One of the truest and hardest quotes.

I will share something personal here, even if this is the quote of yesterday. It may show you @gatticus that your content is appreciated here :)

As you know I am a video game developer.
I am not only that, but this is still the main asset I currently represent to HIVE.

I have some young children. When I started EXODE last year, my country was on lockdown. Lockdown represented a great opportunity for me to spend fun time with them; I believe this is one great thing lockdown can do to families.

But I did things differently instead. My memory of lockdown is one of programming daily, almost from the first minute to the last, making new things come together, being inspired, and expressing on a blog on HIVE, and then finding a great gaming community. In the real world I only paused to eat, say hello and have a few hugs.

I paid a price: the price I paid was to be many times more absent for my children then I would have loved to.

But thanks to this, EXODE was successful!

I still regret not being more present with my children during that time; this is a small price to pay to be able to create something new, and it is not about time but memories you can create. Rest assured, we are a happy family :) they still had their happy times during lockdown.

But I think that regularly we also have to consider what is required in our life, what price we are not paying enough to succeed, or make what we want in life, and then, do something about it.

Thank you for this quote; it really has meaning.

Thanks for sharing this!
I know what you mean. During our lockdown, I was fortunate enough to be able to continue working from my home. Thinking this would be great, because I would get to spend more time with my family, proved to erroneous. I found myself working even more, because whereas I would leave the office to come home after working, I ended up having a hard time unplugging since my home was now my place of work. In the end, it was a great learning experience and one I won't forget. As the sole breadwinner for my family, it is easy to forget that providing a good life for them doesn't matter if I am never around to enjoy it with them. As you said, it is all about balance!
