Lawrence Okolie knocks out Krzysztof Głowacki to win the WBO cruiserweight title

Lawrence Okolie representing Great Britain has just been crowned WBO cruiserweight champion after knocking out Krzysztof Glowacki at the Wembley Arena.

Okolie who was just featuring in his 16th professional match stunned Polish fighter in the sixth round after landing a huge right hand. The victory extends Okolie's record to 16 wins in 16 fight with 13 knock-outs.

Glowacki who has only tasted defeat twice in all of his 33 professional fights coming from world champions Oleksandr Usyk and Mairis Briedis makes it a significant win for Okolie.

Lawrence Okolie dominated Krzysztof Głowacki all through starting from the first round as he exercised control from jabs to right hooks before landing the punch that knocked his opponent out the Pole in the sixth round.

The 28 year Brit follows the footsteps of former patriots Glenn McCrory, Carl Thompson, Johnny Nelson, Enzo Maccarinelli, David Haye and Tony Bellew as he become the 7th to win the cruiserweight title.

Okolie next target is to unify the division and he stated that out of the available champions he will like to face Latvian boxer and IBF cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis.
