Ask Leo: Is Educational degree slowly losing its importance in the finance world

Right from when we were little, we were taught that to succeed in life, you have to be educated and so we all went to school with the intent of not failing but passing. As time goes on, the relevant of the degree seems to reduce more especially in my country where there is great percentage of unemployed people.

With the onset of this, lot of people decided to pump into the business world. Virtually everyone Today is an entrepreneurer with one business or the other. This makes me question the relevance of education in the finance world. Most of the most successful people on earth don't even go to the college. That shows how little the importance of education is now.

The reason why this is so is because being educated doesn't guarantee you a job in my country. Use me for an example, I studied microbiology but I never use it to work one day. I'm an entrepreneurer and an artist today. This got me thinking that, what if I had learn one skill or business during the time I used in school, I would have been so successful today.

Lot of salary earners who are working with their degree do earn little. This is by far not encouraging at all. Should we now lose faith in Education? No. School has a way of preparing you for the outside. The competition, the zeal ,the drive are all born through education. How do we now survive in this situation? Once things aren't going to well with the job you're working with, that's when one start a business or try to acquire more skills in order to get better. Also the government can help by creating more jobs and by doing this, the educational degree will have more respect.
