Mind Your Business!

There was quite the conversation this past weekend in the CTP Discord...

It all stemmed from last week's podcast where @taskmaster4450 and I were talking about the business mindset needed on Hive.

The approach is we're all a brand, a personal brand if you will. And if we want more people to follow us, engage with us and support us...We need to approach our journey on Hive as a business.

Obviously there is exceptions to this rule but overall, it's something I believe in....Mainly because I want to see my efforts on chain become my future down the road. I want to eventually make a living off my Hive experience, so I'm always thinking....How can I get more people to know, like and trust me.

But for some inside of the CTP Discord, the topic came up that....

Maybe some people, aren't here to build a business. Maybe they just want to earn some residual APR and call it a day.

And I understand that approach to this stuff....I think why a lot of us want to treat this like a business is because of the social aspects of this blockchain.

Now again, not everyone is 'social', you'll see plenty of people on this chain that curate and never say a word, but that can still be considered a business?

I digress...Because it's really a personal decision. How you approach this blockchain and your investment of time, effort and fiat into it.

But for me...

Know.

Like.

Trust.

These are essential for my approach to this blockchain. It's how I've approached everything I've done online over the past two plus decades.

I learned this method of doing business from books written by Jeffrey Gitomer. He wrote over and over again, this little gem...

"All things being equal, people do business with those they know, like and trust. All things NOT being equal, people do business with those they know, like and trust!"

So for me, it's simple. Do everything I can on this blockchain to get people to know like and trust me...

Breaking it down a little bit more...

Know - I try to show up every day! I create blog posts almost every day of the month and make the commitment to do so. No matter what, I know it comes down to out of sight and out of mind. So if I keep taking days off, people won't...Know me.

Like - With my content, I try to have fun. Sure there is serious stuff I talk about, but I want people to feel like the can sit down with me anytime and have a conversation. That only comes from people...Knowing me.

Trust - You cannot buy this! Takes years to develop and seconds to ruin. But the more I show up, keeping doing podcasts, writing post, Threading on LEO....I hope people come to trust me.

And what's the results of using this approach?

I get some fantastic engagement on my posts!

We always have a great engaged crowd on our podcasts!

And I'm always being rewarded for my efforts.

By no means, I'm not ready to retire lol But I don't think I'll ever stop on chain. Because while building a business may not be for everyone on Hive, I'm having way too much fun create, curating, engaging and building on the greatest blockchain online!

This is really good advice and I know you've mentioned this before as well. There's also a good series on Netflix, 'Celebrity', that's got interesting advice on the social media business.

I think people need to treat Hive more like a business. The KLT is quite good and it's how to make to sure that people show up each day.

That's the easiest way to get people to trust you, just be here, every day and add value!

It's great to see how you enjoy the Hive experience and how you strive to achieve your long-term goals. Your entrepreneurial mindset is admirable and can be inspiring to others. Keep doing what you love and sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. Thank you

I am following your create, curate and comment approach. It has helped me a lot. I know things are kind of slow with my progress compared to yours. But every HP and the HIVE I get on the platform is so valuable and impressive. I have read some of jeffery's books. Something new to learn over weekend :)

They are awesome. Sales Bible is a must, but all his other ones are fantastic. Just a great author and someone I've learned so much from over the years.

I have been able to dive into this idea and i think working with it will surely trigger my space, taking it as a business because no one would want a business to crash but the main objective is to continue making grow,

So your real motivation is to make money from Hive! That is why you spend your energy-producing content.

Well at the end of the day, this is going to be my retirement. So end goal, sure I wanna feed my family. But day to day, it's about building!

I can understand you building your brand for your business on Hive. You seem so confident that Hive will provide your retirement.

I totally see this as a business now that I have been here for several years. That's part of the reason I used some of my account creation tokens and I picked up some variations on my nickname and my real name. I want to be able to protect my brand should Hive ever grow to be what we hope it will be one day.

And see, your brand is very solid on chain. Might not be a business in the tradional sense, but because you have that strong personal brand, it helps your account over time!

That's what I am hoping! It helps against people trying to be sneaky too. At least that is the plan!

Hey Jon,

Great post my friend. I wish I could have that kind of mind set you have. I did have it when I first started online. My first work online was doing a few PTC's. And then it went to TE and VM and to the stuff i do today.

The point I am trying to make here is not what I did, but more of this I don't give a F attitude I have with this online stuff. Except for this hive and hbd stuff. I actually like it, but I want to learn more on what to do but I finbd this challenging for me.

People pretend to KNOW me, but they don;t KNOW me
People do not LIKE me, because of what they heard, or what I did.
And Trust it needs to be earned. But many think I need to earn it from them, but I have to give it away to them.

I know I can be a nice person. Like I said in chat with threadcasts I am going on my 25 years with my wonderful wife. If I was such a bad person to this world what the hell is she doing with me?

My problem is I flow. I don't hold back or beat around the bushes. Yes, I know many of my questions sound stupid, rude, or whatever the reciever feels about it, sorry but I don't care how my questions feels. I just want answers, instead of getting answers I just get labelled and then thsi vicious circle of bull shit happens and I am the bad guy. Sometimes, I don;t mind being the bad guy at all even if I am not being the bad guy. Get awful people to stay away from me. But, it also hurts me with potential refs/friends/etc... online.

The TE platform. I am sure there is a picture of me with a biography that someone else wrote so people don;t do business with me or join me. Ya I am being sarcastic here lol. But I am a hated man in the TE POS platform. I do enjoy ListNerds and CTPX. Not because of credits but because I can win coins to help grow in hive/ctp. Everything else in TE make me want to puke all over their ads, lol.

I may seem to be one of those folks that Task talks about that do nothing with hive but just collect 20% APR. He is right 100%. The reason why? Its because I honestly do not want to do any kind of business, and I am not sure what else I can do to make me grow, hive or even Leo grow. ANd I eally don;t want to go to ad sites of any kind excpet your and LN to put up a referral link to come join somehting hive only to bring in a bull shit ref. Don't believe me? Have a look at all the active refs I have made in CTPX. Yes, CTPX is the only thing I promote.

I'm on peakd everyday looking for stuff to teach me on things to do to earn/grow and grow the platforms. But maybe I suck at seacrhing for these things. Sorry for making this so long. I felt like I had to get it off my chest. Its like what warren buffett says: if you can't explain on why you purchased a business to a 5 year old and make him understand it don;t buy that business, I can't explain it to a kid hive/Leo/all so I can't treat it like a business. But I try to learn everyday. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.
