The Non-Ponzi Blockchain!

The Hive community is awesome!

You know that already though right?

One of the best aspects of hanging out here for all these years is the people that you meet and the engagement you receive from them!

Take for example an awesome comment on #MyHiveGoals post from a few days ago by @forexbrokr

gfd.png

This was a brilliant comment on many fronts but here's what I loved about it...

"...There has to be a non-ponzi reason for people to buy the tokens..."

I think this hit me so much because of my background in online and affiliate marketing. Basically the industries that made famous..Online ponzis. Every day it seemed someone was being taken by someone else and it's just destroyed the reputation of said industry.

So I've seen quite a few things over the years and have been approached by so many that want to 'share an opportunity with me'....

That conversation usually ends when I ask them....

"But what do you think of the product?"

Sadly, most people that get into online opportunities are attracted to the 'potential money they can make' and rarely about whether or not the product they will represent will add value to others lives.

And here in lies the problem we're seeing with most crypto currency projects out there!

It may not be 'join under me and we'll both get rich' but instead we see things like...

Look at the Bollinger bands and the T&A of this project!!!

(For the record I don't even know what both of those things mean lol)

It's almost always about what a token has done on the markets and rarely if that blockchain and crypto are actually improving someone's life. You know....

Actual use case!

And here we have our little darling of a blockchain project called Hive!

What's fascinating about this community is that...We do everything right, but the 'price' never seems to match up. We concentrate on building applications that people actually use and actually USE this whole Web3 stuff the experts love to drool over.

But here we are....Still ignored!

But for how much longer?

Sure, as I write this Hive is on a nice little pump but as I've said for years...Price be damned, give me use case, development and an actual community....And I'll show you a non-ponzi blockchain ;)

It's not the sexiest project out there...

It continues to get ignored by the experts and talking heads...

But here's the secret for me and I will bring it back to the 'online opportunities'. I sleep very well at night, recommending Hive to everyone who EVER asks me about crypto because...There's a reason to buy it, hold it and build with it.

Which we can't really say the same about most crypto projects out there...

Non-Ponzi, indeed!

Of course, some of the common characteristics of Ponzis tends to be speed and rapid turnover and impatience.

As @taskmaster4450 often points out, building something solid and of lasting value is a long-term proposition. Amazon didn't become Amazon, overnight. Nor did Tesla. One of my own legacy investments — eBay — took many years to surpass its initial hyped IPO price for the stock.

Hive is still very young. I expect that when we've been doing this for ten years, the valuations will be quite different, particularly if developers keep adding new forms of applied utility.

=^..^=

Agreed. That's why it's so important to have long term goals here. Sure we all need to eat, and pay the bills...But I can't help but believe...Those that stick with this stuff, will be very happy in the future!

Yeah, you're absolutely right. Any blockchain that has no use case like hive can be classified by those new in the space as a ponzi scheme. But immediately you understand hive you will understand that you have to he involved.

I just watched a video of some crypto specialists where they speak about the challenges of altcoins and what they need to make better. While listening it was quickly clear to me that what Solana, Polkadot and those other Polygon are struggling with, Hive has overcome most of it already... Why is Hive not pumping because it's decentralised, there isn't a guru that promotes it with millions. So price looks boring but in my opinion its sustainable and while some projects will come crashing down, Hive will go on it's way until it will be unavoidable...

We have a lot of people focused long term on this chain. I love that about it too.

Long term focus is what will matter because most of the other chains just look for investors while on hive it's about building the future.

The value of Hive is tied to the network usage. The best thing we can do to help it grow is to use Hive every day. Play a game, post a comment, etc.

Exactly and this value is so much bigger than most of the other blockchain because the interaction here is of real human beings that spend a lot of time on the chain.

I am biased but I think Hive might have the most utility of all coins in the space. Maybe ETH has more utility, but the gas fees create a lot of friction.

The on-chain interaction, like you mentioned, is part of that utility. More engagement happening here, I think creates a fly-wheel effect.

Some say it's because we're in an echo chamber and no one is listening...But I think you are right....Hive is positioned perfectly. People will wake up.

Hive needs to start those apps and the local payments like others are doing. If you check crypto like Dash and Bitcoin Cash you would realize they got attenion by being useful to less tech savy public. "Pay with Hive" type of the apps if created for other people that would get some attention from the outside world. The problem is currently no "real world" connected apps are being developed as of now.

That would be cool...But I think the apps need to be first and foremost. If there is a demand, then every day payments can be a thing. But we need users.

Hive has been a really fantastic place and is the best place to know the value of crypto. I've seen many platforms and crypto earning site but non of the matches up to hive.

Like you've said, it's really sad that hive is still unvalued out there and I think that's where everyone comes in, we have to prove the value to anyone that is willing to listen.

Nice writeup @jongolson

Folks that have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of online marketing and off chain market crashes can benefit and learn a lot from HIVE.

But like you said @jongolson, it’s not sexy.

Glad we know better!

I probably need to refine my definition of ponzi scheme. Many of the crypto projects are providing/creating new tokens without providing a product. As long as people want the products that are created the crypto projects will continue to thrive and survive. There is a lot of survivor bias where people only remember their wins and not their loses.

That's the comparable for me...Here's a token, we'll pump the price, but it offers no utility at all. Classic ponzis to me.

More often than not we tend to forget that all fiat currencies are also Ponzi schemes. The only thing they have going for them are the "use cases".
Time for Hive to take over, don't you think?

Funny you should mention The Non-Ponzi Blockchain. When I first got started with Hive, I mentioned it to a long-time marketing friend of mine and the first thing she said was "Crypto is all a Ponzi scheme and has no basis for stability."
Some day they will see the light.
Awesome post, Jon.

There are a lot of projects that aren't backed by anything but Hive is looking great. The development keeps coming and I am sure it will rebound back when the markets aren't bearish.

I fully agree with this, sure we all want to make money but personally i need to believe in the product/token,whatever. for me to even bother doing anything with it.

I have seen so many projects coming and going over the years because they never found a real use-case for their token/product or they do find one but never gets any real attention anyway which is really sad to see since some of these teams behind those projects keep on putting in the work, building a game or whatever and the game might be really great but they never focus on marketing so only a few people finds it...and there's also sadly a lot of projects that just pops up and looks really legit and they have nice website and whitepaper, etc. but then you do some research and find out they just wanna get your money and then rug...might not even be clear but you gotta talk with people, learn about what you put your money into before just going full ape.

Hive is great and i believe in the community and the projects being built on here, sure now and then we see projects pop up here that just want your money also but at least here it's fairly easy to find out if they are legit because of the whole social part.

In short...DYOR! and talk with people :D

LOL, I was about to ask :)

I never understood why people would promote something they aren't 100% supportive of themselves. I just don't get it. When I was 16 or so I got this telecom job to sell lotteries by phone, cold calls. Apparently I was good at it, and it made GREAT money for a 16yo lol, but I hated the fact that it was all a big scam as I found out after 3 months. So I quit, I could not sell people something that I didn't support any longer and that was it.

Since then I swore not to promote anything that I'm not 100% fully supporting myself.
