The Sounds of Summer: MLB Baseball Leads the Crescendo

I was born and raised in New York, Brooklyn mostly. I lived in other boroughs as well as outside of the boroughs in Yonkers and worked many years in Manhattan; Wall Street and Madison Avenue mostly.

One of the most amazing things about being a New Yorker was the excitement for summer to roll around, because the MLB Season is coming and Mets & Yankee fans are getting pumped to start hating each other for another season.

I fell by the side of being a Mets fan, because the first baseball game I ever watched was Game 6 of the 1973 World Series, October 20th - New York Metropolitans versus the Oakland Athletics with Met Legend Tom Seaver opposing Catfish Hunter. Truth be told, I don't dislike the Oakland A's. I could have easily become an A's fan over becoming a Met fanatic. Tom Seaver tip the scales for me.

Unfortunately, we went on to lose that series; but we took them to 7 games.

For years after that, I have been a long suffering Mets fan; but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Here we are entering another season and I'm just as pumped today as I was 10, 20, 30 years ago. I have to stop showing may age 😄

I'm super excited, because I honestly believe we have a legitimate shot at being a Top 5 team. Offense has mostly been dreadful for the Mets, defense even worse and I think we have both ready to work on all cylinders. My constant worry like most Mets fans is the inconsistencies of the bullpen and the fragility of the rotation, but when Carrasco and Thor come back later in the season that will stretch us out and I think it will push us over the top.

The cap above with that logo will always make me feel like a kid.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go to the new ballpark CitiField; since I don't live out there anymore, but it's on the bucket list for sure:

Overall, I am looking forward to a great MLB season. There are so many promising young players who are about to transform the game and add some EXCITEMENT to it. Us traditionalists need to loosen up, because we need to bring younger fans to the fold and remain a viable option to potential superstars who are trending more to the NBA and NFL and who can blame them. I have faith. The game is going to go to a whole other level.

Getting back to my New York Mets. This is the projected 2021 lineup predicted by RotoChamp and I've seen that as pretty much most experts lineup.

I myself, love the potential of this lineup:

I'm looking forward for my Mets to have an outstanding season and I look forward to posting my excitement, opinions and thoughts about their season and MLB for that matter.

PLAY BALL!!!

Hahaha thank you for sharing your updates or highlight of baseball here. Here in Suriname we don't have a baseball culture and I don't think we have teams who play, but I got interested in this sport because of movies like the Sandlot and if I were to grow up in the US I think this was definitely a sport I was also taking part of (be it on the field or on tribunes or tv hihi). I definitely watched when the US played against Japan during the Olympics.

Thank You @tanjakolader - yes, it can be boring for some; but there is poetry to the game. It definitely needs some tweaks to attract a new generation, but I'm excited for the new season!

Maybe show the the Sandlot movie? haha
Or maybe slowly get them into it with the help of baseball wii games. Who knows?

It's a billion dollar industry. They just need to provide those in unfortunate situations with more fields to play on and more mentorships. They will be ok.

Ah yes, I didn't know what the status was of baseball fields in the US. Indeed, if kids get to learn to play the game, they're more likely to enjoy it themselves.
