The Peak Souvenirs

I was decluttering my gallery as its getting full when I saw these photos taken last Christmas when I visited Victoria Peak. I thought they are good for #MarketFriday and so I opted to make this content. Hey there @dswigle, Happy Market Friday.

When visiting a new place, either I will look for a new taste in food or something to take home like souvenirs. I visited several shops in different parts of HK and bought some items. I have some decent numbers of them, yet, I can't show you as they are prettily packed in my luggage and I don't want to unpack them, lol.

Anyway, when I stepped out of the tram at Victoria Peak and walked a little to the corner, the first shop I came across was the peak souvenir shop. I've been to different souvenir shops but I guess this was the largest. They aren't just selling souvenirs but also merchandise, toys, and other gift items.

Different kinds of HK vehicles are some of the toys sold in the shop like the HK tour bus, the fastest train, tram, plane, taxi, and others.

Do you know that there are different colors of taxis in Hong Kong depending on what district you are in? You'll commonly see red taxis in urban areas mostly in Hong Kong Island District. Meanwhile, green for New Territories and blue and Lantau Islands.

I am one of those who likes buying fridge magnet souvenirs and I found this panda magnet so cute. Some of the magnets are similar to those I bought back then.

Of course, keychains are a common type of souvenir. I didn't buy one as I already have collected a lot of HK keychains.

The shop also has HK-printed T-Shirts and bags. There are even Chinese traditional costumes sold in the shop. I never thought of buying one as they don't suit me, lol.

They are also selling wholesale items like these souvenir plates. I thought of buying one. But then I remembered I already have one, lol. I might consider buying other designs next time. I know a shop selling cheaper souvenirs in Central.

Have you ever wondered why Chinese shops and business establishments have ceramic or plastic figurines of beckoning cats? They actually originated in Japan and they call it maneki-neko. This kind of figurine has a motorized arm that beckons customers to enter the shop to buy items. It says that this figurine also brings good luck to the owner. Just click the hyperlink to read more about it.

Not just the Japanese or Chinese people have this kind of figurine, other Asian countries also adopted this belief.

I was looking at these cards when I thought of getting one and sending it to my family. But later I realized that I can simply send my original photos to them, lol.

Since this is a Chinese country, it is expected to see these items: women figurines wearing traditional costumes, buddhas, dragons, and different landmarks of Hong Kong.

But my favorite one is these panda stuffed toys. If only I have a bigger bag, I would had bought one. But I find it inconvenient to hold something while wandering around, so I would just buy it next time when I am about to go back home to my country.

Chinese people love pandas and you certainly as it's their natural treasure. I saw giant ones when I visited Ocean Park and they really look cute.

That concludes my Market Friday for today. Advance happy weekend everyone.

Ahh I love the kitten that moves its arm ❤️. I always wanted one as a teenager, now that I'm an adult with a job I should get one.

How beautiful this store looks, it would be difficult to choose an object because they all look good. Although it is obvious that I would choose the kitten :D
