Are you tired of spending hours formatting your blog posts on the Hive blockchain for it to just not show up the way you thought it would? Are you looking for a faster and more efficient way to create content that is both visually appealing and easy to read? If so, then you should consider learning Markdown language.

Don't let the idea intimidate you if you have no experience with coding. It's really straight forward and easy to learn. It can actually be a gateway into the coding world. With Hive, you can incorporate some limited HTML and styling so once you are comfortable with Markdown, you can learn to incorporate some more advanced code and styling into your blog.

What is Markdown Language?

Markdown language is like the superman of blogging, it allows you to format text without the use of complex HTML or CSS code. It was created in 2004 and has since become a popular choice among bloggers, writers, and developers.

The beauty of Markdown is that it's like the "easy button" of formatting, it's very easy to learn and use. It uses simple symbols and characters to create headings, lists, links, and other formatting elements. For example, to create a heading, you would use a "#" symbol followed by a space and the text of the heading. To create a bullet point list, you would use a "-" symbol followed by a space and the text of the list item.

Benefits of Using Markdown Language on the Hive Blockchain

  1. Efficiency: One of the biggest benefits of using Markdown language on the Hive blockchain is that it allows you to create and format your content much faster. With just a few simple symbols and characters, you can easily create headings, lists, links, and other formatting elements. This means that you can spend less time formatting your content and more time focusing on creating high-quality content, and more time to watch cat videos on the internet.

  2. Easy to read: Markdown language uses simple symbols and characters to create formatting elements, which makes your content easy to read and visually appealing. The structure of the text is immediately clear and the content is easy to navigate. Plus, it's like giving your content a makeover, it will look better and more presentable.

  3. Easy to learn: As mentioned earlier, Markdown is very easy to learn and use. Even if you have no prior experience with coding or formatting, you can quickly learn the basics of Markdown and start creating beautiful blog posts on the Hive blockchain and earn crypto from your hard work. Think of it like learning a new language, but instead of learning how to say 'Hello' in another language, you'll be saying "# Headings".

  4. Compatibility: Aside from Hive, Markdown is compatible with many different platforms and tools, including Wordpress. This means that you can use the same formatting and styling techniques across multiple platforms, which can save you a lot of time and effort. It's like having a universal remote, but instead of controlling your TV, you'll be controlling the format of your blog.

Getting Started with Markdown Language on the Hive Blockchain

  1. Learn the basics: Before you start creating content on the Hive blockchain, it's important to learn the basics of Markdown. There are many resources available online that can help you get started, including tutorials, cheat sheets, and online courses. My favorite is the Markdown Guide.

  2. Practice: Once you've learned the basics of Markdown, it's important to practice using it. Start by creating a few simple blog posts on the Hive blockchain and experimenting with different formatting elements. It's like learning to ride a bike, you have to practice to get the hang of it.

  3. Use a Markdown editor: To make the process of creating content on the Hive blockchain even easier, you can use a Markdown editor. These editors allow you to write and format your content in Markdown and then convert it to HTML for publishing on the Hive blockchain. It's like having a personal assistant, but instead of fetching coffee, it will format your text for you. You could use something like a standard text edit program or note pad, or you can an online tool like Dillinger.io.

  4. Join a community: Finally, consider joining a community of other bloggers and writers who use Markdown language on the Hive blockchain. This can be a great way to learn more about it, get feedback on your content, and connect with other like-minded individuals just trying to hustle. It's like joining a secret club, but instead of a secret handshake, you'll be using a not so secret language on a very transparent blockchain, haha.

To wrap this up, using Markdown language when blogging on the Hive blockchain can save you a lot of time and effort and make your content more visually appealing and easy to read. It's a great way to create high-quality content that will stand out from the crowd.

So, take the time to learn the basics of Markdown language and start experimenting with it on your next blog post on the Hive blockchain. Not only will you be able to create content more efficiently, but you'll also be able to produce content that is both easy to read and visually appealing.

With the ease of use and compatibility with multiple platforms, Markdown language is a valuable tool for any blogger on the Hive blockchain. So, don't wait any longer, give it a try and see the difference it can make in your blogging experience, and who knows, you might even enjoy formatting your posts like I did writing this one!

I've never really understood the point of markdown. It has never seemed more intuitive or easier to me than HTML. Just more limiting. Would I would really like to see (and maybe this is already out there) is a guide that shows exactly what HTML you can use on hive (even if it is specific to hive.blog or ecency or peakd or whatever) instead of having to figure it out by trial and error. Just as an example, tables work ok in general but the use of "colspan" tag does not seem to work.

It's very useful for those who have zero code knowledge.

As far as HTML, I don't even know the full limits on that. I know any script tags, forms, and the video tag doesn't work. I have seen iframes work for 3speak embedding but haven't seen anything else used. I know the audio tag works because we are messing with it at @blocktunes for music posts and working on using IPFS.

But yeah, that would be a good guide for sure. Might have to get in the dev discord and ask them about it.

I guess my point is that even if you have zero code knowledge, html (especially a limited subset that gives you the capabilities of markdown) is as easy to learn as markdown. It's just tags, not really code unless you start getting into stuff like javascript but that's not really part of html anyway.
