Rising Star on the Verge of Turning 2!

avatar

If you have been in the Hive ecosystem for a significant amount of time, it's probably very likely you heard the name Rising Star associated with gaming on Hive.

Whether or not you chose to join, or if you like the genre or not, it's a different aspect. But you probably heard of it.

I didn't join the game right from the start, but eventually I did and I played and reinvested consistently, to a point I am pretty well established in the game right now, without being in the top 200, but close enough.

A few minutes ago (at the time of writing) I saw a notification about a new post from the game account, which announced they will turn two tomorrow, and what they have planned for the event!

I haven't been around for the 1st year anniversary for comparison, but 12 hours of continuous streaming sure sounds challenging, so congrats for making that happen for everyone who love festivities.

The card that can be won with this occasion is interesting but mostly to people who don't have enough pizza slices. I might however take one, because that'll add another unique card to my collection, even if for that purpose alone it's kind of pricey. But maybe I'll need more refills of energy in the future as I advance in the game, so another card that recovers 100% of the energy instantly (and with 12 hours cooldown instead of 24 hours like pizza slices) might proof itself useful.

Until now I only talked about things that are useful to someone playing the game.

There was a piece of information in the Rising Star post that can be interesting to anyone on Hive, or at least anyone who watches the gaming aspects on Hive.

This is it:

We now have over 6500 regular players! INCREDIBLE!

Let's make some comparisons with Splinterlands, before their huge influx of new players from last year.

If I remember correctly, Splinterlands was at around 10000 daily active users at that time, higher at season ends.

But on Splinterlands bots are allowed, while on Rising Star they are not. Whether or not this enforcement holds against the most sophisticated abusers, it's debatable. But it is a rule, and suspected abusers may get their accounts terminated on Rising Star.

So, to have 6500 people playing Rising Star on a regular basis (not necessarily on a daily basis), is quite interesting, considering the number of active people on Hive counted by posting, commenting or voting.

Since there are these streams on Twitch about the game, it is not unlikely that there may be players on Rising Star who are not active on Hive otherwise. Just like on Splinterlands, on a smaller scale.

It's hard to compare Rising Star and Splinterlands from many points of view, but Rising Star sure has a serious number of active players, for a crypto game.

Much more than I would have thought. Which is great! Well done Jux, Julia, @nupulse & @theturtleproject and whoever else is involved, if any. Happy anniversary Rising Star!

Fantastic post, thank you so much for the love and so kind words. For us is a honour to be compared with Splinterlands and being a part of the awesome HIVE community. Thanks for playing also 😍

Yes, Splinterlands is obviously at a level that is hard to match, not only on Hive but in the crypto sphere in general. But that doesn't mean the successes of Rising Star shouldn't be praised. Great job, considering you guys are a small team!

I had joined the game just when the first cake was distributed and I didn't really understand what it was for at the time. This means that I've been playing the game for a year now! What I find amazing is that the game has managed to grow organically and to attract new users, especially also from developping countries. What is exceptional about Rising Star is that you can get started without initial investment. I don't know many other games that allow that and at the same time have a sound tokenomic structure!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post! Comment Footer.jpg

I believe for new players and keeping them it helps that the RS community is very positive, from what I've seen. And yes, to have a blockchain game where you can start without an investment and really have a chance to grow and earn, while remaining sustainable, is impressive.

Another game I need to find the time to play. Do you ever sleep? Thanks for sharing.

You only need a few seconds every once in a while to start the new mission. The longest missions last 300 minutes (during which you can do anything you like, other than RS), the shortest ones 5 minutes. The energy consumption is higher for longer missions. But you can refill your energy with pizza slices or this new anniversary card.

I didn't realise that Rising Star had those numbers of active players.

That is awesome!

Shows the appetite for well designed P2E games is there and that Hive's fast and free transactions make it the perfect place to host them.

Great work Rising Star!

Yep, I was surprised also! That's pretty impressive, considering how small of a team they have. So, it's possible.

Awesome post @gadrian. I have been playing #RisingStar for the past month and I like the fact that I can do missions and then move on to other tasks. It is a perfect game for a multitasker. I was not aware of the new card, that would be cool to get. Thanks for the awesome and informative post.

Yes, RS is great for something which requires little involvement, but the small things needed like starting the missions are required daily, several times a day, so it's not for people who are not consistent.

I am somewhat fortunate that I am on the computer so much of my day including at work, so it is able to run in the background, especially the longer mission. I still have a lot to learn on it but it is making me money for very little time invested.🙂

I feel the same way about its passive nature. And it is easy to learn, unlike Splinterlands. Of course there are some more advanced things, but I haven't even tried some of them, as I like keeping it simple for RS.

Rising Star is doing great and I think the new mission is better than last year. Last time, it was like a cost of 100k and there was only a limited amount. The ones for starbits sold out too fast and anyone late had to buy using Hive.

It is incredible when I met Risingstar we did not reach 1000 users and we are already at 6500, it is fantastic.

I think it's more than users. They are active users, which is much better.

The 1st Birthday cake is probably the most used card in my deck and I'm lucky that I was there at the right moment to pick it up! It was maybe a bit cheaper than now, but very useful... ;)

Happy 2nd B-Day Rising Star!

Still not going to play it, but I am glad people are finding different ways to enjoy their time around here.

That's ok. I thought the same way for a long while about RS, that's I won't get involved with it. Until two friends made a video of them discussing about RS. One was the expert, the other the noob. I understood then what RS was about, and how little time it requires.
