The Hack With Withdraw Routes on Hive

(Edited)

Hello Everyone!! I hope you are having a good day.

Have you heard of the Withdraw Routes on Hive?

Withdraw routes is a feature that enables you to withdraw/power down your Hive Power in percentage to an account or accounts you want.

For example:

Let's say I add UserX to withdraw routes at 30%. That means, whenever I try to power down my Hive Power, 30% goes to UserX and 70% to me.

The thing is, even if you cancel your power down, withdraw route still remains active and it will occur whenever you start powering down, unless you don't remove it.

So, you might be attacked by hackers using your Withdraw Routes stealing your Hive.

How to Check if I have Withdraw Routes

Go to https://hiveblocks.com/@YourUsername.

Scroll down and look for Withdraw Routes. If you have 0 withdraw routes, that means you are safe.

But if you have 1 or more withdraw routes you haven't added, that means you might be in trouble.

How to Remove Withdraw Routes?

Don't worry, it's simple.

You can remove users from withdraw routes through Ecency desktop version (don't know if it could also be done through other Hive frontends etc as I only know about Ecency right now).

  1. Go to ecency.com.
  2. Go to your wallet.
  3. Click on Hive Power (HP).
  4. You will see Withdraw Routes below.

From there, you can remove accounts you don't want or haven't added.

You can also add accounts to withdraw accounts setting the percentage.

I double checked but I don't see any on my account but I was also considering making an account and setting my account to that. It's something for me to think about in the future and it will be another safeguard.

I did saw it on the ecency frontend but didn't know what it meant exactly. Thanks for the clarification :)

I think it's a good feature if you have multiple accounts and what to diversify your Hive holdings.

How to Check if I have Withdraw Routes

Go to https://hiveblocks.com/@username.

(URL diabled for quoted text)

You may want to re-write that link. According to Hiveblocks, that's a real account.

Otherwise, the rest of the post is good. I may even set up 1 WR for myself.
