#My Hive Goals - A Week That did Not Go According To Plan.

14 - Balance.png

Okay, life happens. Sometimes it comes with unexpected circumstances and life throws you a curveball. You have to make the best of what you have, take the knocks, change a little here, tweak a little there, eliminate certain actions...just do whatever you need to do to get back on track, on move on.

But sometimes (when life happens), it doesn't have to be something negative. It can still be unexpected though, but it can be something pleasant. Yet, you still didn't plan for it, and it's just not that easy to stick to your "planned schedule".

That's more or less what happened here this week.

Everything was normal and I was just following my schedule as planned for the week. That was until Wednesday afternoon when my phone rang.

It was Elmarie's brother. He was in the Durban area for business and wanted to pay us a surprise visit.

My wife's family are all still living in Johannesburg, so we don't see them often. It's about 600 KM from us. So, at best, we'll see them about once a year. But with the pandemic, the lockdown, and all the traveling regulations, I think it might be more like 2 years now that we haven't seen any of them.

So, he was about 50 KM away from us and just wanted to know if we would be home...and obviously...yes, we were.

So, it was all excitement as he arrived and the surprise got even bigger. Their 17-year old daughter was also with him. It soon became clear that he already had some business meetings earlier on Wednesday and he would still be in the area on Thursday leaving for Johannesburg again on Friday morning (today). He mentioned that they would find accommodation at a guest house and didn't want to cause any inconvenience to us...

WHAT? How would we ever allow that? I think he was trying to be polite though? But I mean...it was a no-brainer. They would stay over with us.

So, the remainder of my schedule for Wednesday afternoon and evening was taboo...lol! On Thursday morning he went out and was back again by about 1 pm.

He insisted that I should just ignore him being there and carry on with my daily tasks and activities... Yes, as if that was going to happen? I mean, we haven't seen them in like 2 years...and secondly, I am just not the kind of person who would leave them to themselves while I carry on with my stuff as if they don't exist...

But it's in times such as this when I'm really glad I'm ahead of schedule on many of my goals. I did have some new commitments to which I have committed here on the blockchain which also involve other people. But all it took was just some communication and everything was still under control.

So yes, in certain areas I have to catch up after all planning suddenly went out the window...lol. But still, it was a pleasant surprise and their visit was much appreciated.

For now, let's see what's happening with #myhivegoals.

1000 Hive Power.

I am well ahead of schedule on this goal. Just over 8.5 HP was added to my balance from my earnings last week.

That takes my balance to 499.393 HP, which means I have hit the target for January 2022 and can start working towards the February target of 537.5 HP.

08 - HP Goal.JPG

But, although I'm not going to "take my foot off the pedal" so to speak, I might just ease up a little bit on this goal. I have an idea in which I might increase my "Effective Hive Power" to support my goals but also allow me to focus on some other goals, such as my CTP goal as discussed below.

1000 - 499.393 = 500.607 to go!

10000 CTP Staked

I was able to add just over 33 CTP tokens to my staked balance.

09 -CTP Goal.JPG

That took my staked balance to 5237.947 CTP tokens staked. I need just over 193 tokens staked to hit my target of 5431 CTP tokens staked by the end of November 2021.

I need to pay attention here.

10000 - 5237.947 = 4762.053 to go!

1000 POB Staked

I managed to add 30 tokens to my staked balance.

10 - POB Goal.JPG

That brings my staked balance to 488 POB tokens staked. That means I am about 10 tokens away from my target for January 2022.

My goal for 2022 is to have 1000 POB tokens staked.

1000 - 488 = 512 to go!

1000 Alive Staked.

My staked balance for Alive tokens went up to just over 370 Alive tokens staked.

11 - Alive Goal.JPG

I had some success again in the staking contest which was very welcome to assist in adding some tokens to my staked balance.

As can be seen in the graph above, I have achieved the targets for this year and can now start working towards my target for January 2022.

1000 - 370 = 630 to go!

Other Projects and Targets.

Two areas where I need to pay attention are commenting and curation.

13 - Post and Comment Graph.png

By being comfortably ahead of schedule on more than one of my goals, I think I can now move my focus to the other areas where attention is needed. In the end, I believe that all my goals will benefit from it. It is a matter of finding balance.

So, shifting my focus, finding better balance is what lies ahead for the next week or so.

And that's it for my goals this week.

Thank you for reading my post, I do appreciate it.

Fantastic to see your progress here Jaco, and that you are ahead on most fronts, I am sure you will need to adjust those targets quite a bit upwards, and thanks a lot for sharing about that amazing visit from your relatives, enjoy your day and stay awesome.

This is really good going @jacoalberts. It's great to see you analysing the data and looking to find a way forwards to more curation as that will lead to even more meaningful engagement and increased connection across Hive with so many more people, although you already engage very meaningfully in my experience. All the best with your goals, and I hope you had a fab time with the family!🙏
