My ListNerds Experiment

Before The BlockChain

Before The BlockChain

Listnerds was a mailer used mainly by marketers that wanted to promote their business opportunities to people interested in that sort of thing. Admittedly we are a pretty rare breed. I still often review the opportunities that are out there.

Really responsive mailers are hard to come by, so many mailers have very little daily activity. Listnerds never fell into the unresponsive mailer group, and it has been through some ups and downs.

After The BlockChain

The Afilliatech team did a great job migrating the mailer to the Hive BlockChain. I have used the newly rebuilt platform since February 29th, with very mixed results.

I am a marketer from way back we are talking over 2 decades, and the Listnerd audience had no interest in my marketing emails. None whatsoever. It took me a while to change gears and comply with the wants of the community.

The Earning Potential Intrigued Me

The Listnerd mailing platform because it is now on blockchain rewards its users for not only sending emails but also reading and voting on mails sent by other members.

When I started sending mails on a regular basis, I noticed a weird pattern. Sending to 5,000 members and sending a Solo to the full Listnerd membership yielded the same results of both Opens and Click Thru Rates.

I get new members to my mailer site daily because it is pretty straightforward. Being on the BlockChain I found it very difficult to promote to my audience because it not only involved joining Listnerds but to get those rewards you also needed to be a Hive BlockChain member as well.

There Are People That Have Had Success With Listnerds

I am not one of these people, by the time I caught to the way Listnerds works and started receiving CTP and Listnerd Token rewards, it was pretty much too late to be profitable with just the daily rewards, mainly because the Listnerd token lost value so quickly after the buy wall came down. The token fell from 1.5 Hive per Listnerd to .021 Hive per Listnerd token.

There are a lot of people that have built a balance of over 100K Listnerd tokens, and they will be in great shape if the token ever rebounds, but I am not sold that this will happen.

The Uncertainty of Hive Level 2 Tokens

Keep in mind this is just my opinion based on my experiences, but I have noticed that the level 2 tokens are normally released for anywhere between 1 and 10 Hive tokens a piece. People write about the new tokens and maybe they buy some and recommend them to their friends to buy.

For whatever reason these level 2 tokens do not seem to have any staying power and so many of them are sub-penny and have been for years regardless of the trends of the crypto market.

For all of these reasons I will be saying farewell to Listnerds and Hive.

Hmm interesting this is your view mate, guess you got to do what is best for you.

@ghcamry having someone with your experience and knowledge in marketing plus building a business online should have something to add to all these communties after 20 years in the game i would have thought.

I would look for ways to bridge the gap between Hive and TL2ICM give your community there and here a reason to visit both rather than give up all together.

Have you asked @jongolson how long it took before he started seeing success?
Get his advice or
You could even talk to @flaxz about Larry is Alive, your site use to be involved with Luke is Alive right?

TL2ICM could even have it's own account, community and token here, there are plenty of people that could advise you within the CTP and We Are Alive Communities.

I agree with you about many of the layer 2 tokens. Many are created without a clear purpose (other than have fun) or an understanding of the work involved to maintain momentum and build a community.

Having said that, there are some tokens with a solid backing and plan and a leadership team. I would include SPI and EDS among those.

I've just written elsewhere that I feel there were a lot of unrealistic expectations about ListNerds, and that there is something to be said for holding the basic free subscription which provides a weekly email.

Appreciate your decision, though, and I wish you well.

Hi Rob, and thanks for sharing your experience with Listnerds and Hive, and I wish you good luck with what you do in the future.

That being said to give my opinion, you will not have much success promoting an off chain solution on Hive, quite the opposite, taking an off chain affiliate program to Hive and bringing that community with it is something that will have a lot more success.

And I also think that the best for you would have been to create your own token, that way you are not bound to any others, and you can build it up the way you want it instead of having to follow what others want.

An honest review and I think the way LN is at the moment, it is only for Hivers.
Good luck with your future endeavours.
