Hive's Fork, What You Might Learn from The Transition

Hello guys, welcome to the show for this week. It's @joetunex and @josediccus here again. This is the week of the fork and we've taken this opportunity to talk about the Hive fork in general. We've got a lot of feedback asking us about what Steem or Steemit is. So many "OGs" refer Steem in their posts and since we've got a lot of newbies on the chain, who are inquisitive about the history of the blockchain, we've decided to take this period as an important moment to talk about how Hive was birthed and what led to hard fork.

We also emphasized on the meaning of hard and soft fork and why the latter is necessary for a web3 progressive Blockchain such as Hive. We talked about the rich history of Hive and its community, which is the core identity of the chain that's not sellable or transferable due to the decentralized nature of the blockchain.

This was emphasized when we discussed the hostile takeover and Justin Sun's attempt to "TRONIZE" the chain at that time. It was an iconic period in blockchain history and we discussed how it made the round in cryptocurrency tabloids. We also talked about how the rich history of the chain can act as a positive instigator to potential investors on the DApps built here and finally how we can manage to market Hive having not found the perfect way to do it thus far.

Great talk guys, I still remember that hard fork from steemit when Justin Sun tried to take us over. Didn't he co-operate with the binance guy- I forget his name and some people lost steem power. Anyways am glad we found a better home on hive. Thank you for sharing and happy weekend :}

Thanks bro, looking back at those days to the Hive being home now reminds us of how far we have come and stronger we have become as a community and enlightened in the process as well. No doubt Hive is the better home now.

Thanks, we're glad you enjoyed it. The truth of the matter is that the whole Justin Sun Story will always thrill anyone and this is because of how it happened, I'm equally happy we found a home on hive because it was crazy.

I watched this video two days ago and although procrastination wanted to defeat me, thank God I reblogged it earlier. It served as a constant reminder for me to do the needful.

This video has given me an insight, foresight, behindsight and overview of what transpired between Justin Sun, Steem and Hive.

I've never heard or read anything as concise, explanatory and interesting as what you've shared.

Whereas we the newcomers see this Hard Fork as an update/upgrade of Hive Blockchain, to make Hive more scalable and to introduce more features into the system, for you oldies, it represents something more.

It serves as a day of remembrance, recollection and celebration.

You recall the iconic moment when a blockchain was forked out of another blockchain to establish itself as a purely decentralized ecosystem.

You recall the moment when you had to decide the party you wanna stand with: the home you love so much but has been hijacked by a centralized body.... or place you aren't sure of, but are willing to become part of the builders of a decentralized world.

This decision was definitely a high risk; it was both a financial risk and a social risk. Financial in terms of your stake and social in terms of your social activities and posting in the place you once called home.

But now, I'm glad your decisions were the best. I'm glad you both remained steadfast and you pulled through amidst the challenges and difficulties.

Indeed you have become sources of inspiration to many of us who are still young on the chain.

We know we cannot experience what you've experienced, but whenever we get the opportunity to learn and drink from your fountain of wisdom, we take these opportunities with all manner of seriousness.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece

Many thanks for watching the video ksam

This video has given me an insight, foresight, behindsight and overview of what transpired between Justin Sun, Steem and Hive.

We are glad the video helped in explaining the reason behind the birth of Hive, we get asked what is Steem now and then and it was a good opportunity for myself and Jose to share what transpired.

It serves as a day of remembrance, recollection and celebration.

This a true, it was a war against centralized power with money versus a community that refuses to be sold. It exhibited what a community that chooses decentralization over centralization and that personally has meant a lot to me in my cryptocurrency journey.

The bottom line at the end of the day was seeking a decentralized platform influenced our decision on where we stand and want to be.
