Splinterlands: Purchasing more cards to improve my win rate

avatar

With the recent reward changes, I decided to improve my deck by buying some Chaos Legion cards to win more fights. Just like my last purchase, I decided on gold foil cards for my own deck. The extra 10% per card will help when trying to get both focus and seasonal chests. My latest season came in with a less than 50% win rate and it isn't ideal for me.

Purchases

I choose to buy gold foil Chaos Legion cards because I am lacking leveled up chaos legion cards. As I started playing during the untamed edition, I have been fighting more in the modern rule set but most of my cards are leveled up untamed cards. Even after the changes so that I can use any splinter type for chests, I am still unable to stay above the 50% win rate for the season. It was close and I have noticed that the leveled-up cards have helped me.

Rather than using SPT tokens like last time, I decided to use the DEC I got from rentals and battles this time. I choose to buy a few cards that I use more often in fights. These cards are rare cards but they will directly help me more in fights as I only have level 1 versions of these cards. For example, the Merdaali Guardian card is used quite often when I use water for the tank heal ability. Xenith Archer is a 2 mana neutral monster and I use it sometimes as a filler monster when using Yodin Zaku. Xenith Monk has self-heal at level 2 and it will make for a good neutral tank. Scavo Firebolt is used along with Yodin Zaku and Soul Stranger could come in useful when I use death splinters. There are other cards that I wanted but I did not get them.

I should work on summoners but they are quite expensive. So I will save up some more DEC before I do so. I purchased these cards through Monster Market to get some DEC back for my purchase. There are also a few other cards that I want for my deck as well such as epic or legendary cards but they are also quite expensive.

Conclusion

The modern format isn't going as well as I would like but I still think it's the better option due to the cards in my deck. I may lose a few cards but I also don't have to worry about as many cards. I have noticed that there is also a different collection power requirement so I wonder how it will affect the rental market. I rearranged some rental prices but my rental income is starting to drop so I won't be earning as much. Either way, the new gold foil cards should help me earn more chests and it could be the difference between a win or loss.

How are you doing under the new match format?

Good luck with your pack opening. I opened like 36 a few weeks ago and I got a gold foil summoner and a few legendaries. So I think you will get some at least.

I should work on summoners but they are quite expensive.

This is my biggest dilemma now stuck at level 4 and needing funds to upgrade my summoners. Am just having to settle with renting for now.

I prefer not to rent out cards and to actually own them so it's getting annoying for me. It's one of the biggest bottlenecks for me.

The biggest thing facing the rental market right now are the rental bots. Now that card owners can sign up and have a bot rent out their cards, many of the biggest accounts that used to not bother renting their cards out now have all their cards on the market. This sudden supply glut is driving prices way down. At the same time, many of the bot farms are still sidelined. Aggy was interviewing one of them on the last town hall even. Still looking for a way to come back but been shut down for months.

I've been lazily writing a post about this for a few days !LOLZ

I was a bit surprised to see how far it dropped because it was fine last season. However, I guess it was bound to happen eventually and it will be interesting to see how things proceed.
