Winter Holidays: A Great Opportunity To Revamp My Old "Top 5 Programs" Blog!
I have had a wonderful four days!
With absolutely no appointments I have spent most of that time in my room working on my online business and loving every minute of it!
I am especially pleased with the last two days when I turned my attention to one of my blogs - http://top5programs.com - which I launched back in 2017.
For about ten years I had been struggling away to grow an online affiliate marketing business, not entirely unsuccessfully, but with plenty of setbacks and distractions along the way, making money here, losing money there... you get the picture, I'm sure!
Top 5 Programs: Finding The Middle Path Between Multiple Income Streams & Concentrated Focus
I got so fed up with programs coming and going that I came up with the idea of finding the perfect balance between "multiple streams of online income" and a disciplined focus on a few carefully chosen programs.
I felt that working with five programs was about right, especially if they complimented each other. Most of the programs I work with are online tools such as blog platforms, autoresponders, trackers and so forth, so they do indeed work well together.
And so the idea of working with just five programs was born. I would create a blog that promoted the five most reliable programs in a bid for STABILITY, QUALITY, and PROFITABILITY.
That was not to say that I wouldn't work with other programs, such as traffic exchanges, safelists and other promotional sites. It was just that I would not scatter my efforts and energy by attempting to promote them along with everything else! My "Top 5 Programs" concept would provide me with the discipline and focus I needed.
And so, sometime in 2017, I launched Top5Programs.com...
But the thing was...
It was really difficult to maintain STABILITY across all five programs! LOL!
What was it old T.S. Eliot wrote...?
In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo.
For me it was more a case of...
On the web the programs come and go
Talking of making-money-oh.
Programs came and programs went, helped on their way in several cases by Paypal pulling the plug on much of the affiliate marketing industry...
I think the only program that has been on my "Top 5" list for the lifetime of the blog is WealthyAffiliate.com.
Gradually, however, as I gained more experience and clarity, I began to find my long-term "Top 5" programs and the first critera, STABILITY, slowly began to establish itself.
Two Years Of Top-5 Stability
Right now, at the end of 2021, I'm pleased to report that I have made NO CHANGES to the list of Top 5 programs for over a year. Indeed, the last program to be elevated to the list was the relaunched ClickTrackProfit, which I added in January 2020. So we are coming up to two years of complete STABILITY across the five programs, and with that also comes QUALITY and increasing PROFITABILITY.
Also, although the programs were not always on my Top 5 list, I have been with each one for several years. I joined SFI way back in 2007, LeadsLeap in 2008, The Prosperity Marketing System in 2012, Wealthy Affiliate in 2015, and revived my dormant Click Track Profit account in January 2020.

After making the video, I spent a couple of days cleaning up my Top5Programs.com blog, getting rid of references to defunct websites, and bringing the content up to date and into alignment with the current mission and focus of the blog.
I hope to spend as much of the rest of the holidays as possible cleaning up and revamping my other blogs and ebooks as well, ready for a dynamic and exciting 2022!

For me, the holidays are a horrible distraction from my business-building activities. Primarily because this is the time of year everyone wants to gather but nobody's schedule quite lines up so what should have been one event turns into three separate events.
Any more than five programs would become unmanageable, especially when considering how much focus it takes just to turn a profit on 1 program, let alone trying to learn new skills and juggling more programs than a person can handle.
