My First Experience Working In Breeding Farm Broiler
We have a viral news a few days ago in Indonesia. “a local farmer in Blitar Town, East Java, protest in the street when the President of the Republic of Indonesia, across the highway when coming home from the tomb of Indonesia's first president. The farm that holds the inscription “Mr. Jokowi, help farmers to buy corn with reasonable price”. A criticism or suggestions due to the high price of corn is used as feed for broiler chickens and layer.
The farmer was then secured by police because it is considered to do things that disrupt public order, and the next day it was released. The Problem of the price of corn is indeed a problem in Indonesia a few years, the price of corn at the farm level corn is very high so that the farmers can feel the result of a good harvest. But the chicken farmer affected buy corn to feed the cattle with a price deemed too expensive so need a rule to give justice to this industry whether it's agriculture or animal husbandry.
Events of the last week, I was reminded of the memory while working in the field of the farm a few years ago. I am a graduate of the faculty of animal husbandry in the field of study of broiler chickens. Before my graduation, I already get a job because of the relationships and friendships. I work as a Supervisor Breeding Farm Unit Broiler in one of the big companies in the field of animal husbandry industry.
What does the job Supervisor Breeding Farm do? Breeding Farm is a business field farm that produces chicken nurseries or DOC (day-old chicken). DOC is then raised by Broiler Farm or Layer Farm depending on the type of seed.
This is the location of the work I used to. Its area of 12 hectares and can not be haphazard people go in there. Because we have to shower twice and through a process of strict sanitary. Why do like that?
It is because the price of seeds DOC for chicken breeding it's very expensive and sensitive to animal diseases that must be kept condition.
I have a team that consists of 18 members, which is 12 people be working in five of the closed house farm and the 6-man team of the vaccine. Before the existence of this farm, my members many who have no job and were very grateful for the presence of this farm in their village.
There are a few things in my routine every day on the farm, such as checking the chicken dead, make a note of hygiene, make a schedule of vaccination and the administration of the drug, ensure water for drinking broiler. When the phase of the chicken will lay eggs, our work also increased by summarizing the results of total eggs and make a percentage. Sometimes if a death occurs not reasonable or the number of deaths is very high we perform the surgery and check the cause of his death.
These are some examples of surgeries that we do, sorry if the photo is inappropriate.
I get a big salary while working there, given the high workload. But the routines are repeated and the condition of the farm are not free to come and go from the farm environment except during my holidays make me give up in the fourth year of work and I decided to stop working.
I finally started to live free to start a business as I did this time.
