VYB Impacts the Richlist Significantly

avatar
(Edited)

This week's richlist is highly influenced by the newly announced #verifyyourbrain or #vyb community. This week many accounts were thrown out of the richlist such as @trostparadox, @scholaris and @caluman. They are the key supporters of this project and have converted their pob to vyb.

But the biggest surprise was the account of @onealfa.pob, which has started powering down.

image.png

Highlights of Last Week

  • Ranks for 9 accounts, were unchanged during the week. Whereas last week there were 14 stable accounts.
  • 34 Accounts gained the positions from the previous week. Last week 27 accounts gained the positions. This indicates some whales have left the rich list, which pushed the ranks of existing accounts.
  • 4 Accounts lost their positions in last 7 days whereas in the last week there were only 6.
  • 4 new accounts were added to rich-list.

There were 3652 accounts with negligible or zero balance. This number is substantially higher than the previous weeks 3290. This also indicates that there are many accounts which are selling #pob at the miserably lower price levels.

How much POB Power you need ?

In order to be featured in this publication, you need atleast 4644 POB power staked. This amount keeps changing every week, last week it was 4712. This indicates that the #pob power required to be in the top 50 is getting reduced with the time.

Impact of VYB on POB Rich list

There are two new accounts related to the #vyb and these accounts are @x-1pob-2vyb and @x-1pob-4vyb. These two accounts were created for the purpose of exchanging the pob for vyb. The first account means the exchange rate is 2vyb for 1 pob and second account means the exchange rate is 4vyb for 1 pob. Though the 4vyb for 1 was expected to be valid for 150,000 coins, it seems to have collected 92000 POB. Not sure what does it mean.
As we progress towards 15th December, there would be many other questions which would be answered by the team behind #vyb which includes

  1. What is the exact #vyb every account will receive in airdrop ? How is the staked balance calculated and how would the eligible posts with self votes and non-self votes would get calculated ?
  2. What would happen to the prices of #pob ? Will it be zeroed down as most of the whales are exiting ?
  3. What would happen to the prices of #vyb is another mystery.

Anyways there would be many other questions that many of the #pob holders would be facing and in coming days they would be answered.
My all best wishes for the new community.

POB still holds value because there are vyb hanging around to purchase.

Do I use hive to buy or how would I buy

At present I think it is better value for money to do the exchange route than to buy, but this can change at any time so just take a look at current prices. To buy, I assume you would deposit hive into hive engine to get swap.hive and then buy vyb on hive-engine but this may prove more costly as liquidity is low. To exchange POB for Vyb, go to this post and near the bottom you will see the exchange rate accounts. simply send a minimum of 250 POB to an exchange account to exchange at that rate. Two days ago they were down to using @x-2pb-1vyb. If you only want to exchange at this rate then simply send your tokens here. If there is no vyb left in this account, your POB gets returned to you. If you want to exchange at market rate then type market in the memo field and they will exchange at the best remaining rate available. Make sure you check all the different rates that may be used if you choose market as some are pretty expensive.... but then that may be a decent swap value at some point, who knows.

Nice seeing new names on the rich list. Will be nice to see how the new project vyb impact things over at POB in the coming weeks and months

What the hell is #vyb and where is the account of @onealfa.pob in the list? -He should probably be still in top 3 even powering down, right?

I know, even I love to see his account chasing the top position. But when some one powers down complete balance automatically the balance goes in negative and the account is not ranked.

More than seeing him in rich-list, I am really concerned about his powering down. Because if he leaves the platform, definately there would be a negative impact on the overall price of the tokens and we all would lose a lot in the process.

I'm not sure powering-down should be counted as zero on the richlist, because the tokens still count towards upvotes until each fraction of the power-down is completed (and only that fraction is removed from upvote power), and the power-down can be canceled at any time.

And, even after the full stake is powered down, until the tokens are transferred to another account, they should still be counted in the richlist, imho.

Agreed - richlist should mirror current owned stake no matter if on powerdoen or not

Sending POB to the @x-1pob-4vyb account with the word 'market' in the memo means "I want to exchange these POB tokens for VYB tokens at this exchange rate or the next best available exchange rate(s)." A lot of folks have been using that approach.

I understand that a lot of folks have been exchanging it. But when the token pool was 150000 coins, I presume it was for 150000 POB. Then why there is a balance of only 92000 ? Are the coins still available to be exchanged at the rate of 1 pob for 4 VYB

150000 coins

These are VYB Token friend not POB. For POB, ÷4 i.e 150000÷4 = 37500 POB. You can calculate the same for others as well. I thought as same earlier, lol and totally missed the 4x and 3x opportunity which are already exhausted, 2x is available right now and is going to be completed soon, hurry up now. 😊👍 !PIZZA

@vikbuddy is on top of it (see previous comment).

The first 150,000 VYB were exchanged for 37,500 POB (at the 4:1 exchange rate).

Most of the 92,000 POB you are seeing were used to claim VYB at the 3:1 or 2:1 exchange rates (using 'market' in the memo).

However, 50k POB have just been staked to @vyb.pob.aat. Those will subsequently be delegated to the VYB anti-abuse team (to compensate them for their efforts).

I was about to make another post related to this. But many thanks for the same. I was thinking about the ratio of 1:4. If there are 92000 POB's then there is 368000 VYB's that must have gone out from this account. But your comment answers couple of the questions.
So just for my understanding, it is probably the collection of all the #pob in the single account @x-1pob-4vyb rather than different accounts @x-1pob-3vyb or @x-1pob-2vyb. Is that so ?

What is the exact #vyb every account will receive in airdrop ?

This info will be posted within the next week or so.

A sneak peek into that can be found here.

What would happen to the prices of #pob ? Will it be zeroed down as most of the whales are exiting ?

Anyone who is exchanging POB for VYB are ensuring that those POB tokens will be 'off the market' for at least one year (with the exception that up to 50% of the POB may be used to fund one or more liquidity pools). This was all explained in the VYB white paper.

It's hard to see how that would cause the price of POB to drop.

However, if folks exiting POB end up selling it for HIVE instead of exchanging it for VYB, then you might see the price of POB drop. However, there are currently 20,000 VYB that can be obtained via 1 POB for 2 VYB and 300,000 VYB that can be obtained via 1 POB for 1 VYB.

This means that an arbitrage opportunity exists for folks to buy POB and exchange for VYB. This should create a floor for POB that would be no lower than the market price for VYB (which is currently 0.298 HIVE -- albeit with almost zero liquidity, so that price doesn't mean much).

As such, it seems highly doubtful the price of POB will be negatively impacted by the launch of VYB, and plenty of reason to believe the price of POB will rise if VYB grows in popularity.

This, coupled with the fact that the launch of VYB is meant to complement POB (VYB can be thought of as a sort of 'retirement' token that can be earned alongside POB, but is intentionally less liquid).

It goes without saying that this is by no means financial advice.

What would happen to the prices of #vyb is another mystery.

True that.

They are the key supporters of this project and have converted their pob to vyb.

I can't speak for the others. However, I haven't converted all my POB to VYB. I'll convert a portion of it, but not all of it.

Who's controlling the accounts? I just sent 25 POB...hopefully I did it right.

Also, make sure you use the work "market" in the comment. If not, please let us know.

oh...I didn't. I think I wrote, "I hope 2:1 or 3:1 is still available", but I don't think I used the word "market" anywhere in there.

The the initial VYB white paper stated that, until the POB-for-VYB exchange is automated, there will be a minimum transaction requirement of 250 POB. That was meant to keep the # of manual transactions from getting out of hand. I am going to go ahead and lower that to 100 POB (and will update the white paper accordingly).

Your 25 POB have been returned to you because [1] you sent it to a depleted exchange account and did not include the word 'market' in the memo and [2] because it did not satisfy the 250 POB minimum-transaction-amount requirement.

The 1:4, 1:3, and 1:2 exchange accounts have already been fully depleted. That means the current exchange rate is 1:1, and there are about 290,000 VYB currently available at that rate. To claim VYB at the 1:1 rate, you should send at least 100 POB to @x-1pob-1vyb. (NOTE: I suggest that you copy/paste the account name when sending the POB, then double-check to make sure the proper account name has been entered. This is because, although Hive-Engine tokens sent to a non-existent account used to be recoverable (indirectly), they are now being claimed by a malicious bot. We plan to implement safeguards for this into the Verify Your Brain front-end. But, for now, sender beware ...).

Thanks, pal! I didn't read the white paper, or if I did...I forgot about the limit. 😋I should get some from the airdrop, as I have 2500 staked...I appreciate the return!

I just read your Toruk post from a year ago. Just want to say I'm thankful each time you vote for me, and it has been on a couple of occasions. I'm one of those guys who likes to see who voted on my posts/comments. I don't think I've ever seen you comment on one of my posts, or maybe I'm forgetting, but your point about others not upvoting your comment when you comment on them and upvote them, I do see how that can be disconcerting...after all, you're a freak'n person, too, regardless of your whale status. I didn't quite understand what the image of the Toruk was for, but I think I have a slightly better understanding now. No need to upvote this comment, but I wanted to at least say, "Thanks" and that I think I understand where you were coming from in your post linked above. Now, having said that, do you post the image of "Toruk" was here just to say "I read this post" or to say "I upvoted this post with some extra weight"? I ask, because before I read your linked post, I thought it was a statement by you that you didn't like what was going on...now I believe it is the opposite-your way of saying "You won the 'lottery' with my vote"...is that right?
