Slay the Dragon 🐉

I have been participating in the Zealy adoption campaign with Leofinance.io, where you can win $10,000. It is a grand prize that we are participating in several; although I started a little late, I am in the leaderboard and hoping to be among the top 50.

This campaign will end on June 10; today's mission is to create a drawing or design of a Lion attacking a Dragon.

To create our drawing, first, I imagined my lion and the dragon would be, and what action the lion would perform with the dragon; I have always liked graphite drawings, where we can create those beautiful images because it is where we develop our sketch that after we have to do the highlighting, for a better appreciation of our drawing.

To start, I took a blank sheet and my graphite pencil, and I first designed a giant dragon with large claws and a long tail. My imagination of the dragon is similar to lizards, but with the size of dinosaurs; I have seen many dragons movies, one that I liked is Eragon, this is a movie that came out in 2006, based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Paolini.

Remembering this movie of the dragon, I was designing my drawing with a head of the basic form, to add that those characteristics that make the difference between a dinosaur to a great dragon are the almost pointed ears but curved form, those big teeth that make that any person fears to be eaten by it, a tongue towards outside.

The other thing that makes detail a great dragon is his body; where I drew a long neck, a large body between his side had two large wings, another feature that highlights a dragon.

To finish my drawing was the long tail with crest and at the end of the pointed tail and its legs similar to that of an eagle with its nails with large claws and large.

Continuing with the drawing comes the best part: drawing that big ferocious lion attacking the giant dragon. Lions have always been the most potent in the jungle, which is why it is called the King of the wilderness; a lion attacks his enemy or prey always first does it stealthily; he calculates to make his attack, and he does not throw himself first but calculates stalks his target.

After silently calculating this, the lion jumps towards his enemy, where he opens his mouth in search of closing the mouth of his enemy, his big front paws on top of his body, seizing him.

That was the way I imagined it was attacking its prey; now, to draw it, I started with its head where which makes a big lion its big mane, the lion in its mouth is similar to a cat; I was drawing it with those big teeth; that was what was going to attack the snout of the dragon, I continued with the two front paws which is the one that catches the dragon and its body and its tail.

After my sketch, I started the last step with the same graphite brush; I only darkened it, remarked it with the same graphite charcoal, and gave the final touches to my drawing.
