Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! DRAGONS

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is a dragon card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Robo-Dragon Knight

Robo-Dragon Knight.png
Robo-Dragon Knight is a Dragon Splinter card that cost 11 mana. It starts off with void magic and divine shield. As it levels up, it learns piercing, returns fire and magic reflect. At level 1, this card is already a beast of a tank but the only downside I see is the 11 mana cost. Other than that, this card is quite amazing.

I got one of these cards from my rewards chest when this card was still being printed. I haven't used this card much but looking at the stats and abilities, I may have to start using it more in high mana matches. For some reason, I didn't remember that this card has a void magic ability and thought it only had a divine shield. When this card is leveled up, it becomes even more of a beast as magic reflects and void magic work well together. Add in all the armor, and return fire is also quite deadly.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is back to basics and equalizer. All of the monsters will lose all of their abilities and they will all start the fight with the same health as the highest health monster on the field. There is also 58 mana available and you can play life, water, or dragon splinter cards.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Byzantine Kitty. In the back to the basics rule set and the high mana available, the tank heal and the +2 speed will be amazing to have on my side. At the same time, I also won't miss with the true strike ability added to my card.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Byzantine Kitty7SummonerTank heal, +2 speed, and always land hits
Robo-Dragon Knight111stHigh health and Armor
Diamond Dragon102ndHigh armor and magic monster
Dax Paragon23rdFiller card to soak up damage
High Priest Darius104thMagic Damage
Prismologist85thRanged Attack and armor
Silvershield Sheriff96thRanged Attack
Total Mana:57

With Kitty as my summoner, the rest of my lineup is focused on dealing more damage. I used a lot of armored cards to take advantage of the ruleset and I had a 2 mana filler monster to take a few hits after my armored physical and magic monsters go down. You can see the reason for my setup in the table above.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have this match won. I don't know why my opponent choose to put in a sandworm in the middle of his line up and there are a few monsters that I would not of picked with a back to the basics rule set.

Round 2

round 2.png

I didn't take a single point of damage that turn and only lost the armor on my Robo-Dragon Knight. I also noticed that my cards also attack faser than my opponent so I don't think there is any chance of me losing.

Round 3

round 3.png

Unfortunately, my tank heal could not be used and I lost my Robo-Dragon Knight. Next up is my Diamond Dragon and I should be able to take out some of his ranged damage dealers soon enough. With 10 armor left on my Diamond Dragon and tank heal on my cards, I don't think the rest of this match is that interesting so I will fast forward to the end.

conclusion.png

My Diamond Dragon did take some damage but my tank heal helped it get back to full health. As soon as I started taking out his ranged monsters, my opponent lost any chance of winning this match.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The Robo-Dragon Knight did a great job as a tank but it was a bit unfortunate to see it die without being able to get a tank heal in. The extra armor from my cards did help my cards survive and the tank heal did a great job of keeping my monsters alive afterward. The rest of my damage dealer did damage and the filler monster never really went up to tank monsters.

I am happy with my choice of Byzantine Kitty because it made me move faster than my opponent. My whole team was faster than my opponent and I think my opponent was a bot. It doesn't make sense to use that lineup in the back-to-the-basics ruleset. The sand worm could not attack from its position and Cornealus doesn't have a self-heal so placing it before Sandworm also doesn't make sense. Pelacor Arbalest doesn't have double-attack so there would have been better options there as well.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Byzantine Kitty is good for such a ruleset where monsters can't heal but summoner can help with Heal ability. You were very dominant in this battle.

Yea it's one of my favorite dragon summoners because it's so helpful. Heal, speed and true strike are great abilities to use.

Nice game!
I love Dragon Splinter, but don't play much due to high mana of most of my cards, and my low mana good cards are always rented... :)

I have a decent amount of cards in my deck for myself so I have a decent mix and match for different fights. The spare CP are rented out for income though.
