God's Perfect Peace

avatar

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 KJV

The Amplified Bible states it this way:

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] John 14:27 (AMP)

There are a few things we need to consider when reading this verse.

1.) Jesus promises his peace
2.) He doesn't promise us a "peaceful" life

Just to write a little on the third point. We will have trials and tribulations. Jesus states: "not as the world gives do I give to you" John 14:27 AMP
In order to have peace as the world gives to us, we would have to have peaceful circumstances. We are not promised them.

28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Romans 8:28 AMP

If you are born again and seek God's will, you are called according to His plan and purpose.

You might not understand everything that happens to you, but you can rest assured that God is using it for his perfect plan for his life.
Even our hardships make us stronger:

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be [b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4

No matter what is going on, whether you understand it or not, whether it seems fair or not, know that God is working it all out for his good and his plan for your life. You can rest in peace knowing this.
