How to Ensure Growth In Your Business.

Before you can start working towards having success in any business, practice, or career, you have to do your homework first.

First and foremost, I believe (and I have said this many times already), but build your dream...not someone else's dream.

But, with that out of the way, it is also important to establish whether your dream is viable or not.

I have learned that this needs to be looked at from two angles.

On the one hand, we often hear how we should determine what we are passionate about. Find and do something you love and won't work another day in your life, they say.

Wow, that's awesome. So you decide what you are passionate about and you start working. You give it your best shot.

You work hard...but no results. Nobody reads your articles. Nobody is buying your products.

That is because there is another group that says...it's nice if you can do something you are passionate about...but you should actually find out what people want and then you should give them what they want.

Well, that's great... I want to leave a job I hate to work for myself. But now I also do something I eventually start hating...I'm just doing it for myself and not for a boss...

Finding a Balance.

Well, what I have learned over the last couple of years, is that both of the principles mentioned above are right.

But you should find a balance between the two.

Try to find something that people want...such as a solution to solve a problem, and see if you can provide that solution through something that you are passionate about.

Or, looking at it from the other side...find something that you are passionate about and present it to people in a way that they would want it. Such as useful information, or solving a problem, or providing fun...

But find a way to present it to people in such a way that they would be willing to pay you for what you do or offer.

Now you can do what you love doing and your audience/customer base get what they want.

Find Your Strenght and Develop It.

The first step is obviously to decide on what it is you want to do.

You have done your research and you know that there is a demand for what you want to do. Whether you want to start a business, become a writer/blogger, or whatever you want to do.

You are passionate about what you want to do, and there are people who want what you have to offer.

But it doesn't matter what you do, there will always be a learning phase. We always have to start on the ground floor.

So we have to start off with the basic stuff. Offer a variety of services to a particular industry, or a range of basic products, or start creating general content on a particular topic.

But keep records of all your results. Then try to determine where or with what are you getting the best results. Then try to focus on developing in the areas where you are the strongest.

An example I can give from my own experience is the following.

I love creating content. I especially love to write about the way we think and how it can have an impact on our lives (that is my topic for tomorrow by the way...), but I also started experimenting with photography as I also love taking photos. And I discovered something that I didn't expect in my wildest dreams.

I am getting good results with photography posts. So I decided to take it further. I am now reading up as much as I can and I have enrolled in a course for photography to try and make the best of it.

I would like to build it up to the level where I can maintain a balance between written (text) posts and photography posts.

The fact is, if I didn't try it, I would not have known.

That doesn't mean you should get rid of the "slow movers", or in my case...stop creating written content.

No, as long as it works, keep it or keep doing it. But develop your strong points to ensure growth and to boost your growth.

It doesn't matter if you have been in business for a month, a year, or a decade...growth is always necessary. You will always need to stimulate growth...unless you want to fade away and just disappear from the radar...

Conclusion

We all have to start somewhere. And that "somewhere" is usually right at the bottom. And some of us might even have to repeat that process more than once...and that's okay.

It's like saying goes... "fall seven times, get up eight".

But start. And start with the basics.

Then track your results to see where you are getting your best results from.

Then focus on your strengths and develop them to become stronger and stimulate consistent growth.

I hope this was helpful.

Thank you for reading my post.

Do you know where your strengths are? Why don't you share it with us and tell us how you discovered your strengths?

"if you don't try, you won't know.... " that line from your post stood right out!

i mean, we even tell children this at the dinner table when they say "yuck, i don't like that." but they haven't even tried it hahahaha

there are SO many things that I didn't know - but the more I delved into it, the more I learned, the more i excelled, the more I taught others, the more i started to learn about OTHER things in the realm.... it's just foolish for people not to TRY! hehehe

i LOVE that you've discovered that you want to go further with your photography - and that you TRIED it. and ENJOYED it first!!!!

and yes yes yes. it's a balance of the two points you made in this post. it's not just about being passionate and making a job of it. hahaha it can START with that desire - but there MUST be a market for it. I'm SO GLAD that you pointed that out. because many people fail to give that KEY POINT to those who want to pursue their passions and find out WAY TOO LATE that no one cares about investing their time/money into their passion! and that's just a lot of time lost!!!

Great tips for the younger (and older!!) generations! :)

I like that example...lol! That is so true!!

Thanks for sharing this with us! This is so important and it is crucial to hear from someone like yourself...

Yes, I always loved taking photos. But I was just having fun. Until I saw the photos being published here on Hive...and I thought...why not just give it a try?

In all honesty, I never even thought I would get much of a response on my photos compared to what I've seen being published here.

And then... The response was way more than what I ever would have expected!!

So it just sparked something and I discovered another passion I didn't even really know I had. It's fun, it's exciting, it's challenging and I have lots to learn, but I am going to give it a go!

The balance...yes, I believe that is crucial! Thanks for highlighting that!

Thank you for giving your input in such an energetic way! I appreciate it so much!

Or, looking at it from the other side...find something that you are passionate about and present it to people in a way that they would want it. Such as useful information, or solving a problem, or providing fun.

This right here is the needed balance.

If I may add, I'm not sure there's anyone who doesn't love getting results. If the needed result is forthcoming, it will be a matter of time before we get to love the process.

Also things connect. I can connect whatever my passion is into proffering solution to people's problem.

I love reading from you. Thanks to @dreemport that keeps bringing you my way.

It's about finding the necessary connection.

We must begin somewhere. In whatever we are doing, growth is mostly what we are desiring. We all desire to excel in our endeavours.

My strength is in educating, training and coaching people. I discovered that when I got involved with an NGO as a teenager, I was vested with the responsibility of intimating our audience with the goals of our organization. I did an excellent work, that was why that role wasn't contested. I enjoyed it as well, I have diversify no doubt, but like I said, I always look for ways to create that connection.

That is absolutely true! Results are one of the best motivators you can get!

Yes, thank you to @dreemport indeed!

As you say, we all have to begin somewhere.

I'm glad to hear about the opportunity you got as a teenager and that you have made such a huge success of it! That's awesome!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for taking the time to give your valuable input!

The way up is down.. We can never go up without starting from the scratch.. No matter how much we fail when climbing, we must be determined to get to the top else we remain on the ground..

We must find our weak point and build on it. We must also find our strength and work with it... These are the only way we can achieve growth.

Thanks for sharing... @dreemport directed me to your post
