Money Belongs To Wallets, Not To Hearts & Minds

Everybody needs money. It is an essential tool to go about our lives. Most would agree that while money has an important role in one's life, it is not what makes life the most interesting. All money is a representation of our abilities, skills, knowledge, and hard work. When these real human possessions converted to some sort of money, only then they may produce a different meaning, then it originally was meant to be. Money is important. But there are much more important things in life.

Money fulfills its purpose best when it is kept in the wallets. When it starts taking up space in hearts and minds where it may not belong to, it has a tendency of interfering with much more meaningful and fruitful properties that we have. To imagine, to learn, to create and innovate are only few among thousands if not millions of activities we can occupy our minds with. To help, to socialize, to discover, to explore, to know and appreciate are only few among thousands if not millions of pursuits we can fill our hearts with.

Sometimes money just serves as a distraction from our true potentials. We have created societies and systems in such a way that chasing after money is a necessity. Quite often we find these systems or guardians of these systems either due to incompetence, lack of interest, or maybe even corrupt intentions fail the very people these systems suppose to serve. This can make not worrying about money and focusing on talents we have, things we love to be engaged in as a waste of time. We have come up with slogans like Time is Money, to emphasize importance of spending time to make money.

At the same time throughout the history and even today we can see those who create art, build products, produced goods, provided services because they have passion in the professions they are engaged in are the most successful one. We can also see those who pursue idea with the only goal of making money, fail. Of course the financial motivations and passion in certain field is not completely separate as black and white. In reality we see the mixture of financial interest and doing things we like. Question is which is more prevalent and guides the creative process.

To borrow from Declaration of Independence, everybody has rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. In the conditions we live today, everybody deserves to achieve and maintain personal financial freedoms. Those who are in positions of decision making for many have gone too rogue with deceptive tactics that only serve the financial freedoms of few. We have tools that enable everybody to take their financial affairs into their own control and help reaching the goals of financial freedom. Such tools have arrived in a form of new ideas and technologies like bitcoin, other blockchain projects, efforts in transforming the web.

I intentionally used the word wallet as where money belongs to, rather than bank accounts, safes, pockets, or any traditional way of storing money. By wallet, I mean digital wallets like we have here on Hive. Hive wallet is one of my favorite wallets. I just wish it could also hold other coins as well. Crypto wallets provides tool for people to take true ownership of their assets and have full control over them. They also come with responsibility of keeping the secure.

This technology is here to stay, and will continue improving in coming years. We can utilize them in reaching financial goals, all while also pursuing more meaningful activities in life. In fact these activities bring meaning to not only individuals pursuing them but also those who they are shared with. They are precious. They have value. Blockchain technologies provide opportunities to build financial equities while doing these amazing things we may love to do. Hive is a great of example.

Hive already has shown the world how people from around the world, from all walks of life can engage in the network, sharing their talents and also be rewarded financially. It has proven that communities can be built that can eventually become self-sustaining and supporting the collective ideas of the community without relying to any central authorities or being subject for deception. Hopefully, this trend will continue, web three or web free efforts continue to grow and bring more amazing tools and opportunities to people. Hive is a leader in this space and hopefully it will continue to be and become much bigger than we ever thought. Possibilities are limitless.

Relying on central banks to guard the financial systems, relying on governments to protect and grow the economies doesn't seem to be the best way in achieving the financial freedoms people deserve. They have proven to do more damage than good. Regardless whose faults it may be, maybe it is not anybody's fault, the inflation of all world fiat currencies has been going crazy as of late. It doesn't matter which numbers from what sources you use. All that matters is, how purchasing powers have declined in an individual level. How all the things going on in the world, affected your wallets and ability to pay the bills.

Those who I have talked to so far, have all expressed that they have felt the inflation, expenses went up and income stayed the same. By my estimate real inflation is around 15%-20%. Try to tell that to your boss and ask for a raise. Most likely the answer will be, oh the company has been hurting too due to the pandemic and things. Sure we will give you 2% raise. Lol. But there are ways to get decent raises too. My point is, financial systems are in trouble, governments have lost they ways of fiscal responsibility, corporations are as greedy as ever if not more. There are so many things that are out of control. But also there are things we can control. We can control where we keep our assets. We can control where we keep our data. We can control where we build our social presence. We can control our ability to implement new technologies that actually help us in building financial stability and contribute in building better systems.

Keep your money in your wallets, where you are the only one who has full control over them. And use your talents, skills, knowledge and experiences in building and increase the financial equities in these wallets. Not a financial advice. Just a thought. What do you think? Where does your money belong to?

I keep mine in an air-gapped wallet with an x-pub loaded so I always have plenty of addresses to use without having to touch it and then run my node over tor, if you're not running your own node and generating your keys offline, is it really your wallet?

Knowledge is power! Money is just a tool to make your life better and acquire more skills. You are doomed of you let your finances control you! Keep them caged in your wallets and multiply 😝

" Everybody needs money " ...NO... we need to get back our minds and souls, that have been taken away from us by a fake payment instrument that is not even real but is an empty promise that banks uses and violently impose on us using governments and the military.

This fake payment tool no longer lets people know how their minds create value, it rather humiliate us and delete are minds and isolates us in small box. :(((

Wallet is for keeping money. That's how it's always been. Now you can go out buy things no need money. Replace with your credit card. That's is all you need or can use your smartphone, e wallet. I know use to bring money every where you go, and get back so much change !

All that matters is, how purchasing powers have declined in an individual level

Yes, that's what any state or corporation doesn't want to show...

Philosophy of money - that's what I would call this sincere post!

Yes, this is true. Money is just simple way to meet human needs of food and clothing. When a person has value in society, you find him aware of his rights and have a basis in life, while the other who works only to collect money lives a false temporary happiness because in the end he feels psychological discomfort and a lot of pressure in life.
I wish you a psychological comfort and happiness in your life. best weekend 😊
Happiness is in hearts, not in pockets❤️

My opinion is not aided to judge any entity. But the inflation rate is hitting every corner of the world. Even the blind can see this happening. And this only tells the government incompetence in regulating our finances. The more we rely on them, the more harm it causes to us.
Its high time we took actions of elevating our financial freedom upon ourselves. And I'm glad it's already happening here on hive.

My money belongs to my wallet but I also think people can vote with their wallet against the big corporations. In a way, I have seen the phrase "get woke, get broke" being tossed around a lot but I would prefer it if the companies I buy or use stay out of politics. I don't see the point in alienating your base for no real reasons and I hope that not buying their stuff will hurt them financially over time.

I loved this post. It makes me want to make a series of posts about similar thoughts and content that I would love to discuss more.

Yes, money is not what we need, rather what the money represents. Money is MEANT to represent investment, effort and ultimately as a form of energy transfer from one person to the next since we all do so many things in order to earn the money that then gets us what we want.

They print money every day, so never work for the money.

The subject of inflation is a worrying one. The loss of value of human labor and time is worrying because it has the potential to turn everyone short of a millionaire into slaves.

Inflation is out of our control but web 3.0 and Hive gives us some freedom from control. WE have the power to attribute value to human effort and time. WE have the power to influence how finances are treated in our world here.

What I would love to see happen is for our efforts on Hive and the efforts out there in the real world to be drawn ever closer.

There must be a time for this inflation crisis, along with the environmental crisis to be controlled by US, the humans that occupy this earth. Where governance is influenced by all the stakeholders.

Sure, anyone ought to be able to work themselves into wealth but nobody ought to be poor. For me, a South African, I see this as one of the main reasons why we have so much crime and why my children are always in danger. Because of others that need.

I want to be able to build myself up into the position where I can make a change... I will it to happen. I put in the work. Hive is definitely the way to go about making that happen.

Wow... this comment is longer than I expected... But yes. THANK YOU! I totally appreciate what you are saying and of course it seems to have sparked a whole collection of thought that must be shared!

I really like the term ‘Liquidity’ and thank you @geekgirl for your post about money, I just think money is a commodity like anything else: value, integrity and respect is what believe in. The money comes when we put all these things together. To answer your questions ; my money belong to the liquidation through investment and these investment just as you’ve stated are best in places like wallet , Real Estates, online activities. Putting money in bank in old school, let the money float in various investments preferred “online” (ict) .
If you agree with me do well to put some upvotes 👍

Time is money is one of the things that HIVE taught me.

I think that most people consider money a crucial item to survive. Therefore, it would not be easy for them to separate money from heart and mind.

Nice write up! Funny how both the heart and mind as well as the wallet are intertwined. . Everyone owning a wallet in any crypto blockchain platform certain got his or her mind in it . Constantly checking your wallets to monitor earning activities certainly means one’s mind is fixed at it .

Unfortunately or fortunately (this depends on the point of view), we all need to rely on banks at some point. This is particularly true to buy a piece of land and build a house on it. Moreover, we will also need them as long as for many payments we will have no choice to go through them.

At the current stage, I hence don't see how we can get rid of banks. Although I agree with what you said: I would prefer to be in full control of my assets.

Relying on central banks to guard the financial systems, relying on governments to protect and grow the economies doesn't seem to be the best way in achieving the financial freedoms people deserve.

It's the total opposite. What's even worse is that governments have started working hard on CBDCs.

While getting wealth is a necessity, being in the right frame of mind is more important. By that I mean, mental health over wealth. It's not the wisest decision to chase money as the only purpose of our lives. If we do this then other areas of our lives might just suffer.

On the other hand, I concur that money is best kept where you have full custody. That way, you can always access and retrieve your money whenever and anytime you want. Cases of money being freezes only happens when you leave your money in the hands of other entities.

Holding digital value is a responsibility that some are not prepared to take on. It is easier to simply entrust a bank or other financial institutions, or products. However, they are missing out on true ownership and the benefits and sovereignty that it brings.

the first part of this post resonates with me. A lot of us are caught up in our hyper capitalistic mindset and hustle culture that we fail to realize what's truly important. we define ourselves by what we have and not who we are. I have written about these things a couple of times and as an individual, it is imperative for me that i get out of this rat race and at this point in my life the only thing that gives me that option is crypto. Fortunately, i find myself doing what i love and earning from it. This is such a wholesome thing for me and i am grateful. Most people tend to toil through difficult jobs just so they can be free, so i do not take this opportunity for granted.
