Well, the dynamics of humans is vast and we may be able to predict only for ourselves. We do not get the same measure of what we give and worse off, it can be the opposite hence, it may just be US and what we can offer without expecting much hence, that equilibrium is almost unachievable.
The human nature especially in Nigeria wants to keep accumulating for fear of poverty or of the unknown despite knowing life itself is a gift and temporal. The human nature wants to feel secure and perhaps over secured hence, tripping to greed which worsens the equilibrium.

It's almost unachievable to attain a level of equilibrium, this is totally true, however we can try, train ourselves to. Survival is a dicey thing and when push comes to shove, people cave in, but then we should expect this in order to be better prepared.
You're right, we should have an open and hopeful mind
