The One Thing I Regret The Most

I regret only one thing....png

In general, there are some things I regret today and that I would like to do differently today if I could do it over again.

But especially here on the Hive blockchain...is there anything that you regret? Anything you would do differently if you could do it over again.

There is one simple thing that I personally regret.

It is not necessarily the "what" or the "how" for me.

For me, it is the "when".

I am happy with what I have done and how I've done it so far. But what I regret the most is that didn't start earlier.

It's not that I wish I could have been here on the blockchain earlier. But I've been here for too long before I really got serious about it.

I have read many posts here on the blockchain to realize that we have many people here who went through very challenging times. I just think of what I have heard and read about how the Hive blockchain came to life after the STEEM experience.

Now I'm not going to give an opinion on that, as I wasn't here and therefore I know nothing about it. All I know is what I have heard and read.

Then, besides the drama mentioned above, I've heard how people had to wait for long periods of time to get their Hive accounts/wallets opened and active.

If I think about the process I have experienced, although this was "higher grade" stuff for me because I had no clue how it worked...it was still a walk in the park compared to what it must have been in the beginning...lol.

So, my timing for arriving here on the blockchain was...let's call it "perfect".

What wasn't so perfect though, was my own mindset.

I just came out of a very bad experience where my family and I got ripped off badly in an offline situation.

I've also had my fair share of "not so nice" experiences before that.

So allow me to say that by the time I arrived here, I just didn't find it so easy to trust someone and believe everything I hear before I could see the facts for myself.

Now let's get this straight... The person who introduced me to this blockchain was upfront and to the point. There was no hype or false/empty promises in the way I got introduced to this platform.

My Arrival in the Online World

Now imagine this...already feeling skeptical and suspicious about everything (and even everybody), I started looking around to see if there is anything worthwhile to do online.

And what do I find? An abundance of pipedreams and scams that you can sense from a distance.

Until I found this one link. I can't remember the exact wording, but I can remember that the emphasis was on the fact that you shouldn't expect a fortune overnight and you actually had to put in some effort.

Now that caught my attention. I clicked on it to take a close look. It involved cryptocurrencies and the process of learning more about them. And while you learn, you could actually start earning in these cryptocurrencies by taking action and doing some work.

Okay...I am interested in learning more about cryptocurrencies. That is something I've been wanting to do for a long time already.

Well, it was also mentioned that by doing some work, you would start earning some income (however small) in some of these cryptocurrencies. Therefore, you could start with zero out-of-pocket expenses.

So, I thought to myself I have nothing to lose, but lots to gain by learning about a topic I know I'm already interested in.

And yes, you guessed it, it was a link from @jongolson and it was about the Start Earning Today program.

So, I arrived here just over a year ago. I heard about showing up every day. Create content, engage, and curate...every day, I heard.

Yes, that's all good when people already know who you are. But who am I? I didn't just want to start bombarding people with content and they didn't even know who I was?

I created new content about once a week. I engaged as well as I could. I started upvoting people's work if I found it interesting and I started building some relationships.

Oh...and then there was the Hive-Engine wallet...lol. I got totally overwhelmed with all those tokens and sometimes even seeing tokens coming into my wallet and I had no clue where they came from or why I received them...lol.

Yes, I learned a lot and I showed some nice growth... But nothing spectacular.

And then the penny dropped towards the end of July 2021.

I can keep on doing this just for the fun of it, or I can get serious and give it my best shot.

I decided to get serious and give it my best shot. Again, I had nothing to lose, yet I could gain by putting this to the test.

And here we are today.

Since I have made the decision (two months ago), my HP has doubled and the dollar value of my Hive account has increased by 322%.

My Biggest Regret

So what on earth do I regret?

The timing for arriving here on the blockchain was perfect. The opportunity was right here, under my nose.

But, I regret that it took me so long to get serious about this.

So would I like to go back and start over?

Only if we can turn back the time too...lol.

No. Now I have learned something. There is no time for regrets and thinking about where I could have been.

But yes, it would have been nice if I could have started this process seriously much sooner.

But that is my only regret. Lesson learned. Now it's time to move on and build.

What is Your Journey Like?

How about you? Is everything plain sailing for you?

Or do you have any regrets you would like to share with us?

Anything positive you have learned, breakthroughs you had, or when the penny dropped for you...I'd like to hear about it.

Thank you for reading my post.

I think that your experience shows something very important and I had to discover it as well. I was long stuck in the crypto faucet world and I used hive/steem mainly to promote these websites. This didn't go so well until the day I decided to go full in on hive. Now Hive is almost my second job and I don't regret putting a lot of energy in it. Once you take this step, the results come as well. Be it in money and also in relations that we build!

Thank you for this insightful comment, Achim.

This really gives me more perspective when I hear about your experience as well. Thank you for sharing that information. I really do appreciate it!

It excites me to hear that Hive is almost like your second job now.

And as you say, by taking this step, I believe the results will come.

When I start to regret something in the past, I remind myself of the phrase: "Don't think about the past, you'll never be there again.
I think everything has its time, and now is the best time to make the best of it.
Your results are growing both qualitatively and quantitatively, and what's ahead is disproportionately better than what was. And that's what matters, and it brings joy)

I guess my only "regret" was not having known blockchain technology before (something that only happened to me approximately four years ago).

I am glad to see your "regret" is in inverted commas...

I take it you are comfortable with blockchain technology now and well on your way...?

I regret not joining the block chain all this time as well but the good news is that we are here now, and there is still so much more we can achieve, going forward.

Is nice sharing this your experience, am sure a lot of us can relate with it.

Yes, it would have been nice to have had an earlier start.

But I like what you are saying...

but the good news is that we are here now, and there is still so much more we can achieve, going forward.

That is so true and that is what we need to focus on indeed!

Thank you for stopping by and giving your input on my post. I do appreciate it!

What wasn't so perfect though, was my own mindset.

IF you took it more serious sooner it might have worked or you might have burnt out and or just rage quit depending on your mindset. I always say I am a slow learner, it takes me far longer, seemingly, than others to truly understand the value and concepts behind things. I am also a huge procrastinator and accomplish very little until it feels perfect. The problem with perfect is you will never start anything then.

Understanding or just clicking with something though is very important and when it did click for you, you did something about it and started joining in with the drive you get from having passed through that barrier of understanding. If it does not flip that switch that makes you go " Ah, now I kinda get it." Then I think it is like banging your head against a wall, and you may have ended up just resenting the platform or whatever it is you are attempting purely out of frustration.

Although it may be the procrastinator in me but I firmly believe that I should be patient and yes I do need to grind at it but very little is going to be accomplished by bashing your head against a wall because of having Fomo'ed into something you don't click with.

Maybe not the perfect time and sometimes late, but better late and ready than early with your dick in your hand or you put it better

Now I have learned something. There is no time for regrets and thinking about where I could have been.

I think I can truly associate with what you are saying here. I also prefer to rather take my time and get to fully understand something (and feel comfortable with it), before I commit to it fully.

And if I feel pressured by anyone, I tend to get irritated and rather leave.

So yes, I definitely agree. It might have taken me a while to get there and yes, it would have been nice if I started earlier. But I feel comfortable with where I am, with what I do, and with how I do it now.

Rushing it could have just ended up in disaster as you rightfully say.

Thank you for your thoughtful input and for leaving your comment. I really do appreciate it!

This is inspiring! I know what you mean when you wished you had taken the activities more seriously.

There were times I was a bit lax in my engagement but later picked things up and have been having fun ever since. We can't turn back the hands of time...we can only move forward.

Glad @dreemport brought me here as I am motivated to do more! Well done and keep hiving! 🙂

Thank you for this inspiring comment. I do appreciate it!

Yes, it is amazing how, once we understand it and get more active, we are actually having fun doing it.

But it is also true what you say about not being able to go back in time...the only way is forward. And it is up to us what we make of it.

I am glad that you are motivated and thank you to @dreemport for bringing you here!

I love those penny-drop and lightbulb moments. At least you are finding the positives and moving forwards with drive and passion and not dwelling on what could have been. I am sure you will be very successful. I am already seeing you pop up all over the place lol and enjoy engaging with you. For me, the penny dropped when I realised that a post I had created simply asking for help on an issue I was stuck with turned into a post with more engagement and therefore social capital than the few I'd written prior to that. It also gave me more rewards than the others put together. Then I realised, what I needed to do was to be me and stop trying to write for an audience that I thought was out there (crypto sphere) and of which I didn't know much as I was a newb myself and start writing about what brought me joy, what drove my passions and interests. So not really regret but a learning curve that brought me back on track to being true to myself. Thankfully I didn't waste too much time. My intention coming to Hive was to write more regularly but I mistakenly tried to fit my writing to what I thought everyone wanted to read on a blockchain. How wrong could I have been? The Hive offers opportunity in the form of diverse communities for everyone to find a home within which they are most comfortable. I now write my short stories, my poetry, some blogging, and articles about topics that really mean something to me. I engage in communities, projects, and contests that bring me joy, inspire and /or challenge me such as @scholaris and @calumam's POB word of the week, @dibbler.dabs The Tale of Two pizzas, @tattoodj's Wednesday Walk, @wesphilbin's Thoughtful Daily Post, @flaxz We are Alive tribe, @dreemsteem's Dreemport, @wil.metcalfe's @comet.ranker project and @thekittygirl's Ladies of Hive. I have recently started reading content and engaging with @trostparadox's students in their Gradium site on Hive and in their @Proofofblind project. Both are fabulous initiatives and I would encourage others to take a look. I also take part occasionally in @elricmoonslayer's Random Thought of the Day and now have my own contest that I run once a month for newcomers to Hive to try to encourage them to engage, write and stake :-) I have mentioned all the above as you may find them great places to find opportunities for learning extension and engagement too :-) I am sure there are dozens of other worthy tribes and communities out there and I'm sure I've failed to mention one or two that I am involved in but my mind is a bit full at the mo lol. It's all about spreading the net far and wide and exploring the unknown. There is much wonder and diversity out there on the blockchain just as there is IRL. 🙏 ha ha just realised I got a bit carried away responding to your question, but that's me! 😂I came to your post via @dreemport

And I just love it that you got carried away...lol!

What an awesome comment!

The Hive offers opportunity in the form of diverse communities for everyone to find a home within which they are most comfortable. I now write my short stories, my poetry, some blogging, and articles about topics that really mean something to me. I engage in communities, projects, and contests that bring me joy,...

Especially what you have written here caught my attention. Some time ago I also thought I would try my hand at blogging... I attended a webinar and I can remember the one guy who did a presentation was telling how he battled for years...with no success.

All this time he was focusing on what he thought his audience wanted to hear and tries to stick to a particular topic. Eventually, he got tired of it and decided to just start writing for fun. He started writing about what he was passionate about and what made him happy.

What happened next was totally unexpected. People started reading his posts and started commenting and engaging with him. Today he is a successful full-time blogger.

And look at what you are telling me. I was also caught up in this idea of only writing on one topic for one audience, but...look at what you are telling me now.

I am going to save your comment and use it for reference. Thank you so much for mentioning all those projects and communities. I am most definitely going to pay close attention to that and take action on it!

Thank you once again and thank you to @dreemport for bringing you to my post!

You are very welcome and pleased my comment was too lol. Definitely check out those communities, contests etc that I mentioned. They are all fabulous. The only true answer is to be true to yourself; everything else flows from that🙏

I had my own regrets too on a platform I should have joined earlier than when I joined. It's called Readcash, are you a member there already? You get paid for writing original content and you are given Bitcoincash.
I regretted not joining before then but I wasn't sad afterall because I was able to accumulate more BCH till now.

Here is the link if you haven't joined

https://read.cash/@Princessbusayo/a-great-ride-in-september-5bd7cbf6

Also, I don't want to regret not coming to HIVE on time but I thank God for what I have achieved here also because it was my source of income through writing each day and interacting with others.

I came in through @dreemport

I've heard about Readcash but have never been there.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out for sure.

It's awesome to hear that Hive became a source of income for you! Keep up the good work, I enjoy reading your posts.

And thank you to @dreemport for sending you to my post!

Nah... I don't trust that ad about earning by learning about crypto unless its a link from CoinMarketCap or trusted sources.

Now regrets... I don't see any reason for you to have regrets on this really, you have benifited by being in the Hive Blockchain.

I had my time starting over in Steem, which actually benefited, an angle supported my content and things grew...the fork happened... but it turned out good coz one can earn in two chains Steem and Hive...

My regrets in crypto...can be many(: ...stating to invest earlier, earn earlier, starting to diversify to other Alt coin investments earlier but you knoe what... I am getting better at finding good crypto projects and I check them out and am doing ok and growing in the space without any earn and learn crypto program...

So I am ok... my regrets are washed away, and I am hoping to use my learnings to make it big in the crypto space for myself...lets see!!

I don't have any real regrets...lol. I have learned a lot in the time I've been here. I am still learning and enjoying every moment of it. It's just a thought to throw around...thinking "wow, I could have been further on the journey if I started earlier".

No harm done.

Thank you for stopping by and for giving your input. All the best with making it big in the crypto space!

Have a great day!
