Genesis League Goals

A soccer card game utilizing 7 vs 7 players. In Genesis League Goals, players will engage in the game by collecting their favorite MLSPA player cards, building their teams, and competing in turn-based, head-to-head matches for the winning score.1

I consider myself to have a mid to low level of investment. Initially I bought 100 packs and received a bonus 10 packs. I have since bought another 26 packs to bring my total up to 136 packs. This week packs have become available to be opened.

Cards needed for a team.

To form a team and play the game, users will need a minimum of 8 cards (1 coach and 7 player cards). The breakup of player cards will be as follows:

1 Coach (CO)
1 Goalkeeper (GK)
2 Defeders (DF)
2 Midfielders (MF)
2 Forwards (FW)
Additionally, user will be able to choose 5 players (in addition to above list) as substitutes and up to 10 reserve players per team.2

This means that a team roster would have 23 cards.

Choosing cards to make up team

I haven't played or watched much Soccer so I am choosing the best skills for each position and then trying to stay in the top third with that stat.

Coach (CO)

Currently Coaches do not have any stats. So any coach will do at this point. Gold foil should give some benefit later.

Goalkeeper (GK)

Goalkeepers have 2 stats Passing(PA) and Blocking(BL).
I believe that Blocking is most important so I will be looking for a Goalkeeper with an 8,9,or 10 BL stat.

Defenders (DF)

Defensive stats are
IN - Interception
BL - Block
TA - Tackle
I am going to look for a combination of 24 point or better between these three stats.
24 of the 155 Defenders meet this criteria.

Midfielders (MF)

Midfielders use a combination of many stats.
I will look at all but Block and shoot.
PA - Pass
DR- Dribble
IN - Interception
TA - Tackle
I am looking for a total of 32 points between these stats.
There appears to be around 16 of the 107 Midfielders that meet this criteria.

Forwards (FW)

PA - Pass
SH - Shot
DR- Dribble
I am looking for a total of 24 points between these stats.
14 of the 84 players meet this criteria.

My targets

With 136 packs I will have 680 cards to work with. This helps me to set a target for the level of cards that I will target to build.

A level 10 deck would take me 230 cards to achieve a minimum team.
Gold cards occur at 5% in a deck. If you use a Scoutpass you normally get 10%(double) the number of gold cards. For the next two weeks you can get up to 15% gold cards in your deck.3

680 * 15% = 102 gold cards. This would mean that I could target a level 4 gold deck. I am planning on a level 2 or level 3 gold deck of 23 players.

Ressons

I believe that the game will play with RNG and thus any of my players have a 30% chance of beating the best player that can be played against them.

Leveling up my players should increase any of their stats by ~2 points each. I expect one or two stats to be increase with each card combination. 10 levels * 2 = 20 / 6 = 3.33 points to each stat on a max level(10) card.

Feel free to leave comment as to why my assumptions are incorrect and what you would suggest to focus on.
