In the 1984 blockbuster Daniel played by Ralph Macchio moved from New Jersey to Southern California, might as well be a different country as the two states have vastly different cultures. Poor Daniel is being bullied by a group of kids. Long story short Daniel is rescued by a martial arts expert in Okinawan Karate played by the legendary Pat Morita.

Mr. Myagi is such a legendary character, a warrior with honor and respect. Pat Morita had me believe he was Mr. Myagi. The magic of Mr. Myagi is he could turn any mundane chore into a complete Martial Arts Mastery Course.

My Best Friend & I Take 3 Walks Daily

Have you met Bentley, he is a Boston Terrier that chooses to live with us. Bentley is just about the best friend a guy can have. Normally when we walk it is business as usual. A little sniff here, and a little sniff there, “Squirrel!!” Sniff, sniff, water the gardenia, maybe sniff around that bush again.

Then there are days when I get inspired, or a problem I am working on suddenly has a solution. The lesson here is if you are trying to work through something just take your dog for a walk, the solution may be closer than you think.

That would be funny, can’t help but laugh out loud. It would be a sight for the neighbors me walking Bentley and having a full conversation. They would have me fitted for a jacket with the sleeves that tie in the back.

Being outside in the fresh air the exercise of walking around and just being away from the source of the problem can be very helpful. Watching Bentley take the live in the now simple approach to everything can have a de-stress effect. Nobody lives in the now more than a dog or a cat.
