Rising Star Ready to Explode Outside Hive?

avatar

On Hive we have a number of games, but none of them penetrated outside the ecosystem like Splinterlands did, despite some being quite popular within our community.

Rising Star is one of the popular games on Hive. I play it, invested and reinvest in it, but started kind of late because I thought I wouldn't like it. I was wrong. It is great for a passive game.

Recent publicity started to bring in lots of fresh players.

Here are some official announcements on Discord:

@everyone If you are wondering why so many people are joining the discord it is because of this video which currently has over 14k views:

At one point we were seeing more than one player sign up to the game every minute yesterday! You may have noticed that the game is running much smoother too. I have been tuning the server and looks like it has made a big difference! Just in time for the influx of players! As always thanks for everyone's support.

Now Jux - the game developer - is reaching out trying to find ways to onboard lots of people at once using claimed accounts:

@everyone We are getting an amazing number of new players thanks to @Zeldapixel & Dorrego. The issue we have is trying to onboard these new players to Hive without them having to pay. If anyone has any spare VIP tickets or knows another way to do it can they please DM @Zeldapixel

Clearly Rising Star wasn't expecting that... But yet again neither was Splinterlands last summer and fall.

These are great issues to have, but when the rise comes too sharply, it's a pain to deal with it. We've seen that at Splinterlands.

It's great to see another game rising in popularity and who knows, maybe becoming a star of the blockchain games itself.

For anyone wondering, it takes time to rise in this game, so an initial investment might help, but it doesn't automatically put one on top. Experience matters to level up, and that is earned by doing missions. It's a grind. Bots are also not allowed.

In my opinion, one can still join Rising Star now and aim for top 100 in the ranking on the medium-long term, without a high investment. One can start playing with no investment at all.

Do you have an example of such a game? Not on blockchain.

I have some accounts with a lot of hive power and I could generate some credits for claiming free accounts with RC. However I don't know whether it's possible to transfer these tokens to other people.

No, it's not possible. Only to use them.

I wanted to gift some credits, but at the moment it is not possible. It would be good to help projects like this.

I know... I believe there was a discussion at some point about being able to gift/sell account claims. At the time it didn't look like it will be feasible with the chosen architecture.

Keep in mind that anyone can click the 'get started' button on leofinance.io and create a free Hive account using nothing more than their Twitter @.

A hugely underrated tool that our Hive dev overlords need to clone and make available for every Hive based app so these bottlenecks don't happen.

Yes, but in the back-end LeoFinance creates a Hive account for them. Which they can claim under certain conditions (I believe they need a certain amount of LEO staked). So LeoFinance either needs the account claims themselves (and they have them, until Project Blank comes out), or they pay out of pocket and recoup it later from the account being created when they claim it (if they claim it, otherwise it's an assumed loss).
