The Frappé Took Her Into An Adventure

avatar
(Edited)

She had been out and about driving for the past hours scouting for a location for her planned business when her stomach growled angrily reminding her that she has not had lunch yet and it was already late afternoon.

"Aah, right... It's time to feed ya," she mumbled as she placed her left palm atop her belly giving it a gentle rub while the other steered the wheel. She drove past the intersection and was on the lookout for a place to eat when a logo of a chef not so far ahead caught the corner of her eye.

She slowed down as she approached the place, praying at the back of her head she'd find a parking space and bingo! There was one right in front.

"Thank you," was all she can say as she carefully inched into the spot. She got out of her car after freshening up, her eyes wandered discreetly checking the place out. She often does that, she had to check first if it was to her liking before she gets in. "The place looks neat and shiny, it must be okay..." she was trying to convince herself as she walked towards the door.

"Told ya," she murmured inside her head as she was ushered by an attendant to one of the tables. There were not many people around so it was nice. She will just have a quick bite and will continue to visit the 5 remaining locations on her list.

She ordered two frappes from the menu (thinking she'd have the other for takeaway) and one of the sizzlers. The waiter with the widest smile on his face told her those are the quickest things to have when she told him she had not much time.

"Would that be all ma'am?" he asked. "Yes please, thank you," she answered and leaned back anxiously into her seat. Her two frappes came quickly when she was about to take her phone out to make a call.

"Nice!" she exclaimed deep inside her head as she sipped into the chocolate flavored one. "That is the most refreshing thing I've had today," she thought, closing her eyes for a moment, savoring the sweetness and coolness of the drink. She found herself relaxing, no longer feeling tensed.

Then she let her eyes wander around the interesting environment she now found herself in. There was a beautiful painting of a church on the whole wall across to where she was seated.

She took another sip of her frappe and looked at the wall right beside her. Realizing there were more, she got up from her chair, mesmerized of all those she see. "Wow... wow..." was all she could mumble.

The walls are covered with different interesting artworks and nice words. How could she not notice such a wonder when she came in earlier?

She walked back to her table, took the frappe, sipping slowly as she inched a lot closer to the wall...

There, she met a young girl carrying a big basket on her back. And from their short conversation, the girl told her she was going to her grandmother's farm. She needed to bring that basket for them to put some sweet potato harvests. She bade her goodbye not wanting to hold her any longer. "Her grandmom must be waiting..." she thought.

Walking a bit farther, she met these two funky gentlemen with hairstyles interesting yet completely unknown to her. And oh, did the other one just winked at her?

She got scared a little so she walked a lot faster to the left and found these three young gentlemen looking right at her as if she was from another planet. She couldn't find her tongue... her mouth felt dry... she was speechless.

"Excuse me ma'am, your food is here," the waiter's voice took her back from that different world.

Little did she know that the cold Frappé she had on her hand would transport her to a beautiful place she had never been before...

With a smile on her face, she enjoyed her meal like she had all the time in the world, not an ounce of worry or anxiousness, her heart filled with gratitude that once upon a while, she took a trip somewhere out of town
and met her ancestors down the road.

Thank you and this is my little story for the SpillTheBeans prompt , Week #10.

Photos my own. 060922/10:15ph

It's just a slang created for fun but means the same thing as Salamat or more like "thank you very much" hehe

It feels strange not being on the water, but the good thing is that I am surrounded by a lot of nature. Hopefully we'll be back on a bigger boat in Spring 🤞

Excellent to hear, I have been keeping my eyes open at boat prices. Be good to see you back on the water.

Apollo Duck is my favourite site to check. eBay UK is good, but sometimes you never know if they are scams.
