HBD Interest Payouts For March 2022
It has been a full year and a month since Hive blockchain started paying out interests on HBD. New month has arrived. Time to look at the payments numbers for the month of March. Initially I wanted to inflate the numbers by 10x or even 100x as an April Fools' joke. Since the total amount of HBD interests paid turned out to be significantly higher than previous months, I didn't want a joke to distract you from the positive progress in HBD world. Feel free to scroll down to see the numbers.
HBD interest APR is still at 12%. Quick glance at the witness parameters set by top 20 witnesses, reveals that 13 of the top 20 are in favor of keeping APR at 12%. There are also two top witnesses who want to increase the APR to 15%: gook-karma and deathwing. One top witness signaling 13% APR. Two of the top witnesses think 10% APR is a better option, while two other top witnesses would prefer even lower APR of 7%. Overall, it looks like majority are happy with 12% APR.
HBD price has been uneventful in March, performed as expected and held $1 peg really well. What was really interesting is to see Hive price trying to compete again HBD for a stable coin title. For about a week or so Hive was also trading at around $1, just like HBD. Fortunately, HBD won the title of the best also stable coin, and Hive kept increasing in price. It is better if each coin performed their functions. We would like to continue to see HBD to hold $1 peg, and Hive keep appreciating in price.
Taskmaster4450 wrote a very interesting post proposing an implementation of Hive Savings Bond. The idea is to implement multiple option of longer term fixed income opportunities with HBD. For example, locking up HBD for a year and in return earn higher APR like 25%. Currently, interests are only paid for HBD in Savings. Funds in Savings can become liquid in 3 days if the wallet owner decides to withdraw. Locking funds for longer time is not new for Hive. We already lock up Hive for three months when we power up. In both cases: HBD in Savings and Hive Power there are incentives to do so. Hive Savings Bond would also be time-locked and provide higher incentives for longer lockup time. This topic attracted a lot of interest and discussion. It became a main topic in last week's Community Token Talk hosted by Theycallmedan and Starkerz.
In other HBD news, Smooth has published HBD stabilizer continuation March 2022 proposal. HBD Stabilizer has been super successful and instrumental in making HBD function as a stable coin. Not only it was able help with $1 peg, but also it has generated income for the Hive Decentralized Fund. The proposal is currently approved and funded. If you decide to vote for it please make sure to read the proposal first. Because it needs just enough votes to clear Return Proposal and not go above other approved proposals.
Due to the size of this proposal and the expectation that it functions as a 'return' type proposal, stakeholders should take care to not "overvote" beyond what is needed to clear the original return proposal. Any other proposals with fewer votes than this one are unlikely to receive continued funding.

As you can see, in March total HBD payments went up to 26,506 HBD. This is a big jump compared to 14,775 HBD of February. Account Mika is back in action and have received massive 10,359 HBD. Everybody else received under 1k HBD. I hope to see many more Mikas in the future. HBD has great potential as utility and low risk investment instrument.

It sounds incredible that Hive is able to pay such high interest rates and continue to grow as if nothing is happening, it just needs the last push to go mainstream
Most HIVE are staked so only a very few take advantages of the HBD deal.
Staking HIVE is okay, since you get about 8% interest, plus potential curation rewards, plus potential price appreciation. However those holding liquid HIVE should really consider either staking it as HIVE or exchanging it for HBD and staking that for the 12%. They're missing out on a lot.
At least one 'BANK' is covering losses from inflation. 😑
I get almost 2 HBD from the interest payout monthly. I will continue to transfer some more HBD into savings and eye to HBD bond. Thanks for the information.

some time ago the HBDs I received I transformed into HIVE to accumulate more and more HIVE and put them in stake, that is to make Power Up. But a few months ago I started putting HBDs in the Saving section. It seems to me that it is quite an interesting thing. The current 12% is a nice percentage

As discussed in your previous report, we probably need to average with February to wash out the "number of days per month" effects. However, even after doing so all indicators look great!

Ah good point. With <30 days in the month, some accounts would not have been able to claim.
Mine is definitely part of this list. I was not able to claim anything in February.
Along these lines, more or less every 6 years there will be one month with two claims (a 31-day month with a claim on the 1st and on the 31st) for each user. This should be quite rare, but with the amont of users claiming we may have a few of these every month.

Well I'm still on the list, that's a good sign. This is the first I've heard of the HBD savings bond proposal. That's an interesting idea. If there is longevity to thischainwhich I believe and hope that there is, then this savings account is a phenomenal investment. 12% returns are impressive by any standard.
USD M2 grew by 13.6% over the last year, so even at 12% you're still getting a negative return. USD is a shitcon lol

It looks like it's roughly the same amount if we count out the top person and it looks like I was out of the top 300. I did add quite a bit more HBD recently to my savings but I may have to add some more. The price of Hive is up so we should be getting some more HBD so which will make it easier to add to my savings.
As much as I like the stabilizer project to settle the price, I still think liquidity is a huge concern. People won't be able to get in and out with ease.

This is interesting. I only have one dollar in savings. My interest is about $0.05. As I still not claimed it. I just let it accumulate !
If you claim it, you will get interest on the interest. When it is pending, you don't, although of course unclaimed interest on the deposited amount continues to grow. Of course, with only 0.05 in pending interest this is a small amount, but you might as well claim it regularly. The claimed interest stays in savings.
You are right. I know it's a small amount. But if I start investing larger amounts, then it's definitely worth claiming it regularly. That way I can earn interest in interest. Thanks for the good advice !

Is 40% sustainable though? HBD is a long term solution. That's why witnesses try to stay conservative to make sure this is sustainable in a long run and doesn't cause any issues for the blockchain.
20% seems to be native and the rest is the Thor platforms doing, but it's paid in UST.
Is it sustainable? Probably the market has to decide, it might very well be. If you can transition only through the 'native main' token, it absolutely is nutz and will crash... But, adding to the mix some direct listings of the stable coin to DEXs and CEXs, there's just no reason to grow slower than what the market is willing to swallow. Lots of those will be devoured by Swaps and Pools anyway, quasi SIPed out of circulation while boosting the main tokens ecosystem. Inflation speed is absolutely reduced to being only a number, as long as the liquidity is not crashing the internal markets.
Or am I missing something important?
The demand for algorithmic stablecoins might be in the trillions, well, very probably is in multiple trillions over the next couple of years. That's literally a tremendously huge cake, maybe grab a piece or two.
HBD continues its stride.

Less accounts but more being paid out? If I'm reading that right doesn't sound very promising in terms of people building that up. I've started to restack mine again though. I found it better to convert the last two months into Hive and accumulate more value that way but with hive over $1 again I'm more of a hodler of HBD again.

More accounts too, compared to February. Even if it is same people, increase in the amounts is promising. Eventually others will figure it out too. Converting to Hive is a good idea too. But you can't always be sure if it was the right decision. If the goal is to increase HP, why not. I used to convert to HP all the time in the past.
Oh didn't know I was top 200 in reciving HBD from my savings account :D
Do you autoclaim your interest on HBD?
I set that up last year but having checked on peak'd it doesn't appear to have worked since last October. Do you know anywhere else I can check and see if I've received the interest other than peak'd?

I think you need to make some transfer action, even very small to trigger the payment. You still accumulate them even if your payment wasn't triggered.

HBD is making more splashed and acting as a stablecoin can offer a real revenue stream that you can easily convert (or somehow easy) to FIAT and make a living out of it. This is why at least I am building a good stash of it.

From month or two, I move my HBD in savings. Piece by piece my payout going up.
