SOME REMARKABLE EVENTS IN NIGERIA PART II

Hello friends it was a good time be be having a good night rest and coming back to life again this morning. On todays article, I shall be discussing about some events in Nigeria from time past which happens to be the part II of the one I stopped before. Event are like memories which an never be forgotten at all because those that did it themselves are icons in the country which their name can never be forgotten in the history of the country. This people have made a mark or they have made a good impact in the country which is why they cannot be forgotten at all.

SOME EVENTS IN NIGERIA FROM THE PAST TIMES
In the previous article I wrote, I talked about the October 1st which was when Nigeria gained her independence, and also I talked about the Biafra war lead by late chief Col. Odemeguw Ojukwu which was fought from ‎6 of July 1967 till 15th of January 1970. This incidence happened six years after Nigeria gained her independence. This war took a lot of lives and properties many things were destroyed and calamity reign in the country during this time properties worth millions of naira were destroyed during this fight it was a sad day to remember. In lieu with this I also talked about general mutala Muhammad which was the first ruler to rule the country and was killed in Lagos. This is a recall of what the previous article entails.

1. October 1st 1979:
After the Nigeria Civil War, the country was trying her best to make sure things in Nigeria stabilize, and noticed that there was need to become democratic so Elections were conducted to choose the president of the country and late Alhaji Shehu Shagari emerged to be the first civilian President of the country. There after he ruled for a while before he was being taken over by another president.

2. June 12th 1993:

This day is referred to as Nigeria’s democracy day. This day is set as a public holiday to the general populace because it was the day which the Presidential election was carried out between late Chief M.K.O Abiola and Bashir Tofa. The election was said to be the very best election every carried out in Nigeria as at then even till this very day.. late Chief M.K.O Abiola emerge to be the president, but it was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida, which then led to a public protest within the country.

3. June 4th 1996:

During this time, was when late chief M.k.o Abiola wife was killed in Lagos by some gun men which attacked her and her driver on their way. As revealed according to the Investigations carried out then, it was revealed that the killing was carried out by some men which were six in number. This incident was very wild and broadcasted within the telecasts in the country.

4. May 29th 1999:
Nigeria has been operating on the military regim before this current time, and Nigeria was hoping to become democratic to gain their freedom but election was the only solution to this. Elections was then conducted and then President Olusegun Obasanjo emerged as the winner and he became the president and he ruled for some time before he gave the seat to the next president. Ever since then, Nigeria has remained to be a democratic country and has being free from the boundage of being a slave to anyone.

5. January 27th 2002:

During this time, there was a massive explosion which happened in Ikeja military Cantonment in Lagos on a Sunday evening around 6pm. This explosion led to loss of lives, many lives were calimed during the fire out break. This explosion was a result of the fire that explode around the market which was the base to the Nigerian soldiers and was also a family house for them where they stay with their family more like a staff quarters. This fire spread out to every angles of the building which caused a wild explosion. This explosion killed many of the soldiers and also their families also. After this explosion, many were left homeless and this caused disaster to lots of people but only few were able to survive the incident.

This are some of the memorable time and event here in Nigeria which can never be forgotten in the history of Nigeria which they still celebrate till date.
