RE: Hive: Taking Advantage Of A Life-Changing Opportunity

Yeah, okay. I give you that one. You have a great point.

Optimized content is still minimal. However, we are improving and that is all that is required.

True and I'm really glad to see that. I still wish curators would focus more on optimized content that has the potential to bring traffic from the outside though. In-house traffic doesn't do much in terms of growth. I wonder how long it will take before people realize that.

I would love to see this as well. I’m trying to find a good framework for this as I do think the curators and community at large could do a better job. I wonder if we should do something like create an “optimized content feed” on discord where anyone can share content they believe fits the criteria of outward facing + optimized

I would like to be a part of a small group that starts creating optimized content.

I have a strong pinterest presence I would like to build upon.

I could commit to 3-5 optimized articles per week - by either creating new content, or finding my evergreen articles and optimizing those/adding appropriate text etc.

That sounds awesome. The best approach would probably be to see if you have any older content that generates traffic and update them if that's the case.

Khal, I'm just trying to bring up some points and issues I face, see or things I am concerned about.

The lack of optimized content is one of the issues I see in terms of growth. I don't have a solution or a fix for it, but I truly believe that we would see more optimized content being created if we somehow could reward it.

Either more than usually due to the fact that it is created to bring traffic over time, or by somehow reward authors XX % of the Ad Revenue or XX Tokens through some on-going contests or whatever.

People usually take action once they have an opportunity to earn something. People doesn't seem to understand, or care about growth enough to put in extra effort now, to eventually get to the point where they earn/profit for it.

Lots of social media influencers have millions of followers, so really, it would only take a handful of us to start making optimized content.

You don't have to yell it from the rooftops, you just have to find a group of 5 who are willing to work together to optimize content.

I would gladly be a part of a small group and would agree to post 3-5 optimized articles per week while sharing them on facebook, twitter, and my darling pinterest.

Let me know if you are interested.

You don't have to yell it from the rooftops, you just have to find a group of 5 who are willing to work together to optimize content.

While that is true and would obviously have a positive effect on the overall growth in terms of organic traffic, it would be a lot better with more than just a handful of people.

It's basically the same with engagement. We can't have only a handful of people doing all the heavy lifting. It's not sustainable over time.

People are likely to take more actions if- and when there is an opportunity for them to earn something, which could easily be seen with the previous "initiative 10" in the past and when the news about Khal sending 100 LEO to whoever ranked higher than him in the engagement leaderboards.

It's not fun to spend several hours doing keyword research and creating outward-facing optimized content if you aren't rewarded for your efforts.

While rewards might come and go and should never be taken for granted, LEO/Hive-related content is rewarded a lot more and more often than other types of content, which unfortunately doesn't make it "worth it" for content creators.

It's like @jk6276 said in a comment on one of my recent articles:

Internal content earns better. I know that if I write 10 posts, and one of them is about hive or LEO, it will be the best performing post. I really hope that curators work on this, and actively look for more outward facing content.

He also added this:

I guess the internal content thing is understandable, as it is the one thing that all of us in the community have in common, so its likely to catch more interest.

Writing for a twitter audience, or for google search results will bring outside attention, but may be of little interest to most on Leo.

It's a tough nut to crack.

I agree with everything he said and I honestly think that this is the biggest issue we have in terms of growth.

Creating outward-facing content that attracts people outside of Hive is difficult and time consuming as it is, but if that type of content is also somewhat ignored, or at least "not preferred" by the curators, we won't see much of that content being produced. It's unfortunate and also why I've tried to have discussions about it previously as well.

DHF funds are being used for marketing and things like that, and that is awesome and in my opinion also necessary, but optimized content doesn't cost us anything more than an upvote (at the time I write this at least), and organic traffic is far better than any marketing you can do. Over time that is. Despite all of that, optimized content is still not something curators are focused on.

Sorry for the rant.. :) - I do like the positive attitude and the suggestion. We would definitely benefit from more optimized content, so the more we have, the better it will be. I'm just somewhat confused, frustrated and at times annoyed for how certain things seems to work, or how some people seem to prioritize, when I personally so easily can see the extreme potential we are missing out on by not focusing more on optimized content in general.
