Hola amigos amantes de la música, desde hace un par de meses he estado compartiendo con ustedes covers de guitarra la banda Korn, en mis publicaciones les he hablado sobre que mi motivación para hacerlo es que estoy en un proyecto de banda Tributo a Korn, y era una oportunidad para compartir con ustedes mi proceso de aprendizaje de cada canción.

Bien, hoy después de casi 3 meses, he tenido la oportunidad de hacer mi primera presentación junto a la banda, en un evento llamado “Rock On” organizado en mi ciudad San Cristóbal, Venezuela, y quiero compartir mi experiencia con ustedes.

Hello friends music lovers, since a couple of months ago I have been sharing with you guitar covers of the band Korn, in my posts I have told you that my motivation to do so is that I am in a Korn Tribute band project, and it was an opportunity to share with you my learning process of each song.

Well, today after almost 3 months, I had the opportunity to make my first performance with the band, in an event called "Rock On" organized in my city San Cristobal, Venezuela, and I want to share my experience with you.

Inicialmente no estaba previsto que tocáramos en este evento, pero cuando una de las bandas programadas decidió no tocar, vimos la oportunidad para proponer ser parte del evento y por supuesto fuimos bienvenidos, de manera que nos apresuramos para ensayar y terminar de armar nuestro repertorio.

Las bandas a presentarse en este evento fueron Fuckin Crowns (Hardcore Rap metal) VPH (Punk Rock), Bajo Zero (Death Metal), Children of the Korn (Tributo a Korn).

Initially we were not scheduled to play at this event, but when one of the scheduled bands decided not to play, we saw the opportunity to propose to be part of the event and of course we were welcomed, so we rushed to rehearse and finish putting together our repertoire.

The bands to perform at this event were Fuckin Crowns (Hardcore Rap metal) VPH (Punk Rock), Bajo Zero (Death Metal), Children of the Korn (Tribute to Korn).

El evento inició aproximadamente a las 10:30 de la noche, estaba programado para iniciar más temprano pero por una serie de contratiempos no pudo ser, de manera que aproveché para conversar con mis amigos y reencontrarme con viejos amigos, puesto que la escena metal había estado muy apagada en el país tanto por la crisis económica como por el Covid-19, de manera que faltaba un punto de encuentro para todos aquellos que amamos el metal, finalmente pudimos volver a converger en un evento en el que pudiésemos reunirnos y disfrutar de buena música.

The event started at approximately 10:30 pm, it was scheduled to start earlier but due to a series of setbacks it could not be, so I took the opportunity to talk with my friends and reconnect with old friends, since the metal scene had been very dull in the country both because of the economic crisis and the Covid-19, so there was a lack of a meeting point for all those who love metal, finally we could finally converge again in an event where we could meet and enjoy good music.

El evento inició con la banda Fuckin Corwns, una banda con un sonido extremo y muy pesado, una cualidad que le otorga la guitarra 7 cuerdas y el estilo característico de su guitarrista con gran habilidad para riffear, por otro lado, una voz distintiva que con tintes de rap, se acopla de manera perfecta al instrumental. Es difícil comparar esta banda con otra, pues tiene un sonido muy característico.

Seguidamente tocó VPH, una banda de Punk a lo vieja escuela, que sin duda puso a mover al público, una banda con una clara influencia de bandas como La Polla Records. Fue destacable además la claridad del sonido de los instrumentos, perfectamente acoplados, es una banda que se ha mantenido activa en los peores momentos de la crisis venezolana, lo cual tiene mucho valor y habla muy bien de sus integrantes.

The event started with the band Fuckin Corwns, a band with an extreme and very heavy sound, a quality that gives the 7-string guitar and the characteristic style of its guitarist with great ability to riff, on the other hand, a distinctive voice that with rap tints, fits perfectly to the instrumental. It is difficult to compare this band with any other, as they have a very distinctive sound.

Next up was VPH, an old school Punk band that undoubtedly got the audience moving, a band with a clear influence of bands like La Polla Records. It was also remarkable the clarity of the sound of the instruments, perfectly coupled, it is a band that has remained active in the worst moments of the Venezuelan crisis, which is very valuable and speaks very well of its members.

Posteriormente se presentó Bajo Zero, una banda de Death Metal de Barquisimeto formada en 1995 con gran trayectoria en el país, esta banda era la invitada especial de este evento. Y sorprendieron, como era de esperarse con increíbles riffs de parte de sus habilidosos guitarristas, unos guturales poderosos, y una batería extrema con rápidos blast beats. Presenciar esta banda un una gran experiencia, pues es parte importante de la historia del metal venezolano.

Y finalmente para cerrar el evento, nos presentamos Children of The Korn, con un repertorio de 9 temas, que el publicóo disfrutó notablemente, el setlist fue el siguiente:

Afterwards, Bajo Zero, a Death Metal band from Barquisimeto formed in 1995 with a great trajectory in the country, was the special guest of this event. And they surprised, as expected with incredible riffs from their skilled guitarists, powerful gutturals, and extreme drums with fast blast beats. Witnessing this band was a great experience, as they are an important part of the history of Venezuelan metal.

And finally to close the event, we presented Children of The Korn, with a repertoire of 9 songs, which the audience enjoyed remarkably, the setlist was as follows:

Me sentí sumamente enérgico, y seguro durante esta presentación, me encantó poder moverme como uno de los guitarristas de Korn y sentirme como si fuese un miembro de la banda. Normalmente cuando me presentaba con mis bandas anteriores, siempre estaba muy concentrado en la ejecución de la guitarra, al tratarse de Death metal técnico, por lo que se me dificulta moverme con facilidad. Por tanto tocar en Tributo a Korn , es una experiencia que he disfrutado de una manera especial.

Tuvimos muy buen feedback, el publico estaba emocionado, las personas disfrutaron a cada uno de los temas cantando y moviéndose con la música, para mi tiene mucho valor poder mover a la gente y ofrecerles un show que puedan disfrutar plenamente.

I felt extremely energetic, and confident during this performance, I loved being able to move like one of Korn's guitarists and feel like I was a member of the band. Normally when I performed with my previous bands, I was always very focused on the guitar playing, being technical death metal, so it's hard for me to move easily. So playing in Tribute to Korn is an experience that I have enjoyed in a special way.

We had very good feedback, the audience was excited, people enjoyed each of the songs singing and moving with the music, for me it has a lot of value to move people and offer them a show that they can fully enjoy.

Pronto estaremos tocando en otros locales, esperando que la asistencia sea cada vez mejor, es importante volver a activar la escena del metal en la ciudad y para ello es necesario que existan nuevas bandas dispuestas a ofrecer buena música.

Soon we will be playing in other venues, hoping that the attendance will be better and better, it is important to reactivate the metal scene in the city and for this it is necessary that there are new bands willing to offer good music.
