Lagos is known for been the commercial hub of my great country due the seaports that surrounds it. Migrated to Lagos couple of years ago in search for a job, or what they refer to has greener pastures. The “Johnny Just Come” (JJC) after seen some expensive cars drive by me at the park, I said to my self in our Local street slang “I nor Come this Lagos Come Count Bridge”. It simply meant I didn’t come here to waste any time, which actually was my determination on my first day in the commercial city.

Accommodation, I had more like a soft landing thus I had to stay with a family relative for a while until I have enough money to afford my own space. Staying with people ain’t that easy, because they are counting on you to do stuffs even if you are not too comfortable on carrying out the task.
I survive this period by he’s grace, as it told on me socially. I got a placement for my service year in an electrical engineering firm, although I had knowledge and experience in sciences I didn’t turn down the offer because I simply wanted to have a professional experience. The firm which wasn’t far from where I resided, sometimes I just take a walk to the office or Jump the Danfo buses if I feel a little tired or am running late.

So the moment I have been waiting for arrived after I got my first job offer letter to work on the island, the savings towards getting a place of my own commerced. Before I was able to come up with the money I started house hunting, when I hear stories about how Lagos landlord can be maximizing every space in their compound simply because real estate is one of the lucrative business in Lagos.

I moved from puller to post, paying transportation for both the agent and myself. It got to an extent that the money I spent on transportation only should have been enough to pay for the agreement. I got tired and frustrated and moved all my attention to an online property hub, which indirectly reduces the cost of transporting the agent which I am in contact with and also another agent who is marking the property plus myself and also the stress to moving from one property to another.

So I inspected one in a neighborhood, it was beautiful built, but the solicitor wants me to paint the interior part of the building for reasons unknown to me. Inspected the kitchen discovered that the staircase has already taking more than half of the space, the most interesting thing was the guest toilet which the space was only big enough to accommodate the Water closet (WC). All the stories I read and hear online as regards getting an apartment in Lagos I experienced it first hand.

Getting an apartment that was tailored to my budget was another difficult task, because most Landlords always requested for newly married couples or about to get married individuals. I am just a bachelor just looking for a place to start off my life.
After so many search’s online and fruitless inspection visits, there came a sliver lining an apartment which was about my budget but I little above it which I over looked. Immediately I placed a call to the agent, I was invited to pay a visit to the apartment. The beauty about all this stress, I really wanted to move into a newly built apartment and me also been the first occupant of the place. I carried all transactions, with all the documents signed and stamped I moved in which immediately took me off from being homeless and also made me proud of owing my own space.
