What I'm Doing To Be Prepared

Life is filled with unknowns and crazy things happening. One thing you can do to help regain control and have some piece of mind is being prepared. One of the most effective ways for preparing yourself for whatever life throws your way is through food storage.

In this video I go over a recent bulk haul from Azure standard which I get once a month. This once a month haul often has different products and this month was focused on bulk items that have a long storage life.

I also take you down into my root cellar which is quickly filling up on all of the foods I love. That’s a critical part of all of this! Don’t just stock up on random foods. Stock up on the things you enjoy the most so when and if you are in for the long haul you’ll feel good and enjoy what you’re having. I don’t know about you but I LOVE FOOD! Food quickly changes my mood. Eating something I don’t enjoy often has a negative impact on my mood for some part of the day. By having foods on hand I use and love, I know I’ll always have that to look forward to.

I think one of my favorite things from this haul is the wheat grinder so I can make flour and make bread at any time!

One important misconception on stocking up is people say you’re hoarding. But if it’s food I use and will be using I see it as being prepared and being smart. It’s investing in yourself and protects you from things like inflation, supply shortages and other unforeseen issues that may come your way.

I’m also now heavily focused on growing my own food and plan on starting up my garden to all new levels come next spring. It kind of got away from me this year which I’ll show in a future video lol

Awesome stuff!

Imagine having the foresight to store and preserve food in an era of just-in-time consumerism! Wonderful to have comforting bread in times of strife. Being prepared is not hoarding when you plan on using it.

I like to prep fermented veggies. Seems like some of the best stuff in the world is fermented. Including beer!

100% agree with you, stocking up is not hording. Pushing inline and taking all the food left before someone else can buy it is rude. but making sure you have food, that you will eat is totally fine. Here in Australia we had people pushing over people to get toilet paper... I made a bee line to getting seeds and fertilizer and medications... lol... There are plenty of worse things to be without other than toilet paper...

I'm trying to find some better storage methods for my bulk food stores at the moment. Its a tricky business.

Can't wait to see your garden as you grow it up.

Lots of options and ways to do it but it takes time to learn them and some trial and error. I just did a video on the top 5 food preservation methods I use that I'll be adding here on 3speak soon!
