Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! ARMORED UP

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific rule set and on this week's post it is a battle with the Armored Up rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is super sneak, armored up and odd ones out. This means that all monsters get +2 armor, melee monsters get sneak, and only odd mana cards can be used. There is also 53 mana available and I am left with the choice of only earth splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Obsidian. In a match like this, I that having a magic boost is more important if there is a monster with shield. I don't have many gold foil magic cards though to play in brawls though.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Obsidian4Summoner+1 magic
Nectar Queen91stFlying
Disintegrator72nd-1 melee attack
Regal Peryton53rdMagic and Flying
Sand Worm94thSneak
Gargoya Devil75thFlying and ranged
Pelacor Mercenary76thFlying
Total Mana:48

My plan is just to have a lineup use flying monsters near the back of my lineup to dodge any physical monsters. I have a decently high health tank up front and I used mainly melee monsters. One of the melee monsters has demoralize for the -1 melee which can come in helpful in this super sneak rule set.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think it will be a tough match but I think I do have the advantage. Luckily, my lineup is geared more towards melee or ranged damage so I don't have to worry about the void as much from my opponent's summoner. The only issue is that my cards are slow so I am not sure how well I will do against that flying high speed monster when I get to it.

Round 2

round 2.png
I got rid of the taunt monster but both my tank and my backline sneak tank have taken some damage. I do believe that I have the advantage because I don't think any of my cards will die next round and they should all be able to get their attacks in.

Round 3

round 3.png
None of my cards died and I took out another 2 cards but that flying card in the back got buffed by the martyr ability. With 7 speed and flying, I am not sure if my slow melee monsters can hit that card.

Round 4

round 4.png
There was a ton of misses on my end last round and I lost my frontline tank but I will speed things up because it's a battle of endurance at this point.

conclusion.png
I got lucky and my sneak melee monsters got enough hits in by chance and I won this match. It could have gotten ugly if I had bad luck and missed more attacks though.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Putting the two best tanks I had at the front and the back of my lineup was the right choice. The flying mosnter at the back took all the sneak damage and never died either. My luck won out in the end and I rolled a good number enough times to kill off my opponent's flying magic monster.

The +1 magic from Obsidian was not that great because of my opponent's summoner. On my opponent's side, I think he did a fairly good job but I think he was lacking in his choices. He didn't use as much mana as I thought he would and that gave me an advantage. So my luck in only using 1 magic monster gave me an advantage. I don't think the taunt really helped my opponent much though.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
