Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! GARGOYA SCRAPPER

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Gargoya Scrapper card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Gargoya Scrapper

Gargoya Scrapper is a Life splinter card that costs 1 mana. It starts with no skill and learns the void magic ability at level 3. The stats are kind of underwhelming but it's to be expected because it only costs 1 mana. I find this more useful as a filler monster to tank hits.

I do use this card from time to time when I have extra mana available and I want something to tank a few hits for me. It works extremely well to give my later monsters a chance to do another damage and turn the battle around for me. So it comes in very helpful when I am in low mana matches.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is lost legendaries and reverse speed. This means I do not have access to my legendary monsters and lower-speed monsters go first. There is only 24 mana available and I can use any splinter except for death and fire.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Mother Khala. My plan is to just have a few tanks and take down my opponent using my damage dealers. As I don't have much mana available, I plan to use a lot of filler monsters in-between.

Total Mana:24

My plan is in the table above. The Crystal Jaguar is my tank with the thorns ability and my back-up tank is my Luminous Eagle. I have a Venari Crystalsmith to heal both of thm and Pelacor Arbalest to do damage from the back. Besides that, I have two monsters as filler for sneak or for my front-line.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think it's about 50/50. The good thing is that my opponent is not taking advantage of magic to destroy my line-up. I don't know why he used an ooze in this rule-set.

Round 2

round 2.png

As my cards focus on a single monster, I am close to taking out his tank. Once I do, I will have the advantage over my opponnet. Overall, my chances haven't dropped much yet.

Round 3

round 3.png

My Crystal Jaguar is still alive and I was able to take out his first monster. So I am feeling quite confident right now but my tank healer will be in danger soon if I can't deal enough damage.

Round 4

I was able to kill off enough monsters before my healer died so there is no reason for me to lose this match. With the ranged monsters in front, I won't be taking much damage.

After a few rounds of trading blows, I was able to finish off my opponent.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The Gargoya Scrapper in the back was my filler monster and it never ended up stepping up in the fight. However, it was reassuring to have it there in case my tank died early on. My idea of having a tank healer helped me keep my front-line alive long enough for me to wipe out my opponent's line-up.

Mother was a great choice as a summoner and it allowed me to use my higher-level cards without worries. I think my opponent would stand more of a chance if he was paying attention to the rulesets. I don't understand why he chooses to use a high-speed tank and why he chooses to use a creeping ooze in his lineup. I picked my cards more on the stats and the abilities they had.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I like Crystal Jaguar wanting to have it at level 4 but have put the ambition aside due to the new cards we have now.
Great battle!

Yea. I got it to level 4 for the thorns ability and I love it. The low mana thorns monsters allow you to increase your options for fights and Crystal Jaguar is great for low mana fights.
