September 02, 2022

Everyone loves DIY. It will show your creativity, initiative, perseverance and dedication for a specific project.

Today, I will share to you my three DIY projects. Without further ado, let's go.

Budgetting envelope

IMG20220902081017.jpg
I made this last 2015 and fortunately I am using it until these days.

You might say, it is not a DIY because it looks like an envelope that can be bought in the store. But, honestly I made it using a pattern of the envelope that is available in the market.

I made it a month before our wedding day. I am still employed that time and when my schedule is for night shift I will bring my materials like the paper (I forgot the specific kind of that paper), scissors, ruler and glue and doing it on some time to entertain myself and won't fall asleep. I decided to make it to be used as an envelope for the cash gifts from our god parents, friends, relatives and anyone who wants to give cash gifts on our wedding day.

There were some envelope left after the wedding and I decided to use some as a budgetting envelope. My husband was amazed for this creativity and since we live together after the wedding, I also started budgetting. When a pay day came, I then divided them and alocate something for specific envelope. I put first for the Tithes and offering, savings, then rice, water and electric, and so on.

It's so useful and helpful for us in budgetting so we won't over spend but will spend only within the limit. Live within your means.

Storage box

IMG20220902082630.jpg
I made these storage boxes around 2009 and they are still serving me until these days.

This is a DIY storage box from a recycled bondpaper box. When I am still working, a utility was scheduled for a clean up at night. I can see some bondpaper boxes to be thrown. So, I asked some of them and bring them home. It was December of 2009 that I bought some gifts and wrappers for my parents and siblings (I am still single that time). After packing some gifts, there are wrappers left and I used it to cover those boxes. I then put a clear plastic in the side as a space for a thing tag. By having it, I can easily determine what is inside.

I have it not just one, two, three but I think 8-10 boxes. Some are being used by my son as his toy boxes and others are already damage. For now, I only have four storage boxes left and I get two for pictures.

I am happy having it because I can store something in it and I can easily piled them up in the corner or at the top of the cabinet.

Cellphone holder

IMG20220902081420.jpg

IMG20220902081808.jpg
I made this cellphone holder around 2010.

This is my DIY cellphone holder. I have learned some basic of crochet during high school days. When I already working and live in a boarding house away from my parents, crochet is one of my pass time.

I decided to make a cellphone holder for me and my friends. I gave each of them during their birthday or Christmas season as a gift.

My cellphone back then is a keypad phone because that is the common cellphone that time. Look at this old picture. I'm sorry for the quality of the photo. I just took a picture from my photo album and it uses a low quality paper making the colors fade away as time pass by.

That's me and my friends. We are all thin back then but now all of us gained a lot of weight. Can you spot our cellphone? Can you find me? Can you spot the cellphone holder I made? That cellphone holder is almost 12 years old and I still keep it as a remembrance. It also remind me of those days that my fingers felt some pain and looks like deformed because of crocheting but still I am doing it because its fun and satisfying when you finish a specific project.

Those are my three DIY projects and I hope you like it.

This is also my participation for the ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #22 My DIY Projects.

Thank you so much @justinparke for this amazing initiative. Thank you also @melinda010100 for sponsoring this wonderful challenge.

Have fun, have DIY projects.

These works are superb. I know it's not only me that feels lazy to be productive in things like these🤣.

The saving envelopes caught me, how did you managed to save in such easy access paper without using the money before the scheduled period? If it were me, the story would have been another thing lol🤣

Thanks for the appreciation @kingsleyy. Yes many are telling me the same as yours, but saving in different forms it maybe a simple envelope, a coin bank, in an ATM or in a bank, you can easily get it if you want. But if you have self discipline you will not touch it unless needed or you will use it for the specific purpose of savings.

Salamat sa appreciation @teacherlynlyn. Yes cute din sya at di rin madaling masira as long as iniingatan din.

Yes daming pwedeng gawin sa bondpaper boxes. Makapal kasi at parang strong sya kaya di madaling masira. Yung ibang box nilagyan ko ng mga book hehehe

I laughed very much when I saw your cardboard boxes, just like my family and I. We never let a good box go to waste, and we usually cover them in tape or some other material to prevent roaches or mice from wanting to chew on them.

I love the phone holder too, I was still using my old-school Nokia phone pre-COVID, and carried it along with an iPod for music. My friends use laugh at me for being so old-fashioned, but I now have used iPhone 8 that someone gifted me, so now music library and phone calls all take place in on device 😁.
