Foreigner's Guide to German Hive on Loop

avatar

I declare my recent social experiment a mild failure. Sure, it proved people prefer to stand away from fights unless they have a dog in (most do not) but I have known that before. I did not even get a couple of hot-head downvotes I expected (I am not nervous though, my fair share should come closer to payout). Bad luck.

On the other hand, I got to have a civil conversation with @balte, who is the largest whale in the German-written sea. He questioned my policy of not leaving a note while downvoting. Even though I never downvoted his posts, he has upvoted a couple of posts involved so it would be rude not to inform him.

The recurrent post image has just recurred!

Therefore, I present you the Foreigner's Guide to German Hive on Loop. It is not meant to accuse accounts (although I voice my personal assessments). It is meant to catalogue the reccurent posts in German language for the benefit of a casual passer-by not equipped with the language skill. I give the English summary and some insight but any conclusions you may make are your full responsibility. I picked up that people involved understand the unusual nature of their posts so the main motivation is to level the information ground between those who speak the language and those who not. As I happen to stand in-between the two camps, I seem to be a decent choice for the first step.

Before we start, there is nothing wrong with digest posts or any recurrent posts a priori. I am around a couple of those myself. But these are not designed as money grabs, these are centered around content. Not because someone voted they have to. That's because spam avoidance is a part of basic social contract on Hive. So is valuing engagement (which was the principal point that @schlees raised a while ago when we touched the subject he voted). This is where opinions come into play.

(Shortened) Post titles in italics are not meant to be links. The posts' contents can vary day from day. It is not fair to give me an option to pick the best or worst as I please. You are meant to look at the profile and use the provided info as an aid to browsing a language you might not understand.

@kirstin / @barmbo

Multiple posts a day.

I elected to pool the two accounts into a single entry as both posting times and voting behaviour openly indicates the accounts are owned by a single entity.

kirstin - Würfel - in Reih und Glied ÀND barmbo - Finde die richtige Reihenfolge - Guess the random draw. Fixed prizepool of in HSBI although it seems there is no carry-over if no winners (seems common situation).

kirstin - Mit zwei Richtigen gewinnen AND barmbo - Lotto: 2 in einer Zahl - Guess lotto numbers. These honestly confuse me as I might not understand the rules (esp on barmbo variation) and pretty much noone is entering so watching the gameplay is not an option.

When I started downvoting, kirstin account tried posting regular articles for a while but then gave up and added a couple recurrent embedded-videos/images posts instead since.

@levi-miron

One post a day

There is weekly scheme of two 3-day runs rotating Main Game (Lotto), Second Chance (2.Gelegenheit) and Results (Aufloesung) and the seventh day of the week for the Steemmonsters (sic!) thing (rotating Game and Results)

Lotto: A skin of kirstin/barmbo Lotto game (pretty much the same rules). Low attendance as well.

Steemmonsters: I am not even sure what the prize is, does not seem to hit often.

Judging by the tag selection, the account is probably also owned by the kirstin/barmbo operation.

@urum

One post every other day

This one is tricky. The recurrent posts might be considered low-effort but there is an actual content. I laughed at times. OTOH, there is the very tight connection to above-mentioned accounts. They are trading votes and urum keeps calling @investinthefutur bot for them.

umuk - und sein Witze-Stammtisch - Three anectodes per post.

umuk - stellt seine Netzfunde vor - A collection of embedded Tweets that came out funny or weird.

@kryptodenno

Three daily posts.

This seems to be the most successful account monetarily. I do not see where the difference comes from. It is not like the would produce any non-recurrent content on the side.

Mich gelüstet, also... [HSBI-Verlosung für DACH] - Make a trivial comment to enter random draw for HBSI. Hive payouts fund the HBSI purchases. Tribe tokens pocketed.

Die deutschsprachigen Hive- & Kryptoartikel des heutigen Tages - Mit Gewinnspiel-Sektion - No give-away, Daily digest of articles in German. The list has a dedicated section for recurrent kickback-schemes.

Dennos Splinterlands Giveaway - 3 Monsters A Day - The newest addition (after I started downvoting). Pick a card from a list in the comments. Fixed prizepool (around 1.50). So far, payouts safely cover costs

@starthilfe

Single daily post

The account description says "Delegationen und Support für Newcomer" but there is zero (0) outgoing delegations atm and no recent outgoing transfers.

Diese Beiträge brauchen eure Unterstützung! Aufruf zum Voten! - Call for votes. Includes a list of posts that are claimed to be worth of an upvote. The list is heavily skewed towards recurrent kickback-schemes. Always includes kirstin/barmbo posts.

@portalvotes

One daily post

The account claims to be a bot owned by @portalmine, which is a small HP account that has not posted for 8 months.

Portalvotes vom bis - digest post including most abovementioned kickback schemes. Differs from others in low tag usage.

@lotto-de

Three posts a week.

This is a dedicated account openly owned by @miketr. That is a real account and their eccentric formatting clearly links the two accounts while setting them aside from the rest.
There are actual IRL lotto tickets being bought and any wins along with 80% of post payouts, HSBIs and @ecency Points is to be given to the winners.
Unlike the other games, the most of the prizepool comes straight out of @balte's pocket. Smaller part also comes from patrons chipping in Hive from their wallets. I do appreciate the difference, but I still believe the game could run independent of Hive's DAO and the tribe tokens.
Also miketr is the first account I have ever noticed to call the bots over to tip the post they wrote themselves which adds to the controversy of the project that has a legitimate target audience IMO.

Unser Hive Lotto-Tip-Post - Picking up the numbers

Unser Hive-Lottoschein für Samstag - Proof of Bet

Die Hive-Lotto Gewinner und Quoten - Results and prize distribution

@photobook

One weekly post.

This account seems indpendent of the main ring as there is no voting. It was posting regular content (on a break now).

Jeden verdammten Mittwoch... - Old style operation. Upvote to take part. 50% benefactor @dach-support. The rest is split between author and winners.

3 - 2 - 1 -1 - 1 = deins! - 8 HSBI für das Sommerloch - HSBI for random comments.

@dotwin1981

One weekly post.

Steam is a videogaming platform and the account regularly posts about the topic. Regular voting patrons somewhat overlap with abovementioned accounts but that seems generic to me. My assessment is that a genuine account just picked up the pattern already present in the community.

Random Steam Key Giveaway - Upvote required. HSBI seems to be a bonus prize, the giveaway is centered around Steam Keys.

@bossel

One daily post.

This account seems 100% legit. It actually has an English section so no translation necessary.

China news roundup - A legitimate full-content niche digest post.

@mein-senf-dazu

One monthly post.

Included for the sake of the completeness. An unusual frequency on a totally legitimate account.

Mein Senf dazu Gewinnspiel - Pick a number, upvotes not required. English translation included.

@mundharmonika

One weekly post

Seriously, if you are still reading this, you deserve a reward. This is it. A great collection of geographical pecularities. If you can get your hands on the prizepool, hats off. You fully deserve it. It is not easy. I challenge anyone claiming to run thier operation to promote engagement to provide this amount of value.

Geografie quiz - Up to 40% author rewards to players that answer non-trivial (actually difficult) questions

@investinthefutur

Irregular posting. No "Gewinnspiele".

So how does the account qualify for a mention? Well, I admit it took me a while to notice as it looks like an ordinary investment fund (there are a couple of them built around different communities on Hive). It is run by @cervisia and uses its own token - VOIN richlist.

If you checked the richlist you probably recognise quite a few names already. I do not think accounts that bought into it are necessarily involved in the operation. On balance, it totally looks like a LASSECASH token operation split into multiple wallets. One person? One family? One sporting club? Who cares. It looks like a single entity.

Depot-Stand - Overview ot VOIN token. Legitimate investment fund overview post that is useful to check out to see who upvotes.

Conclusion

I am not here for the drama. I think I spent a disproportionate amount of time given the money involved. It is a waste unless there are results. If you do not want Lasse to milk your token, you just set your tribe to ignore his lassecash tag. What does one do if uncomfortable with VOIN? Ignore deutsch tag?

Personally, I have one question to ask.

@cervisia, I am sorry to single you out as there is no proof you are running any of the accounts outside investinthefutur. But any insight you have as the VOIN token leader could be really helpful for me to understand the community's dynamics. Can you please explain your project?

Asking the tribe leaders would be the next one. There are a couple involved across the accounts. I changed my usual tag selection to include a couple involved.

Guys and gals, are you ok with spreading your tokens to all/some/none of those?

I am not saying any part of the operation is illegal/illegitimate (although I am downvoting personally). Is it big enough to bother people on blockchain level? Is the scheme worth replicating to fuel engagement? Did it work for DACH community? I am still ready to make up my mind on these.

I want everyone to find their corner on Hive. I wouldn't have digged into the #deutsch community affairs if it were not for the posters' effort to reach other communities. Once again, noone mentioned in my post should be attacked blindly, these are all judgement issues and everyone is entitled to their own preferences.

Did I miss any kickback/prizepool recurrent post in German? Let me know if I did.

although i dont wanna comment "too much" here -maybe the accounts you noticed should do it by their own- here some words.
Most of this accounts are members of the "german speaking" community for a very long time now, some for a shorter period.
No one is a scammer, some have their fans of coursem thats normal if you act on a social-media-blockchain. I vote them without any trail or something, some for years now, because i like their projects and because we had a lot of comment- and other contact togehter.
Some dont like their projects,so they are not voting.
As you mentioned, i am a whale, but not the biggest one with "german background", and i am not only german, due to my estonian passport.
I mainly support the "german speaking" community (Germany, austria, switzerland) for a long time now, but not only, it depends on my voting-manna, i always mentioned, that i am 1/3 investor, 1/3 blogger (i started as a blogger, but for a long time a write own posts only once a month or something/comment-creator, 1/3 curator.
I am also involved in a lot of other projects like the next hive-camp at the "bodensee", organized by @blue-rabbit, i support the great @hiq press-people with a lot of discussions and with some delegation like some others, and a lot of things more.
@lotto-de is for example something, which runs @miketr now for a long time, and a lot of members like that, i vote the posts, give some comments from time to time and spend 40 Hive every week for this project. The project brings people together and some hivians have a lot of fun by doing the lotto-game together.
About @investinthefutur ask @cervisia, he runs a witness node also. I am in the richlist, there, "of course" still at position one right now, due to my high HP, but i stopped to get any "vointokens" a long time ago, so the smaller accounts who are in this project, have more benefits.
And if somebody writes several posts a day with his own content, he or she is free to do this here.
Not every post gets an upvote from me every day of course.
Maybe i dont get any point of your post right, sorry, english is not my mother-language just as yours.
Instead of downvoting it should be better to get in contact with all this content creators, as we discussed this night.
And i am just curious to know, why you spend so much attention to this "german" accounts, you could do this with the spanish, the italian, the french, the russian, the US and Uks, the africans and all the other communities, which are on this blockchain.
For me it is not clear, what you wanna tell us here with your post at the end and i a ask myself, why you dont ask all of this content creators personally first about their projects, if you have any problems with their content.
Best regards.

German-background and German-written are two different things. I can only speculate why the bigger accounts elect not to use German on Hive even though they could.

And i am just curious to know, why you spend so much attention to this "german" accounts, you could do this with the spanish, the italian, the french, the russian, the US and Uks, the africans and all the other communities, which are on this blockchain.

  1. None of the communities elected to enter the corner of Hive I spend my time in. At least not en masse.

  2. Even if they would, I do not have the language skills to deal with them unless somone else makes this kind of post to guide me.

Alter Schalter!

I like to thank you, @balte, and every well minded member of the community for making up for yesterday's fuss. Frankly, I changed my mind around "mag die Idee eines Inflations-Pools und Proof of Stake um so weniger", because I sense how monetary influence gives clashing parties significant leverage, no matter how small. It is easy to ignore a Like, Dislike, or Troll. But when it comes to actually gaining attention for a cause, a conversation gets to a more substantial level. I like that, the more I think about it and actually experience it.

Even though I had a good laugh when I read this comment

and my reputation is below zero because you guys have trade union.

and there may be something to that, maybe the low reputation is more about calling other people liars.

Either way, as long as the reputation is in the basement like that, I'll rather give my attention away elsewhere. My last #dcity post is not hard to find. And from here on, every other answer to a question I have to reveal for me to read it, costs 5 Hive in advance.

Who else is in for a !PIZZA ?

Your are right, its more about calling other people liars etc.You can see this with this "trade union accusation" here again, and of course, all the others are liars, spammers, most toxic and more, they made a great evil conspiracy😂 and the account behind this great evil is balte😂😂.
There is no "abuse" in the so called german speaking community (which are quite different persons which quite different points of views), but a crusader must strongly follow his way and his personal blacklists, like it seems to be. But, hive on, should not spend to much attenton to this topic, there are a lot of positive things going on with this blockchain. Best regards.

Haha! A stale beer is definitely worthless compared to some sausages, bacon and spam. It all is traffic after all. Time spent in traffic at the end of the day. But who usurps the right to decide who commutes where and when? Here's another slice of !PIZZA

If i see something what could be a spam etc -in my opinion- i just dont vote it, thats enough for me. Usually i dont use my downvotepower, last ones are one year ago, even more, but sometimes it seems to necessary, and its part of the code.
Sausages and bacon and !BEER i prefer😀. best regards.

Hmm, if you prefer a cold !PIZZA and a hot women or a hot pizza and a cold women may be a question of age and possibilities, sometimes. But everybody can find what he prefers, just like in this blockchain:)).
And theres is a famous poem from Tucholsky, "Ideal und Wirklichkeit":

Man möchte jeden Morgen dauerlaufen
und tut es nicht. Beinah ... beinah ...
Wir dachten unter kaiserlichem Zwange
an eine Republik ... und nun ist's die!
Man möchte immer eine große Lange,
und dann bekommt man eine kleine Dicke –
Ssälawih – !"

So,there is one !WINE.

Hive on.

Hello @jelly13 , so if you don't understand my text, please ask because English is not my mother tongue
What is Investinthefutur about:
There are two points here:
@investinthefutur is an account that invests the income from the post in various tokens, if a certain upper limit is reached then there is a distribution to the VOIN token holder. Unfortunately we are still among them.
The second point is the tool !invest_vote, here you can mark different posts which are then voted via a bot, this should simply give the small account the opportunity to reward good post.
But am currently in the process of changing it a little, but in total it is so that the income goes back to Hive
As for @balte, we are glad that he supports us and does not ask for anything in return.
It is best to simply ask questions and questions will answer your questions as best as possible.

Your English is better than my German.

I do not have any further questions. Just a resume.

I understand you folks didn't build a wall around your land based on language barrier. It fully explains how could I have made a few connections with German speaking people who do not seem to hang around DACH. The wall is based on politics so my assumption we could agree on basic rules when someone of you goes outside is void. You are behind the wall because you want to. Those who could not stand it left it. Fair enough.

OK, there was one exception that lives within the wall. I learned my lesson. Secret message to an insider: Jaromír is an addicted gambler that openly supports at least two political movements that aim to attack personal liberty (one in China, the other in Czechia).

Back to topic: Anyone offended by my lack of adherence to DACH ways should note that I never asked to be allowed in. I can see the wall, if you can see it and avoid violating it, you are safe from me.

I am going to continue to DV spam, that is what I consider to be spam. The so-called content creators will keep milking.

The @hiq magazine should have assigned someone with better English skills on the story. I know they have audience they need to appease but they are misreading too much for my taste. I am obviously not bothered with fact-checking them.

I appreciate both of you talking to me. You deserved upvotes from me but others did me a favor and saved me the click. No offence taken.

I think a great problem is the language , if you make a project and i can't not explain in english , therefore it is only known in the German-speaking area.

(S)he creates letters/characters. Those letters/characters have feelings too - I do not want to mislabel them.

Balte is not ignoring abuse. He is a customer that wants to be entertained for his money. The scenario replays in various pokerrooms or strip clubs across the world. These operations might be illegal at some places but are mostly tolerated in exchange for their tax money. Sometimes the money does flow the other way - and you immediately know the neighborhood is not a place you want to live in.

But seriously, the concept of reward pool abuse is not present in all cultures.
