RE: Start Treating LEO and Hive as Assets

I agree with you. I am one of those people who've been cashing out for various reasons and I've started over from scratch more than once during the years I've been here. Always looking to grow and contribute in some way though, trying to find myself on chain to some extent as well, but it's "a tough sell" when my wallet shows nothing compared to what it could have been, so to speak.

I have lost regular support from "OG's" due to that behaviour and the only way I can show people that I'm here for the long haul, is to contribute and grow my stake. I can totally understand that cashing out doesn't look any different from being a pure "taker" though.

But, even though I understand those decisions, to not wanting to support someone who's just going to cash out everything, or almost everything over and over again, I also believe that it's a bit weird to look at things like that.

I mean, we're all here to make money in some way and we have a place where people from all over the world can contribute and earn rewards. Some people are in more need of extra cash than others. Some need everything and others won't need a single cent in years. It's due to how one's life situation is, and I am definitely not in a situation where I can judge anyone for it.

I wish things where different, sure, but if user A is cashing out everything he earns, but continues to create content or contribute in other ways so he is being rewarded for his efforts.. - Who am I to blame him for cashing out?

Honestly speaking, if I had so much stake so I could live entirely off of my curation & author rewards and still grow my account, I would. Being in a rough spot from time to time in life, having financial troubles and cashing out what I have earned through my contributions on chain shouldn't really affect such things, at least in my opinion.

It's like rewarding people for "what they might do" instead of rewarding them for what they just did, and that is a bit weird when everyone says "create quality content and you'll earn rewards" whenever someone new shows up.

I've been here long enough to see piss-poor, pure spam content be rewarded based on who the author were, so just rewarding people based on their efforts is far away from accurate, even though it might be our vision. We've been rewarding and are being rewarded on a daily basis for who we are and not entirely for the reason of our latest contribution and as long as things are like that, I won't judge anyone for cashing out what they have earned.

Plenty of junk content on hive that just gets auto curated for tons and no one bats an eye at it lol That being said myself wont blend into that and support it. I can totally understand cashing out from time to time but to totally reduce you stacks to near nothing seems like they are exiting the platform and care nothing about it. At least keeping some of the stake or showing in a post you are moving it into CubDefi or something at least shows me a little support on that end. That's me personally though and my thinking I'm sure it's not the bulk of the votes that go out that's for sure.

On one hand its your money and you earned it and you should be able to do as you please with it with no repercussions.

And at the same time its like a giant fund we all share together.

I lean more towards being happy that the income we generate here is helping people live.

When its my turn to take, I hope those around me are supportive and not mad.
