Sunday Scenery-Lucy Edition

The other day my mom called me and asked if I would be okay with watching their puppy for them for a couple extra days. Mom and Dad needed to drive to a neighboring state for a family memorial service, and I had already offered to watch my new little sister, Lucy. Since they were already over that way, they thought they might stop by and visit some dear friends for a couple of days if I was amiable to watching the pup for a bit longer.

I told her that I didn't mind at all.

Lucy is a Bernese Mountain Dog, Australian Shepherd cross. This of course means she is full of energy and wants to be in the middle of everything.

Well, if one is looking for action, then my homestead is the place to be.

For the past couple days it has amused me to no end seeing the few month old pup getting introduced to Kat-life. Let's just say Lucy is ready to get into her crate at night and sleeps soundly until morning.

I mean, can you imagine being a kid and getting thrown in a house that has random teenagers (and their puppies) wandering in and out? Lucy-girl has been pausing and looking up at me with looks of perplexity and wonder many times over the past few days.

Last night when I came home from game night, there were seven teenagers spread around the place. They had started a bonfire in the yard and were eating Twizzlers and mocking each other. Some of them crashed in our 1%er trailer and some in various rooms.

My daughter's friend even brought her little shepherd/husky cross who is the same age as Lucy, and hilarity ensued. Those two puppies frolicked for hours until they promptly passed out.

This morning Lucy has been my little shadow while I go about chorin. We have been having some absolutely beautiful weather that has melted a ton of snow and introduced all the ice that was lurking underneath the stuff.

So while I walked to the barn in the glorious sunshine this morning to feed the chicks and ducks, I got a very entertaining diversion in the form of pup-capades.

IMG_8952.jpg

Lucy and Cora On Ice will probably not be coming to a rink near you, which is sorta a sad thing, as the random slips, yips, and falls looked pretty expertly not choreographed.

IMG_8954.jpg

Once in the barn, Lucy stuck her nose in all the business. As I filled the bucket with ice cold water for the ducks, she inspected. When I opened the chick nursery she popped her head in to gaze upon the chicks. Bruce was especially offended by the intrusion and lectured Lucy like an offended library patron who discovered that books don't all conform to one's ideology.

It was pretty cute.

The only animals who aren't too thrilled about Lucy's visit are the cats. All of them are giving both me and the pup the stink eye. I don't know why, Lucy isn't mean, I mean, two of the cats siblings live with Lucy up at my parent's place.

Maximum unhappiness achieved

But then again, you know how most peeps are with change. No gracias.

IMG_8957.jpg

Lucy's going home Tuesday or so, so I think the cats might recover.

IMG_8958.jpg

Aside from the cat's misery, it's been a pretty awesome visit thus far. On the way back from the barn Lucy, Cora, and I made a pit stop in the greenhouse. Last fall I strung up some sunflower seed heads in there to dry for this coming season's patch. Lucy darted in the green house and gave it an inspection. It was nice to know that she approved of the space.

Almost as much as I approve of her. Right now she is sitting next to my fleece pajama pant clad form. She's a pretty good girl.

Lucy looks adorable! <3 Cuteness overload!

Sad that the cats don't approve but they will have to get used to it I guess, as they live in the same house lol.

I remember those days with snow and having dogs, they went bananas running around and had so much fun.

Looks so good the pictures of the snow, but I admit that I'm happy we didn't see any here and already entered spring temperatures :)

Hope you're doing well, dear @generikat I see you vote my posts, and I appreciate the support! Hope the health is going better too!

Aww, I told her you thought she was adorable, which caused her to pause chewing on whatever the heck she is chewing on behind me, silly girl.

I think the cats will be happy when she goes home with my parents tomorrow or the next. lol

Yesterday, it was super warm, so a bunch of the snow disappeared. As much as I enjoy winter during its time, I sure am happy when I can walk on the actual ground again. Okay, I would enjoy the balmy temps of the Spanish coast a ton, but at least one of us gets to enjoy it!

Speaking of, you got yourselves a car right? I hope you are enjoying the heck out of that, all sorts of exploring has been happening I bet.

Feeling much better, being out in the sun has helped a ton.

Hope you are having a splendid day!

Aww, Lucy is beautiful, I'm glad you were able to take care of her and she is having a vacation at your house. I always say that the happiest puppies are the ones that play on the beach, but now I can also say that they are the ones that play in the snow. I'm sorry that cats can't join in on the fun, but that's the way they are, I think they fear dogs by default. It won't be long until the peace of your home returns and Lucy returns home, don't worry!

Thanks for sharing your day on the Daily Blog. Greetings and I wish you a good week ❤️.

Aww thanks! I told her your sweet compliment and she smiled, well at least I think it was a smile, then she plopped on the floor and chewed on something lol!

Our cats love our dogs, just not new ones, which I totally get, and yep, they will be having a party for sure when she heads home with my parents lol.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you have a fantastic week too😊

What an adorable pup! Our cats don't welcome unfamiliar people, let alone unfamiliar dogs. They are quite snooty, in fact.
