Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! SILENT SHA-VI

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Silent Sha-vi card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Silent Sha-vi

Silent Sha-vi is a death splinter card that costs 5 mana. It starts with the sneak ability, learns cripple at level 6 and pierce at level 10. The stats are quite good at level 1 as it has decent speed, good attack, and decent health. It's a good card to have in any situation as it can attack from anywhere unless you're playing under a specific rule set.

I do use this card from time to time because it deals decent damage and has high speed. In a way, it's good as a backup tank as well due to its decent health. If you don't have any other good monsters, then placing this card in the last spot can help it soak up damage from the sneak monsters.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is explosive weaponry and up close and personal. This means that I can only use melee monsters and every single monster gets the blast ability. There is 28 mana available and you can use any splinter except for earth.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Daria Dragonscale. It's a great match-up for the current rule set and more melee attack is always good.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Daria Dragonscale4Summoner+1 melee attack
Chain Golem81stTank with shield
Manticore42ndReach and backup monster
Silent Sha-vi53rdSneak
Disintegrator74th-1 melee attack
Corpse Fiend05thFiller
Total Mana:28

My plan is just to have a lineup filled Chain Golem as my tank and Disintegrator to lower down my opponent's attack. I have manticore in the 2nd position because it has the reach ability and it has decent health. Silent Sha-vi is my only monster that can attack outside of the other two monsters. Corpse Fiend is just a filler monster to lower down the damage I take.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance at my opponent's lineup, I don't think I will do well in this match at all. With the addition of his Shieldbearer, he also has a backup tank with the shield ability so I won't be able to deal much damage with the blast ability.

Round 2

round 2.png

I was unable to take down Shieldbearer and the rest of my monsters are already taking massive damage. My Chain Golem seems to be fine though because of the Shield ability.

Round 3

round 3.png

Even though the Shield-bearer is dead, I only have the Chain Golem and a half-dead Manticore left. My opponent still has 4 monsters that can still hit me so it will be an endurance fight to see if Chain Golem can kill me or not.

Unfortunately, Chain Golem wasn't strong enough to take out the rest. It did do a good job of taking out more enemies but the shield ability just wasn't enough when my opponent was playing with higher-level cards than me.

Conclusion

The battle this time around did not go as I expected. Silent Sha-vi was a good card but it couldn't help me finish off my opponent's backline due to the Taunt ability on my opponent's Shieldbearer. Given the level difference between cards, it can't be helped that I lost. My Disintegrator strategy did help in the beginning but that blast rule-set was way too annoying and I couldn't make up for the difference in damage.

Daria was a great choice as a summoner and has helped increase my attack. It's a bit unfortunate that the damage was somewhat negated due to the shield ability my opponent had in his 2nd spot. The combination of his taunt and shield ability is a great thing to have during a melee-only match. So I think my opponent's lineup is quite strong. I don't know if he needed that filler monster at the very back due to this though.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Thanks for sharing! - @libertycrypto27

Good post and good considerations about Silent Sha Vi card. You shared a battle in which you lost and you did well because defeats are more important than victories and analysis of defeats is useful to increase one's Dek strength and skill
