Community engagement is witnessing decline

(Edited)

Wednesdays are reserved for the community analysis. I love to check the performance of community and I keep posting these reports regularly. Most of the times the graphs look beautiful as the community performance show progress. However, the last week was not promising in terms of engagement, though the POB prices managed to surpass the #leofinance prices once again.

Above graph indicates that out of the four parameters evaluated on weekly basis, two are showing a significant decline in the performance.

Highlights of the week

  • 1437 (Last week 1359) subscribers to the community - Growth of 5.7%.
  • 688 (Last week 739) active users are actively posting on POB - This parameter indicates that there is a decline of 7% in the active users.
  • There are about 4538 (Last week 4363) investors who are/were holding POB tokens. A small growth of 4%.

Engagement is the key

#pob platform was always known for the engagement it generated for the #hive platform. However, last week witnessed a decrease of 25% from the last week, when the weekly engagement was touching close to 8000 activities in a week, which reduced to 5700+ activities for the week under analysis.

#POBtalk Strengthens its position

Overall lackluster performance of the community was also seen in the #pobtalk initiative. However, the engagement on this platform was better than overall engagement and helped #pobtalk to strengthen its position further. For the week ended 28th July, #pobtalk engagements are more than 15% of the total interactions on the platform. Till last week the contribution of #pobtalk was 13%.

Overall, though the week was good for #pobtalk, platform witnessed 25% reduction in the engagement over the last week.

That is really not good to hear. But in my opinion, this is the cycle. Sometimes the performance goes up and some times it goes down. Even the star engagers need rest and probably they were on the holiday during the last week, which in turn resulted into the decline in the comments.

I can't fathom the reason for the low out turn, it could be that it was because prices too a lot of beating before we saw the prices rallying round again. Overall i've noticed more quality Contents.

Its quite possible that when the activity turns out lackluster then those who are here for just quick bucks walk away and what remains is quality content and you are witnessing the same.

Calumam's word of the week didn't come up for the week, I guess another there will be another dip. Truth is, everyone should eventually play their part.

Is it only comments made via the proof of brain frontend that are counted? Rather than ones made elsewhere but having the pob tag?

I must admit I've been commenting from the Leo front end more than usual since the proof of brain UI is very slow to use both for commenting and upvoting.

There are good days and there are bad days but what's makes if better is if you come out of your bad day stronger. This is a challenge to all of us at POB that more work needs to be done. We need to be making more contents and engaging more..

Thank you for the update

Engagement does matter and offers an important metric for measuring the health of a community... specifically the level of enthusiasm community members have for what they are participating in.

I suppose I will kick in the possibility that POB is a fairly new community, and we may just be reaching the stage in the natural development cycle in which "the novelty factor has worn off." I'm hesitant to bring token price into the picture, except to point out Hive overall generally sees a slowing down in activity level when the token price dives... and POB has gone from better than $1.00 to 25c-ish... and that will have an impact.

Good reason to become extra active, though... and build your stake while prices are low!

=^..^=

Yes this looks quite obvious to me too. When the prices go down just like any other professional, the contributors also think about the return on investment they can achieve from the time they spend on the platform. If the prices are low the justification of time becomes difficult and naturally the engagement goes down.

I've noticed a few regulars have been absent the past week and I think it is probably more to do with people being away on summer holidays. In the UK, this last week was the first week of the school summer holidays, so it is probably to be expected that engagement and posts may reduce throughout key holiday periods. Everyone needs time out with their families and probably out enjoying the sunshine more with their children than being cooped up inside writing and curating. I know my engagement may dip a bit a few times in July/August due to planned weekends away and not having either the time or mindset to facilities available to login each day. I personally don't sit there watching the price of Hive and POB tokens and my activity here is not related to it at all.

I am happy you have raised some really good points. The regular contributors would have gone on holidays in the past week. They also need to spend the time with children rather than getting engrossed in writing and I am hoping this will improve in the next weeks.

If engagement is the real deal, i think we all would benefit, but for me i see a better growth if every individual is motivated either which way for the new generation. We rise by lifting others and i see a better future here. Time is all we need and most people are not always available, but sincerely it has been a blessing been here.

Hopefully it will be temporary. In my case, I have been absent the last few weeks due to intense work activity due to semester closing/starting, plus fatal connectivity. But I am still interested in this community.

Sure this is another reason that there was an internet connectivity issues in the some parts of the world. This has affected the community engagement too.

Is this only PoB front end engagement as it is hard to use this front end with limited capacity on mobile versions.

PoB prices are climbing.

Hail #pobtalk!

But I am amazed while there are so many engagement programs running and people actively participating, engagement is still going down. This is kind of disappointing.

I really admire your efforts. I am pretty much convinced that you can write on almost any subject. I really enjoy reading your comments about India. I always liked travelling to India and the beautiful places like Pune and Patna. You are the reason to make the #dailypob so much strong.

Discussion to easy topics is my favourite that is why I like to comments in #pobdaily . An easy fun and amazing daily photos and stories. I hope the little contribution in the engagement will help POB more popular .

Thanks for the interpretation

Yeah... Um... I was going to say the lack of engagement was my fault. I haven't been able to check my computer for a week... but then again WOTW is a lot of the interactions here and I haven't seen much on WOTW.
