In this post I want to talk about some top tips I've found for managing the Splinterlands economy.

Here's the first tip. Thank you to the official Splinterlands account. I submitted my second post to the Social Media Challenge and received an upvote worth 14.77 Hive Rewards!

There's a ton of tips I want to share so I'm just going to structure this as a loose collection. I'll share a more general post about my experience + biggest mistakes next time. Enjoy!

General Tips

  1. Pay attention to @splinterlands for challenges and contests
  2. You should also get set up on hive-engine.
  3. Airdrops. The beautiful thing about this game right now are the Airdrops awards. You get daily value for every asset you own. It should be even better when the vouchers come back.
  4. Invest in the future. If you believe long term in the future of the game, try to own different assets. Right now is the worst time to buy cards, unfortunately.
  5. Staking. At first I was staking the SPS I got. But until the vouchers come back out I think it's better to get on HIVE-engine and stake. The keychain makes it very convenient
  6. Providing liquidity is risky but I think DEC/SPS are strongly correlated so pretty safe. This is just my take I'm not an advisor.
  7. I cash out DEC/SPS and receive double the Airdrop points. I use Beeswap/Leodex since they charge lower fees.
  8. Secure your account. Make sure you always use the correct URLS and secure your pws.
  9. CardAuctionz gives the most cashback for buying cards. I buy my cards here.
  10. MonsterMarket has a Discord channel (market-feed) that shows you "hot discounts."

Managing PeakMonsters

  1. PeakMonsters is the best site overall and I find the most value here.
  2. Manage your collection efficiently. My Cards shows you every card you own. You can get a quick estimate of your collection value and filter them. You can use Select All to mass select and list quickly. This feature is a godsend.
  3. Quick manage rentals. You can Select All then Rent All at the top. When you go to Rent you can click Set lowest market price and it will auto generate prices for your rentals. I try to aim for >50% yROA-B which means you'll get back at least 50% of your investment at current prices over the year. Many cards will get you even more.
  4. I scroll through Rentals and if I'm not happy with the yROA-B I see if someone is hard undercutting the market. You can just target the next price after that and hopefully it fills.
  5. If you browse the Rent tab, you can sort by CP/DEC to find both the cheapest values and the worst values. The worst values (lowest CP/DEC) are the hottest cards. For a long time Mylor had the worst CP/DEC. The bottom CP/DEC cards are basically the most in demand cards.
  6. Bids. Also check the highest bids on cards to see the best you can get for them if they're not selling at all. You can also make bids yourself for cards you're interested in and you'll get nice discounts.

Assessing Card Value on PeakMonsters

  1. Most of my mistakes in this game are tied to improperly assessing card value. Don't make the mistakes I did!
  2. I would not buy cards right now. But when you want to buy a card, there are two mandatory steps to take. The first is to open the Market Trend on PeakMonsters and check the past month.
  3. Pay attention to the Quantity Sold and the Volume. A lot of sharks seem to be manipulating the market. They'll dump like 20 on random days to make it seem like the overall volume is active. Some cards have sat unsold for weeks.
  4. Once you do that, go to Splintercards. Splintercards is another great community resource.

Tips for using Splintercards

  1. Splintercards will help you learn the different Ability keywords.
  2. When you want to buy a card, click it. There is a graph that shows you the market value for regular/gold over the past 3 months. Use this with the PeakMonsters chart for the full picture.
  3. Often there is a big split between the low card and the low Bcx. Most cards are priced much higher for the level 1 value and then lose value as they go higher level.
  4. You should pick the League you will most realistically settle at and not waste money on higher level cards. For my level right now I've picked Silver.
  5. The best value deals will have the same BCX for a lower level card as they do for a higher level card. If the card is in demand it sells quite fast.
  6. The Tools in Splintercards are quite great. Loot chest value shows you if it's worth renting to push to higher rewards.
  7. Low prices gap shows you the biggest discounts for buying higher level cards.
  8. List price analysis will show you the trend for different cards.

This post is looking like a wall of text so I'll stop here. If you enjoy this post or have feedback please leave a comment. I'll give away a copy of my first reward card this season to a random like on this post.

Referral Program + Giveaway

For my first post giveaway, I rolled 2 random numbers and got @jhuleader (Heatsmith) and @limka (Bandit) as the winners. Enjoy.

Join Splinterlands through my link and let's work together! Happy to share cards and strategies.
