goals written down and you share them with the community for accountability. keep pushing forward.

The thing with waka is that there's so little print, I'm sure it will be easy to flip for a good profit. From an investment point, it can be a good move too. I think a lot of people will feel the fomo 😄
Wish you all the best with your goals

Oh, that would be a problem for me. I get attached to cards. :) Once I buy them I rarely sell, unless I have another copy. I prefer to rent them out, if I don't use them. So, if I would buy Waka, I'd probably use it, and the funds used to buy it would be locked and unusable for my main goals.

When you push your self it can be hard to meet your goals especially with all the new shiny objects that come along. I guess the main thing is to stay the coarse and do the best you can every day.

As for the Waka card, I can see it as a great investment if you were able to get it from the release. That card will have high demand and will be priced accordingly on the market over time, not that I could come close to affording it. I will watch and see how it all comes out and maybe one day in the future I will be able to jump in on one of these promo deals.

I agree Waka would be a great investment. The problem is, once bought I would unlikely sell it, so that investment gets locked, apart from the rewards it contributes generating or the rent I collect from it. So the price I'd pay for it won't go for my main goals, because I would simply hold and use it. That's my problem.

Sometimes even though something looks really good, we need to let it go if it doesn't fit into our overall plan. Not always an easy choice. Just have to think about what we want more.

I think you're right to maintain your focus. You can always reset your goals as time and circumstances allow, but focus on achieving what you want first, then reset. There will always be something new

These progress reports help me a lot, including for realizing when I am about to make a costly mistake, like this time. Thanks for your comment!
